Irish Horseracing and all Greyhound racing is moving behind closed doors, but until when? We can see a shutdown of all races soon, it depends on the government decision, and let’s hope that this restriction won’t last more than a ~month

All sports(winter) have been shutdown. Ncaa basketball cancelled their March Madness tourney, the NBA shut down, Major league baseball postponed opening day 2 week(possibly longer) as have other sports i'm sure.

Sports are not the only thing suffering, casinos have shut down, restaurants are no longer offering dine in services, schools are shut down, hospitals allowing only 1 visitor per patient, and many other things suffering.

Yes , all the sports have been shut down and that is what is needed right now . Social distancing is not possible when sports events are held right ? This restriction can indeed last more than a month , it depends on the situation of the virus .

Yes, Not getting infected by the virus is the top priority of our world right now and almost all governments forced to postpone events that may build up a big crowd to reduce the victims of this pandemic. Isnt actually a surprising thing imho and as mentioned by yahoo above that everything is almost shutdown due to pandemic reason not only on gambling industry but on other sectors as well.

As long this virus still exist, these operations wont resume. Hoping only for a month? Cant still be sure yet if we do try to check out the progress of covid19, it becomes worst as day passed.

At first I was thinking "why would there be no horse racing, horses are not getting infected?" for a while. Afterwards I realized maybe it is the visitors. I mean even if lets say jockeys are prone to infection if they race, but greyhounds have no jockeys so it can't be that, it must be the viewers. Think about it, there are thousands of people who go to these places and watch these races every single time it happens, plus many of them are very old as well, it is famously loved by elderly posh people as well.

It means this precaution must be for the people in the stands who are too close to each other and watch it and not the animals. I still have no idea if animals could be infected or not, I have searched it but there is no %100 answer to it so far.

Well, we have nothing to do with the restrictions and postponed sports right now. The best thing to do for now is to abide and follow the procedures the authorities are giving to protect our health against the covid pandemic. Everything is being shutdown for social distancing and to avoid the spread of the pedantic covid 19. In our area of influence, --is indeed what we can do is to have more patience and hope that covid-19 get rid and will go away soon.
Indeed, I am excited to watch Alvarez vs. Golovkin fight but it was postponed too.

I don't think so.
In my local, the most popular cricket league IPL has been postponed and the governing body is yet to come to a fix date. There's no certain time frame when it may start although some say it will be around last of April but the way Covid19 is spreading I doubt it will be easy to start within 1 month. I guess it will exist much longer than we are expecting it to be.

Very sad news to gamblers who really want to bet on horse racing or other kind of sports. We really don't know on how long will be the game postponed. Let's just hope that covid-19 won't stay too long and every sports will be continue to play especially tournaments. All we can do for now is wait.

There's nothing on the Australian T.A.B.'s website to even say there should be social distancing much less postponing or cancelling Australian / New Zealand race fixtures.

The Australian Govt has introduced a 500 person's outside, or, 100 persons inside rule except for shopping centres etc. so in theory country races could keep going, but not the city meets.

Transmitted to what animals exactly? horses, dogs (heard dogs don't get it?), chickens, etc? Another thing is to know if can be transmitted from animals to humans.
Ponies =virtual horses? It is probably better than racing with real horses. Sometimes I wonder if the real horses are ok with people using them in racing. It could be a good way of getting them exercise once in while though. They mostly look healthy to me, and well taken care of.

in italy too same situation.
A very interesting thing in Italy is that related to football. friendly matches in esports have been set up, and people like it.

they are now thinking of making official matches, a sort of virtual championship (esport)

And the Greyhounds are still operating "normal", well without watching live, but still operating

If they shut down all, like is the case for the UK Horseracing, I'm afraid that there will be lot of abandoned dogs, cause if they are not able to run, and make profit... you know what can happen to them

same here . i dont heard of diseases exist on horses but to other animals that you mention above yes they have histories  but corona is said to exist on bats and pangolin only and not on other animals so its still safe to use horses i guess but still events that are crowded should be shutdown temporarily to avoid people from getting infected  .

 there are still online horse race and the horse are not real but i think they can be easily manipulated unike to a real horse that is controlled by humans   .

All economy activity depend government decision, they must shutdown many place to make sure the virus not spread. It's hard for us specially when we need move into another place for fun and income. On line network is our solution right now and I believe many game still open for us, such as casino. If possible you can try join gambling community, they will help you find open gambling for you.

If people will care much more and keep their hands, hair, body, clothes clean as possible, wear masks, disinfect all around as much as it is possible, the virus will not be able to spread like it does now
The shutdown of all is not always the best solution
