This is very irresponsible of the conference organizers and the Parisian Ethereum community. It might have been ok to give them excuse if the conference was on January or February. However, on March, it is a certainty that all conferences and mass gatherings should be declared dangerous.



Users are reporting that they are testing positive for COVID-19 after attending the Ethereum Community Conference. The conference, held in Paris between March 3 through March 5, had a sizable crowd in attendance. Those with symptoms are advised to self-isolate and get themselves tested.

This is worse they should have taken up precautionary measures or did not push through with the conference, I don't think it will only be six this is a conference there will be talks, picture taking and handshakes, some will not yet show up or did not report it.

Why do the users want to attend the conference? Don't they know it is dangerous to travel or gather with many random people? Indeed Parisian Ethereum community and conference organizers did a mistake by providing it at the wrong time. But we don't blame them only, but the users also did the wrong decision by coming to the conference.

If there are 6 already confirm positive all those people who attend that conference should make a right thing like self quarantine for 2 weeks or else it will be worsten the things to happen. They should not continue the meeting at the first place , because they know how dangerous it will be .

They already know how dangerous the virus but still they insist a conference socializing with a lots of people of course theres a chance of potential transfer since covid is airborne. Organizers should be blame for this, Im thinking if they didnt know that having mass people is now being avoided to contained such spreading of virus hence they didnt abort the conference? Sorry for those who have been positive, but hopefully in future othet blockchain events should be cancelled until the situation change.

Ok now this is foolishness from the part of the organisers of the conference, didn't they see other far important conferences & social gathering were getting cancelled just to prevent cases like this from been the end result.

The likes of premier league, festivals, basketball league etc were all cancelled irrespective of the money at risk but just a conference that could be done online just to prevent physical contact still felt they have the need to carry-out their meeting.

I blame the organization but send my well wishes to the affected individual and pray for a speedy recovery, just hope this doesn't affect the ethereum price negatively as I don't think ethereum can survive another massive decline in price value especially a case that only the coin is involved and not a general market correction.

That's very an unfortunate news to hear, too many people are being affected with this virus and it's affecting the way of life, outside gatherings are heavily discourage at this time, I wonder why they didn't consider this,
The organizers of this conference should have taken the necessary precautions, make sure all participants in the conference go through check and sanitization, all the attendees needs to be quarantine to prevent further spread.

A pity situation to those who got hitted by ncov19 virus. I think the best way is to have precautionary measures and proper hygiene all the time. I hope the conference about ethereum was successful by them.

It's totally sad to hear and maybe the rest of the conference right now should be postponed so we can avoid more people who can get infected by this virus. I don't know if they heard that most of the crypto conferences in ASIA got cancel and it's because of this virus and I don't know why they are not aware of this. Is there any information about how many people gathered at the conference? because we don't know if there are 6 people who got infected (but I hope the rest are not infected) and maybe those people who didn't get affected also need to be quarantined for their safety. 

We need to avoid crowded places like going to conferences and it's better to postpone those events and resume it after we defeated this VIRUS. And, I agree with @CryptopreneurBrainboss, if they really want to continue the conference maybe they can hold it online, video conferencing. Hoping for the fast recovery of people who got infected and stay safe guys.

I agree, it is very sad that people are infected by the virus because of this conference.

I think this is mis-management, specially that Italy is one country wherein a sudden breakout appeared around that time. I don't know if those infected are going to sue the organisers or not, because if they cancelled this event then this could have been prevented. Every big event in the world are getting cancelled, sporting events, concerts and others. So I don't know if the people behind think about the safety of their attendees or not. There are options, like online conference or just cancel the event and refund those who have bought the tickets (if they charge people money).

Doesn't matter what is that they wanted to discussed in public, everyone should take every precautions because of the high risk involved in contacting the virus specially in a crowded and public places.

As for those who attend, they should have take into consideration that they can be infected and that's what really happened here, I think both sides are guilty here, the organizers should have postponed though, no question about it.

Very sad to hear that few people have been affected by the virus. Everyone who was present there should get their test done. Why was it not postponed or cancelled. March is the month when it started to spread in Europe.

Don't tell me this people are not aware of this difficult situation that the world is passing through right now that they still went ahead to host a conference in the midst of this virus affecting many people in different countries,
I see it as total negligence of this epidemic and now they get themselves infected by the virus, why deliberately adding to the already increasing number of affected people!

In Paris yes it is dangerous, but in many countries not, since they have zero infected. Situation of course can change, and it will change. And Paris might become corona free and conferences there might get safe again.

This is terrible and shocking, i know corona is spreading across europe quite fast but recent emergency response at global level will yield results in a month or so i guess, many people are in a state of panic or fear but i think with the isolation and no gathering policy across the globe, world will be able to control this virus in a couple of weeks time.

And do you see the paradox how bad the centralization is? The most influential community members from Ethereum attended to a party and now almost all of them are positive? What if this matter affected the stability of the project? For example Bitcoin doesn´t have such problem because the whole world has to be inffected to endanger the stability of Bitcoin.

Most conferences were postponed. In my area all schools, cinemas, shoping centers are closed. Borders are getting shut down in the way that only citizens can enter and all visitors and tourists are held back, unless they have families here. People who come from high risk areas like China or Korea are quarantined and they went on with the conference?

They must be desperate tu pump ETH or just stupid.
