I'd rather ask myself when the upcoming recession, depression or whatever this fucking thing we've entered is, is going to end. When this ends, alts will maybe boom. Or maybe this is the ultimate test for cryptocurrencies and it's gonna end with a fail. Who the fuck knows. We've entered a very unpredictable year.

I wouldn't hope for an altcoin season for the following 1 year at least. Blood's gonna be on the streets, literally.

It all depends on the price of Bitcoin. If the price of Bitcoin is in the region of $ 20,000, then we should definitely wait for the Altcoin season. so far I do not see such a high price for the first coin.

altcoin season is likely to come soon this year, especially for the current bitcoin price is still consolidating at $ 4000- $ 6000 according to the chart, this will make room for altcoin, see when bitcoin prices fall to $ 3800, altcoin can survive even if it drops 25% - 35% is a good thing, and it's a sign, believe me

I agree with your opinion, because I have experienced huge profits in 2018 when the price of bitcoin surged and altcoin followed the price of bitcoin, I hope it will happen again this year.

Most have learned their lesson so now they follow the BTC moves at the same time because they expect the alt season you're talking about. If you take a look over the price changes on the top 100 coins, you'll notice +90% of them have the same pattern as BTC (excluding stablecoins, of course).

This makes me think the next alt season will start together with the Bitcoin one. Now there are obvious reasons a coin may pump or dump completely non-dependent of BTC (example: partnerships, new updates etc) but put this aside and you'll have the same trend as BTC.

Moreover, if you don't get to take in the profits from your alts at the right time, you will most likely lose more than if you had held your funds in Bitcoin.

I must learn to stop mentioning BTC every 2 words I write

in short, bitcoin is crypto that is the parent of a market where the trend will depend on it. for example the trend of buying and pumping prices, if bitcoin happens like that then altcoin will follow the trend because altcoin is actually an alternative coin, where altcoin will be the second choice after bitcoin. then don't be surprised if the crypto trend is always preceded by bitcoin. the fact that happened in the crypto market so far is also the case, where the trend is always preceded by bitcoin be it bull or bear. so the altcoin season starts when bitcoin also starts to rise.

I think altcoin will recover soon and bitcoin will certainly grow again if there is more good news. At the moment, the epidemic is causing people to worry and that is the only reason investors are panicking during this time. Of course, I also sold some coins when the market fell but still kept the top 10 coins because most of these coins depend on the price of Bitcoin

Altcoins could be independent if they are actually having something to develop and something has a market of its own to generate a demand/supply crisis so as to raise the price of that coin. This is generally not seen with all of the altcoin launched till date so the end result is that thy piggyback on the price of bitcoin.

I agree to this. In short, altcoin always rely on the main market, because they are just Alternative Coins, they always go with the flow with Bitcoin. However, there are times that Altcoin pumps (a little) even though that Bitcoin's price is on the dump state, and could be vice versa. Therefore I guess it is correct to conclude that when Bitcoin hypes up, so does the Altcoin. So for now, we just have to hold the remaining tokens we have from 2017, cause they are more promising than to the ICOs nowadays.

At this point of time, I would not based on the chart as the market now is not normal, there is a global pandemic, it affect everyone of us, so maybe let's just look on when this pandemic will stop and then we will talk about the possible bullish period of bitcoin or crypto market.

As long as we are still not sure when this will be stop, altcoin season or bull run is not likely to happen this year.

Altcoin season will come, no need to worry. Meanwhile, we need to enjoy this moment for a while because bitcoin and some altcoin have to decrease again. We don't know if this is just another correction, or it will go down deeper than yesterday or a few days ago, but we need to prepare for every possibility that will happen. I remember that in 2016-2017 when the altcoin season comes before bitcoin price hit the highest price, every altcoin started to increase so high, and that makes many people make a lot of money from crypto. So based on that history, I am sure that the altcoin season will come soon because we already see the market is at a lower price for a long time.

What you say is very true in the crypto world often happens like that altcoin always affects Bitcoin, but not only that the value of Bitcoin and Altcoin Rising also very influential on the positive news that discusses the advantages of Bitcoin and vice versa, and now the dominance of bitcoins decreases because the Korona virus is caused by disrupting trade activity in every country.

oh here is the pandemic virus again . i think im tired of seeing this , why people always connect it to the value of cryptos ? cryptos were already been this way at all times , believe me that once the virus has pass out the market are still potential to huge drops  .

about the altcoin season , i think it will not come this times because look at bitcoin  , btc is still on critical state  . linking btc to alts is more possible than btc/crypto to corona because its already proven many times based on me and others observation .

when such a situation, it is very difficult to predict the development of crypto in general. because until now there are still many countries that have just begun a virus pandemic. and we know this virus outbreak seems to be a world epidemic, so the world will be together to overcome it. I think if this virus can be handled, then the crypto world will recover

Didn't in 2018 Bitcoin experience a slight price drop? so that some Altcoins also fell, because as I recall, the growth of the very good Bitcoin only occurred in 2017, as soon as it entered 2018 Bitcoin immediately experienced a fall in prices.

Still far from the altcoin season because in times of crisis like this no coin will have the potential to rise unless the corona virus outbreak really disappears in this world so I think that recovery can happen again.

But the altcoin season I think there has never been more altcoin now being shitcoin on the market or bullish and bearish so keep looking at the views of others responding that the altcoin season will exist.
I think that's impossible.

I don't think the altcoin season is coming right now. it might come after halving arrives, it's just that we don't know the right time, especially when there is still a virus outbreak spreading. however, current conditions are very difficult to predict. Well, it's hard to predict the altcoin season when bitcoin prices still go down like this.

Most of the time the price of altcoins depend on bitcoin.

When btc increase alts do follow thats why this year many investors are looking forward for bitcoin halving because of the possible effect on it to bitcoin's price. But unforunately covid-19 affect the whole market making the price of crypto to decline.

In 2018, bitcoin started to fall while alts are soaring high until the second quarter thats what I recall.

It is difficult to determine when an altseason starts because it is difficult to predict market movements. I agree that there is a condition where the dominance of bitcoin decreases called altseason but we also have to look at the marketcap value because if the marketcap value is fixed then the bitcoin price is going down

I don't think covid-19 affects the price of cryptocurrency. The behavior of bitcoin in the market is not much different from what it was before the coronavirus. Traders were able to get up to 80% of the profit in the last 10 days. I think that the halving of bitcoin will have a greater impact on the price of altcoins .
