The website doesn't explain things very well. So if you die, your relatives upload your death certificate and then the other users of the fund "vote" on whether or not to pay out?

A couple of things:

How are they going to protect against fraud? It is trivially easy in some countries to get fake death certificates or other such documents.
There is no incentive for people to vote against every claim. Selfish people could quite easily vote down everyone else's claim, hoping to then get more money for either themselves or their friends.
There is also no link to the smart contract yet, so it is impossible to tell whether it will actually function as advertised or whether this is just a scam.

There are just 3 links on the website. Something that explains how it works. If you go to donate then it asks you to visit their social media links and of course "Join".

There is no verified smart contract to show how the funds are locked or how they will be disbursed. I would say it is a shameless scam at worst or an attempt to make a database of documents from people at best. The website as of yet is only asking for "interest". Why would someone come up with such a foolish idea. Claim settlement on blockchain could actually be quite possible but the infrastructure and trustlessness needed to maintain the privacy would require more than starting an asinine website at the time of a universal calamity.

Frankly, i wish people stopped coming up with these ideas trying to rob people with sob stories. These stupid stories about how 1 dollar is a lot for them, give them hope, oh the poor. In the words of the great George Carlin, "Fuck the poor". This is pretty much bullshit.

In addition to the above comments:

  • The "COVID-19 counter" on that website isn't even live (it shows 201,503 [archived] but as of this moment it's actually 297,554 [archived]).
  • Based on his/her "trust ratings", it's safe to assume that this user is just attempting to scam.

I also believe this kind of project usually done more worse than good because it was not suported or partner with any health agencies and NGO organization which well know. Besides, nothing guarantee all the fund collected will be well used.
OP, if want something insure in this pandemic season support and help the health body in your country to fight the virus

There is no need for further research about it. Even for a first look, it's not trustworthy.

If you want to help, you can donate to your reputable organizations in your country.

If you want to receive some help, there should be an organization where you can ask for assistance but in most of the cases, it's automatic especially in an area where there is a great number of confirmed cases.

If more, than 50% vote positively, 10% of all unclaimed funds, but not more than equivalent $100 000 are reallocated from the smart-contract to the claimer`s wallet

One thing is for sure insurance/reimbursement claims doesn't work this way. Why the hell would a group of people vote on your insurance being claimed if you are really positive with the COVID-19? When you have a sickness covered by your health/medical insurance it doesn't go to this kind of process and surely they don't have a voting system for claims of their insured. If you want some kind of protection from medical bills go with a local insurance company itself that covers viral diseases instead of wasting your time and money on a broken system like this.

Quick question regarding the concept in bold. Is there a limitation on *who* can vote. For example, it would be much more secure for users who had coverage before the claim to be able to vote, but users who signed up after shouldn't have this privilege. The problem is, how do you define that date.

There is a major flaw in the sense that someone could very easily abuse this though premeditation:

For example:

Step 1. Create fake death certificate.
Step 2. Buy in to the program with plenty of fake accounts. At-least a number higher than the average of users who vote.
Step 3. Using the fake death certificate, make a claim.
Step 4. Using the fake accounts, vote in favour of the death certificate.

This is the one area where centralized control over the claims may be better, or you'll have to have insane KYC practices in order to get rid of abuse - neither of which people are going to be very friendly towards.

I share this opinion, a lot of  Corona based project on Cryptocurrency are coming out, people should be very careful we don't know who are the people behind this project, they just want to make profit from this pandemic which is not right, we must just focus on the top coins in the market and help to get it back on track.

I can be wrong. But for me it's very similar to scam:
1. I don't see terms and comditions on the site. It's necessary if you want to accept payments. Even if it's a charity.
2. Who are the persons behind the site, the team?
3. Where are any reports? Who have got their help?

Frankly speaking, our complience would decline this site if they asked us for payment processing.

What I know is that this is going to turn out to be a scam or it's already a scam. The covid19.insure website I checked isn't
1. HTTP secure
2. Asks for a minimum donation of 20$ in ETH which is already a big red flag to me because donations isn't meant to have minimum and the minimum should not even be as high as that amount there
3. No info about foundation team member and partnerships seems to be fake.

I'm going to report them, using a pandemic to get some money is disgraceful behavior in addition to the misinformation that this website provides.
Unfortunately, any use of Covid19 or requesting money through it is an indication of scam unless the other party provides documents that prove the sincerity of the donation campaign that it intends to make, so whoever wants to donate is better to donate directly to the health authorities in his country.

The role of smart contracts in financial transactions to prove the arrival of funds between the two parties, but it is difficult to use them if someone is confirmed to have contracted the disease or was exposed to death.

I don't know whether this is scam promote or not but just in overall, don't trust such websites. From the perspective of scams, current situation is good to launch scam fund rising projects and collect some money because of kind people that may become victim of it.
So people have to realize that they must ignore every random website, use only official fund rising channels if you really want to help.
For this, check local services... For example in my country Glovo and Visa united and money payed for delivery will be doubled and donated to those who need free food and some other basic needs.
So check, there will be a lot of services with similar donations, you'll bemefit yourself and also benefit others too.

Not a new thing and we have seen lots of similar schemes on where these scammers trying to take advantage on any situation or things that we are facing. Basing into those points above given

where it does set out a minimum amount to be given or to be donated then thats already a concrete sign that this one is just trying out to scam people.People arent that dumb enough

on easily to believe about donation thingy and i agree that it would be more worth if we do just donate directly than going to these BS things.

People trying to take advantage for the situation since they know that majority is desperate for their welfare at this point and we should know that theirs nothing the same like this came out yet not unless if they go directly to legit institution regulated by government since if those platforms does not have any legal basis nor documents then its a big red flag since its a big scam.

We should be vigilant just like normal days since on BS didn't select on what is the status of the country and financially they just after to get money without leaving a mercy.

True, the number of donations sites and insure about Covid has been growing up in the past weeks and saddly 90% of them are scam. If people want to make a donation, support or need an insured, then you should look to their local options, there is nonsense to support other countries while our own countries are fucked up too.
