I mined some bitcoin for a little bit, a long time ago; back when it was still possible to mine with GPU. I haven't been active here for a long time. How do I move my BTC to sell? I still have the wallet.dat file saved in thumb drive from back then. Also, do I have the same amount of BCH as I have in BTC? How do I move / sell BCH? Edit: Should I follow this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a08MlPSSULUThank you

Welcome back. From the golden age, you should be owning a large quantity of bitcoins . It's your wisest step ever to post about your issue in btt forum. Let's start with recovering your funds before thinking how to sell it. The wallet.dat file is your key. To safely do this, i suggest you to visit the technical board here

Yes it's the board you need. You can move this thread to that board by using the move option at the bottom of this page. Edit: According to the audiance of this video, it should work. But i still think it's important to use the board i mentioned above by posting your request. Most professional users in that board can safely guide you but they don't often visit the bd board. If you insist to follow random videos, please consider to test any method in an off-ligne device.

Welcome back! Also, do I have the same amount of BCH as I have in BTC? How do I move / sell BCH?
Yes, as long as you have never moved or transferred it during the fork. Since you've mentioned you're in a long hiatus, let's assume that you never did. You all have the known forks there and one possible way to claim is through exodus wallet for bch and sv. https://support.exodus.io/article/64-how-do-i-claim-bitcoin-cashhttps://support.exodus.io/article/994-how-do-i-claim-bsv-in-exodusBe wise and careful with some strangers that will try to help you but with a different method and agenda because they might scam you. Because they will ask for that file so only do the process on your own unless the person is very reputable in the forum.

Thank you. Exodus is the client for BCH? Is BSV another fork? I did not know there was another fork to BCV! And looks like I can use Exodus for both forks? Thanks for the caution! Appreciate that.

BSV is a fork of BCH and since you have untouched your BCH, you're also expecting to receive it once you've claimed your BCH. Exodus is a wallet and is just another way to claim your BCH, there are other ways for the process but I find this easier. Yes, you can use Exodus for both forks. You also have other forks to claim like Bitcoin Gold, and the ones that has a good ranking in coinmarketcap. But not all of them has value. https://coinsutra.com/bitcoin-forked-coins-list-dates-claim/

You all have the known forks there and one possible way to claim is through exodus wallet for bch and sv. Exodus cannot be used. That tutorial can be used only when your bitcoin is stored in your exodus wallet and you want to claim your BCH or BSV. As the OP is talking about a wallet.dat file, that should be a bitcoin core wallet. So, the OP should first install Bitcoin Core and export the private key. Then can import that private key into exodus or other wallets to restore BTC, BCH and BSV.

Didn't know there have been so many forks! Awesome! Love it! You can check other fork coins of your BCH wallet or Bitcoin wallet to http://www.findmycoins.ninja/If you are going to get those fork coins always make sure to transfer major coins like BTC and BCH before you claim the other fork coins. Because there are reports that if you didn't transfer your BTC to another wallet before claiming fork coins your Bitcoin will be lost. So always transfer your major coins first before taking out other fork coins. This method gives you a proper way to import your wallet.dat file but before you can claim fork coins you will need to transfer Bitcoin to another wallet as I suggested above. And then export your private keys you can use these commands below walletpassphrase "your walletpassphrase here" 600 dumpprivkey [your Bitcoin address here] Once you get the private keys keep them somewhere safe. You can use that private key to claim any fork coins.

That will work for recovering your Bitcoins but it requires you to sync the blockchain; if you have the resources, do that. To recover your BCH, you can do the same but download a BCH full node instead ( note: BCH blockchain is a lot bloated than BTC's) Alternatively, you can just export the keys from your wallet using dumpwallet command ( usage: https://bitcoincore.org/en/doc/0.16.0/rpc/wallet/dumpwallet/). Using those exported keys, you can import it to other client like Electrum and Electron cash to recover BTC and BCH. Just make sure that you have a backup of that wallet file in case of file corruption.

Edit: Should I follow this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a08MlPSSULUThank you If the amount is over 50 BTC you should consider selling OTC as you could get 20% premium for your "virgin" btc. Dont sweep into one address as it will or could reveal your identity. Also, once you cleared the wallets, keep them safe, they could have secondary value, even emptied. Finally, even if you use vpn your IP will be revealed if you dont turn off webCRT, even if you run your own full node broadcasting your transaction will reveal your ip to connected nodes. ( thats what chainanalysis sniffing do) Just a few pre caution tips. /KX

Nice! I'm glad BTC was found for you due to past effort!
Some will pay a premium for fresh coins as someone above stated earlier.. Personally used to use localbitcoins.com or some similar site to sell..
I'd honestly hold off on selling though.. Price is in the dumps right now in comparison to what it was.. And if you don't immediately need the fiat currency if you can hold out for a month or two the price should be roughly double what it is now.
