Way back to 2018, MyCrypto was nothing more than a fork of the existing MyEtherWallet, many things had been changed since the mentioned time. Both wallets are well-known wallets for storing ETH and ERC20 tokens. I prefer to use the MyCrypto desktop app after the latest updates on Myetherwallet site, there is no option to create a new temporary ETH wallet with the private key. The whole process can go up to 5-minute per single ETH address because of verifying seed or mnemonic phrase. The Mycrypto app made it simple and the KISS(keep it simple stupid) rule is my first criteria for saving time. Just using a random password without downloading the JSON file, it is simply easy to copy and save the private key of the new ETH wallet address.

Yes, these two were one before when the mycrypto team decided to establish themselves.

I haven't used them but I think many likes the feature that you have said about the kiss. You can just create a wallet with any password that you will provide.

But with MEW, you dont have to download the json file too but you need to rewrite the recovery phrases which will serve as your seed/p. keys.

Last year, I used both platforms, Mycrypto experience was better than MEW! Their software/app works better than the web version. Though at the end of 2019, MEW developed a lot, their user interface, new features are very catchy now, whenever I need to transfer token from the hardware wallet, I use both platforms, including the Metamask. I did not know Mycrypto is a fork of MEW, thanks for the info!
