I can't speak for all the gamblers out there but I think the reason that they are addicted to gambling is because they are taking their chances of winning back more than what they lost. This mentality is the poison that feeds people to gamble away their money. The promise of a great fortune that will turn around once life is an enticing bait for people to do gambling.

Besides that, they don't have strong control when they play gambling, so that makes them spend more time just because they expect to get a win in the next rounds. But the fact, it is difficult to win the gambling games if we don't have luck while the luck itself will not always come to us. People slowly become addicted to gambling without they realize because they can get excited in the gambling games itself, and that is the way for them to lose their money.

Winning back for what they lost is another reason for them to come back to the gambling places, but they never learn that will only give them the way to get addicted in the long term.

They got addicted mainly because of one reason and that is because of money. We all want a money or easy money rather. In gambling you have the chance to turn your penny into a decent amount in a short period of time. Although the chances of winning is very low, gamblers still take a risk because they are short of money, maybe they want more or maybe both. But anyway, I can not judge and blame all those people because we are all different, we have different story in life.

The temptation gambling gives is extensively extreme in a way that if you doesn't know how to handle it nor it's your first time to gamble you'll end up losing unless you belong to small probability of winners in gambling.

Not all people were able to manage themselves perhaps due to problems, they can afford to lose, or they are just bored; we don't know. We can't bear them them to stop what they are doing but we can encourage them to just gamble with moderation.

The only reason I think of why they continue to gamble despite of all circumstances is because of money . I don't believe if they tell me that their reasons are like what you've said. Having problems? Hmm, maybe that's a valid reason because they can serve it as their gateway of forgetting their problems for the meantime. But saying they are just bored or even the fact they can afford to lose, nah! It's a very insane move and no one (with right mentality) would ever do this.

The excitement of gambling will not let you think about quitting it or taking a short break and this must be the reason why gamblers are sticking within gambling whereas there must be at least hundreds of easier (not frustrating) and free of cost entertainment ways are available for them still they are continuing their gambling.

When you are capable of realizing why we must seek entertainment/profits from gambling only then probably you will never get addictions to it. Why wouldn't they be? Once you got the taste of winning a large amount of money off of a single play, you'd also get addicted. It's a mindset of people who are largely in need of money after all. Most of the addicts can be clearly associated with that type, while the other would be just for pure enjoyment. Now, these type of people, most of them are actually rich/huge source of founds which makes their gambling lives a lot easier compared to the former ones, and at the same time, is a lot easier to remove them from addiction.

I read a book titled " A subtle art of not giving a fuck". Some might have read this and really, addicts can be placed on some of the situations here. Like in the start, where we keep chasing what we don't have, which really just emphasizes our desires and the like. This gives off the depressed-ish atmosphere around us, leading our life to sunk more and more into that kind of life.

In short, revenge gambling . They want to get back what they've lost but unfortunately, most of them lead to more losses and only few of them are getting back what they lost.

When the gambler get back his lost in gambling, he will feel greedy therefore he will continue gambling since he felt that he is lucky at that time. Most of the gamblers are like this, they will gamble when they feel lucky and they don't know how to stop until such time that they will lost all of their money "AGAIN".

Because most people are unable to control themselves in gambling. IMO this is the main reason why many people are addicted to gambling. If people are able to have good self control, they wont be addicted to any addictive things (not only gambling).
Other reason could be "greediness". Feeling of never enough on everything they have, they earn or they get leads people into an addiction as well.

These are the reasons in my own opinion why there are so many people who get addicted to gambling. First is, there is no denying that many people are very greedy and always find a way to earn quickly or taking money from people that result in scamming people of their money. Some are looking for earning quick money without scamming which is through gambling on a casino. Some people only want to satisfy themselves by gambling either for fun, thrill, passing time and more.

That is a difficult question, there are some people that seem to be predisposed to getting addicted, they lack self-control and when they try something like gambling they are unable to stop themselves even when they know they should, then as time goes by and they lose more money they decide to keep gambling because they want to get their money back not realizing they will never be able to do that as the probabilities are against them, that is why whenever I gamble I consider my capital lost from the beginning that way I do not have any desire of chasing my losses.
