I recently learned from an article that various instant exchanges have mobile applications that essentially provide the same functions as the web versions. I can understand when massive platforms like Amazon create their applications. The web version in the smartphone looks rather bulky and inconvenient to use. But here, all that the user is interested in is one page with exchange pairs and an exchange button. I was wondering, why do platforms with such simple functionality create mobile applications that duplicate the functionality of the site, if everything is implemented quite simply on the web? Surely, I am missing something, so I want to put everything in its place.

You're right ... the application is only made to give you easy access ... i mean, just open exchange app, you can access the exchange fastly without open website link in web... Grin

I think it's just based on preference, some people prefer using apps and others prefer their mobile browser. If it's for instant exchanges I agree there's really no good reason to have a mobile app unless they give you a much more convenient experience. The only time i've used an app over the web browser is because once you've linked your account on the app they'll only require a pin or code.

An application can allow more secure (fingerprint) login for example.
An application can have the UI and functionality better optimized to small screens than a web page can be made.
An application can use push notifications, which in certain user cases are quite important (fast confirmation) and in other cases gives better chance the information is read (advertising).

And it's up to the users. Over the years (not only for Bitcoin), I have services which I prefer to use from web page (on the phone) and others which I prefer in app.

Since there are more people accessing the web from their smartphone and tablet, having their own app becomes a must for some businesses. The poster above gives good reasons.

Personally I hate using tablets and smartphones, it takes more time to do what you want to do than using a web browser. I even refuse to use a website if it doesn't have a web version and can be used only via an app.
Slow internet, slow device, small screen, f*ck that lol

I think having a mobile app is really more convenient. It's like a bookmark on your favorite site but the design is also better adjusted to your screen.
So it's just easier for some users.

As for the intentions of the company which creates the application, it definitely helps to increase user loyalty.
Also, you can still add more additional features for the mobile application if needed in the future.

Since script kiddies are become more resourceful making phishing websites, a mobile app is way too convenient and secure to its users when accessing the platdorm though there are some limitations in smaller device than using a desktop especially when viewing trading charts, but it's still way more helpful especially you can access the platform anytime you want

Real talk when talking about the difference when im accessing a platform via website direct or application? Im too hassled when everytime i do need to Zoom in and Zoom out.

When you are in app which is more lite than on web version. Some platforms though had already utilize surfing optimization but i do still prefer on using an app specially when you are in transit.

The demand for this is increasing due to the likes of the customers. We're not all the same and we have preference upon using an exchange, we are in the modern days where we can bring our smartphones rather than laptops.

It's convenient that these exchanges are making their own mobile apps. But if you are not comfortable using it, you still have the option to the traditional and web version.

Litterally, i do agree with what Legauloi said above about it's not confortable to use the mobile instead of desktop pc. Especially with exchanges if the user is an active trader who would forcelly need to navigate over many tabs.
However, i find it efecient for exchanges which have wallets that users can use for regular paiements, to have a mobile wallet app; i can mention the example of 'Trust Wallet' made by binance and also 'blockchain wallet' for blockchain.com exchange.

snip-
I was wondering, why do platforms with such simple functionality create mobile applications that duplicate the functionality of the site, if everything is implemented quite simply on the web?
The purpose of having a mobile application in most trading platforms because of particularly handy and easy to access from traders. It is also easy for them to track their trading activities even though not sitting in front of their personal computer. But I didn't use personally an exchange app for monitoring my portfolio.

Instead, I use a tracking app (like BlockFolio) because it is easy to monitor. Most mobile now has a feature of browsing any exchange web platform. So for me, the app of the exchange platform isn't necessary to use. PC is very convenient to execute trading.

When it comes to comfortability then theres nothing can beat out when you are on a pc because it can give out the best trade experience compared when you are on a phone.
Big screen and can handle multiple tabs or you can work out on other task as well in a matter of few clicks. When you are on a smartphone its really not that efficient when
it comes to multi-tasking but well if you are on a trip or out on your house then mobilephone would be your best buddy.I do prefer on having an app than have nothing at all.
It depends on users preference though.

There are many reasons why platforms repeat all features. Take, for example, Facebook. They have two versions, one of which is light for those who want to use the basic features and the other that contains more detailed features, given that some users rely on their devices on a daily basis.

In fact, some telephones have the same capabilities as computers and are therefore the best and therefore they must contain all the features.
Do not forget that the decision to trade is made based on a lot of analysis, which requires adding more features.

I think that this is at least convenient, because in this case you don't need to go to this site, enter the name of the site in the search, etc.
For example, Changelly app has a convenient interface. I think this is much more convenient than just a website.
The example of Changelly app is not that appropriate. Changelly is an instant exchange service, like a swap tool. Even they asked you to do kyc, but it's not convenient with daily active traders, so a mobile app can handle all tasks that a user needs to do.
In my opinion, going to desktop navigator, using the search option, checking login details , is more secure than just using my mobile because i won't have any option if i lost access to my phone or if the phone is broken or stolen.
Also with phones, it's not compatible to store private data like passwords and private keys of my personal wallets.
Desktop versions are the suitable option for the best trading experience.

These days people are more online on mobile rather then on PC. Therefore we find that every good business or service has a mobile app. It will give you more business and customers if you also have a mobile app for your business.
Some companies make a lighter version of their web through mobile app.

From my point of view, yes because these days people are very busy with their work.anybody can't give enough time of pc or laptop. They carry their mobile phones and uses for everything like trade, check balance. In exchange trading looks much more easier then website just like Binance app. This app work very smoothly.
So I think exchanges definitely needs app to get much easier for traders.

I have installed this Changelly app. And I think that a mobile app is needed because no one is using the web version. Most of the services people use in the form of apps. In general, I don't see any differences between the mobile app and the web version of this app.
How can you say that the web version no one uses? there are users that prefer the web version and the same with the mobile app. I agree that there's not that much difference between the two versions.

This is just a matter of what we prefer and what we want and like to use.

I myself prefer to use the web version rather than the app since I think that's quite easy to use and accessible to me and I think many will think similar.

My friends are using the web to so I believe there are more web browser version user rather than the app since if I'm not mistaken the web version come out first so it gather more user after the app.

I was wondering, why do platforms with such simple functionality create mobile applications that duplicate the functionality of the site, if everything is implemented quite simply on the web? Surely, I am missing something, so I want to put everything in its place.

I agree, maybe there are people who prefer exchanges mobile apps. But personally, I'm an old school and would rather do my trading in a huge PC screen or even a laptop. I guess to others, it's very convenient as they can do the trades on the fly. However, you need to be very careful, as a simply mistakes might lead t to a big lost on your end. Plus, I think mobile apps are less secure as compare to desktops so the risk is high as well as far as security. Perhaps you can used the mobile apps just to check, but for trading purposes I would say a desktop or laptop will be a better option.

Mostly, we like to use the web versions but it's not like that all the time. Preference are changing whenever we experience something great from using the other version and that's how our preferred versions changes.

There are actual web users because the features are easy to navigate with the use of your personal computer or laptops. While the app version, this is for convenience whenever you are away from your PC/laptop.
