What is it?
Folding@home (FAH or F@h) is a distributed computing project, created by Stanford University, for disease research that simulates protein folding, computational drug design, and other types of molecular dynamics. As of today, the project is using the idle resources of personal computers owned by volunteers from all over the world. Thousands of people contribute to the success of this project. How does it work?
You simply download Folding@Home and use your unused CPU/GPU power to analyze data from Stanford.

What happens with the data?
Folding@home is run by an academic institution (specifically the Pande Group, at Stanford University’s Chemistry Department), which is a nonprofit institution dedicated to science research and education. We will not sell the data or make any money from it. Moreover, we will make the data available for others to use. In particular, the results from Folding@home will be made available on several levels. Most importantly, analysis of the simulations will be submitted to scientific journals for publication, and these journal articles will be posted on the web page after publication.

Following the publications of these scientific articles, we will make the raw data of the folding runs available to other researchers upon request. The data sets from some of our most prominent simulations are already publicly available. We’ve also striven to share our key technologies with other scientists, to assist their research as well.

@Moderators, I know this might not be posted in the right section but this definitely deserves a lot of attention imo. Folding@Home has been proven very effective in the past and this is a great opportunity for the Bitcoin community to contribute. We have a lot of CPU/GPU power that can be put to good use!

This major step from Stanford University to call out Bitcoin users is very much helpful for the COVID-19 patients as well as the medical community. There is of course no harm in doing a little deed after what we earned here in Bitcoin - to share and give whatever aid we can. The caution we must employ is that of checking the security of the address as well as verifying the legibility and credibility of the one who posted this. Let's aim for zero casualty!

That's great! There were like 8 or 9 people when I last checked. I'm part of a few big Bitcoin related Telegram groups, I'll see if I can 'recruit' more people .

If anyone have Twitter, sharing the info can really help gather more people I did it already but I don't have enough followers do the impact was almost zero.

Just wondering is there something wrong with the software? It's been up for like 5 days not but the last 3 haven't done any work at all. Stays still at 8,788.
On the other hand the stats of the bitcoin team have increased from 379,610 ( that's from my yesterday's post) til 448,277 ( as per now).

That’s the best suggestion yet. Modern bitcoin miners need special software to run F@H. But you could dedicate some or all of your proceeds from mining to fight SARS CoV-2 (Covid-19, Coronavirus).

That's a great idea but I will not risk it, also it might be dangerous to download this files at all.

I'm not saying that this is not helpful but I think it would be great if you are going to donate in other ways since you wanted to help the community from the COVID-19 virus it would be more trusted than this applications.

To help you justify donating if you think you’re too young to care about Covid-19. I’ve read too many posts on various forums from young people that don’t believe this effects them and even joking about thinning out the old people they don’t like anyway. The time span between the OG SARS and the current coronavirus is 16 years. If you are too young now you will be in the high risk group about the time the next major variant of SARS hits the world. SARS CoV-2 is a variant of the original 2003 SARS. SARS (killed 1 in 8 to 10 people that caught it) and MERS (killed 1 in 3 people that caught it) are close relatives of the current coronavirus that’s keeping the world off the streets. The current mutation is more worrisome because SARS has now figured out how to jump from person to person more easily. Look to the future and realize the next variant or mutation could remain just as or become more communicable and have the lethality of MERS (killing 1 in 3). Money donated to research now could help develop treatments and vaccines that could keep that from happening. 

TLDR; Don’t be a dumbass and refuse to donate because you think you can’t die from this one. You grow older every day you live. You’re going to be old sooner than you think fool. The next one might kill you if this one fails to do it. Help the medical community keep that from happening.

This is really great though I don't have a PC, the least I can do to help is not go out and risk contracting the virus or spreading if I have it unknowingly. That goes too for other in this forum, wash your hands. This is the the time you can save the world by just being a couch potato.

This is what needed these days. I am very much interested in projects like this which are making real life use of our computational power through digital networking. The technology and biology is at its best and it can be seen from the #StanfordUniversity initiative clearly. So our GPU/CPU power can't just be used for the earning of bitcoin or alts but empowering the knowledge of scientist around the globe. This can in turn help scientists workout antidotes on Covid19 like dangerous viruses. May be this project will move on to next stage if it receives huge support from the community. Well, all you have to do is share your computing power and do nothing so its smooth project.

This is a great initiative and I would contribute my quota as well. Moreover this ain't any demanding task that everyone should have a problem with. The most prone to Covid-19 here are those who are in a lower class, I mean those poor people. They can't go to work because of the quarantine and most of them are "no work, no pay" employee. Now, they don't have any idea where they will get their budget to live during this quarantine as they need to stock a lot of food, medicine, face masks, and etc. Also most of them are homeless and have nothing but to stay on the streets sleeping and their environment is not that safe.

Maybe, your fundraising request will help them to have some little donation in order to grant their necessities just to fight the poverty and this virus. Donation should be flexible, no matter what it is either fiat currency or cryptocurrency because crypto can be converted through exchange so it is not a problem. The problem here is that we need to gain more power and people to make this fundraising worth while and legit.

I also want to help my fellow people in order for them to have some goods also that may able to last them until the virus will ends. I hope everyone is doing good and staying at home so that there will be lessen the number of infected on the country that you guys are belong.

Let us continuously remind our loved ones, friends, families, classmates to stay at home as their government told them. Always wash your hands, use alcohol, eat fruits to gain Vitamin C. Also tell them to give some help if they can so that we can help each other fight the virus and back to normal again. Unfortunately, the number of infected is still increasing and hoping that the number of people recovering will be 100x times more than infected. Today there are a lot of people making projects about the cryptocurrency and fighting the coronavirus and many people today make fundraising and it is only to those people who have time to do it and capable to make more time to help other people still it is a good project helping towards to the people getting affected by the virus also we can send funds to them through online and if you are still doubting it is better if you make a research about the projects first and also if you do not have the capability to help them it is better to stay at your home and keep safe against the virus health is more important than money because you cannot bring does when you dead hoping to keep safe guys.
