When I was watching some youtube videos, I see some videos pertaining to this kind of scam where people randomly get this warning message (Warning! your computer is infected call this number) as if it's true. newbies who are not familiar with this kind of fraud will be fooled with this message as I've seen in the video, there are lots of people who actually fell to this scam. when they start to call the number on the screen, the scammers will take their moves and manipulate the victim's computer to make them believe that there was something wrong with their computer and to be able to fix that, they need to pay a 1-time fee.

The truth is, your computer is infected with some kind of malware that the scammers have made and you can actually remove it without paying.

You can always press the report button and choose a category about what kind of adds are you seeing. google respond might take long but I'm sure they will take action as soon as they proved it.

That was what I used to think many years ago, but the best anti-virus for all of us is common sense. If the thing looks fishy, don't open it. Even the best software might not be able to save you if the threat is pretty lethal (e.g. ransomware).

It's because they allow installation in the first place. Having an antivirus or not, it doesn't matter if the user itself allows the malware to be installed.

I agree with useru above. The best protection is your awareness. On a side note, ads publishers should do better to filter out malware-ads like this.

Now that the browser window has been forcefully closed, you can attempt to remove the infection using automated software yourself. I'm not saying he's not trustworthy, but I strongly advise against getting any service of the sort.

Anyway, viruses like these are usually tame enough that Windows Defender and/or Malwarebytes should be able to purge them. If that doesn't work for some reason (which I believe would be highly unlikely unless your system has already been completely compromised), formatting your drive would be about a million times safer than installing a remote desktop service and letting other people handle it.

Also, you can follow these simple steps to avoid around 99% of random viruses floating around the internet:

1. Don't pirate software; it's trivial to bundle malicious software with these.
2. Don't install random software such as new altcoin wallets with no reputation etc.
3. Install script blocker add-ons on your browser such as NoScript or ScriptSafe. These can be further complemented by HTTPS Everywhere and uBlockOrigin.

What I could see happening is he'll tell you to run scans (because really, what else can you do?), and if that doesn't work, he'll suggest his remote desktop service again.

I mean, it's fine if he's just going to charge you a small fee, but he could potentially advise you to download malicious software, etc. and you'll only be worse off for information you could probably get freely from the internet anyway. It's also much more advisable to follow instructions that could be reviewed and verified by other readers (tech forums, etc.) than PMs where you're at the mercy of the other party.

Again, to clarify, I'm not discrediting him. I just want to warn people of what could happen if he turns out to be untrustworthy. There's also the fact that there's so much information out there about virus removal that you likely won't need specifically-tailored advice.

I think most of the people who fell to this kind of scam is the one who clicked those "You have Won" message or other messages that are used as a bait to lure newbies to click it. That's why adding some AdBlock in your browsers will keep you out of these malicious offers. because most of those offers have some hidden agenda.

This is similar to the pestilent alleged Microsoft Support call people get, telling them that their computer is infected by a virus and that they, as Microsoft, will deal with the issue (prior installing some remote control software). Those that do install the software and play along can end-up with their personal data stolen (this includes documents, stored credential, etc.), their computer encrypted for some ransomware attempt, their computer keylogged and monitored, etc. Really a dangerous move to call these numbers or pay attention to them if they call you.

Antivirus software it does not necessarily have to expired to be inefficient, if it is a new threat that is not in database, there will not be antivirus definition to prevent this threat. Of course AV software today is using heuristic method to detect threats, but the effectiveness of this method depends on how good the protection system is, or how well the malware is made.

However, good security solutions are not free, so many uses the free versions or use nothing for online security. Some will say that the ultimate solution is in a Linux based OS, and there is truth in that. But the fact that there is a lot less virus/malware for Linux than for Windows lies only in the fact that very few people use it, and that may change with the increase in the number of users.

As for me personally, a good and regularly updated AV + Anti-malware + OS updated, with AdBlock in browser and common sense, represents a very high level of protection.

What are you talking about? There's nothing about phishing except a phone number there.

We should not do anything /ruff use of our computer which are used for crypto. That means we should have a special computer only for crypto things. If we do so then maybe we will not see this type of messages in computer screen. Mostly these messages come from some sites where lots of add show, porn sites, third party download sites etc. So if we want to do something besides of crypto we should use another computer to be safe with crypto. And must not pay/call these type of scammers.

I guess this can be blocked by some ad-blockers like uBlock Origin or just install a similar extension that you like, I haven't experienced this on my Desktop all ads are blocked. But on my phone Sometimes I am getting a message the same as that, like "you won a Samsung phone" etc. I just close the browser right away. Does anyone know an ad blocker on android that really works? I have installed a few but it does not block ads on android chrome browser. Maybe I should shift on brave browser.
Anyways don't set your default browser to Internet Explorer it is very slow and not good.

Try to go in your chrome app:
1. Settings
2. Site settings
3. Turn of the Pop-ups and redirects and Ads.

Most likely like that sht often comes from thru the Pop-ups and redirects. It is hard to find adblocker in chrome since google is the one operating the ads.
