They are not going to block a phishing site ads immediately because they want to earn from it first. They will wait for the website to be reported multiple times to https://safebrowsing.google.com/safebrowsing/report_phish/?hl=en before they take them down. They make it look like they are truly fighting phishing scams while profiting from them. It's a win-win situation for Google.

It's a pain to be honest. A while ago, someone was complaining about scam/fake antminer seller on google ads. It's better to not to use google as your main search engine, not at least things related to crypto; this industry has been the main place for online scammer I guess.
Use duckduckgo or brave browser instead and get out of google as much as possible to avoid possible scam.

Things like this should be taken care upon immediately. There are a lot of less tech-savvy people, and they could easily be scammed with an easy search of cryptocurrency especially when they have time to look upon things, like with the current happenings today.

Sad that with these types of ads, it would continue to be a bad look on crypto.

Scams exists inside and outside of crypto since forever, and scams will exist until the death of humanity. Unfortunately some people will only learn to take security seriously and stop being overly careless once they get scammed. I mean, that's how I became security conscious when I was like 12. It only took 1 online game scam and it never  happened again more than a decade later.

I agree with you and it's going to be never-ending because it will continue whether we like it or not. Some people are scammers and that's just the way it is. What we do about it is how we are going to be able to avoid it.

I mean, that's how I became security conscious when I was like 12. It only took 1 online game scam and it never  happened again more than a decade later.
That's good for you. You became self-aware and maybe less trustworthy that anyone that comes your way. I also experienced that in online games, there's a lot that I played. I'm curious about what game that is though. Hm Grin

The game was GunBound(the classic version by Softnyx). It was a typical crappy phishing site that was said to be giving away free items(Phoenix Azul if I remember, one of the most expensive items at that time). Was super stupid but I was like 11 or 12 and it was just less than a year of me using the internet so whatever.

It's so sad. And this can't be stopped because Google also wants to earn money and it's difficult for them to filter scams just like that. Beginners are the one that is mostly going to fall for this. Imagine a beginner Google search Coinbase and a fake site comes up.

Best is to spread awareness about this things whenever we are mentoring someone on crypto.

I also noticed that Yandex distributes malicious websites under the guise of advertising. I wonder if someone has sued Google or some other search engine for losing money through their fault? I believe that they must be held financially responsible for such actions. Or am I wrong?

I see. I used to play that too but I wasn't experienced enough there to really have to be scammed though. There is still no authentication back then it's quite easy to get hacked for sure. At least now there are a lot of security measures that you could do in order to protect your account. Same goes for your cryptocurrency.

Crypto ads have been allowed on Google for a while already. Also, scams like this manage to get through because the ad submission part is mostly automated. It'd be incredibly unrealistic to expect Google employees to go through every single ad submission before they approve/decline them.

Go through every single ad submission no, but they don't seem to be doing anything with sites with domain names looking similar to domain names used by high-traffic sites. But it's not that they aren't doing anything so perhaps they have other priorities and maybe cryptocurrency-related site scams aren't common enough for them to care (yet).

anyway, be careful
suggestions:

1_ bookmark this forum as preferite

2_ use adblock

3_ report the ad here: https://support.google.com/google-ads/contact/vio_other_aw_policy

Better use Brave Browser as it easily and quickly detects suspicious websites. Yet, first of all, why search for bitcoin forum if you are already knowledgeable with this? It is too questionable that you would search and be redirected to a website you already knew was suspicious. Andd, those who've read this post/thread would be somehow familiar with the Domain Name of the forum.

But still, u don't need to swear that much here. We understand your concern, yet please be kind.

Are you sure that is the name of the site you found? I could not access the domain, and the references I’ve found to it are pretty old (and with the .org extension instead of the .com extension), so I was wondering if they has resurrected the domain name.

i.e. 2014 -> phishing emails from bitcointaik.org .

Could you recheck or confirm the exact spelling so people can report it properly?

I do not understand why some people persistently complain that Google serves them scam ads, and at the same time, it is quite simple and free of charge to not see such advertisements at all. Nor is complicated, nor is science fiction to use browser like Firefox and plugin like uBlock Origin, and that way you can forget Google Ads when you search the internet. Of course, this does not mean that you are protected from pages that appear as a regular part of the search, so do not trust to any site, check before logging in or creating account.

I have my bookmarks saved for years, and that is including this forum - but I still check it every time before logging, better safe than sorry Wink

Could you recheck or confirm the exact spelling so people can report it properly?

The only similar site I find is listed in normal search results, not as Google Ad.

Same here, both bitcointaik com and org are not currently registered.

https://whois.domaintools.com/bitcointaik.com
https://whois.domaintools.com/bitcointaik.org

Org was dropped years ago it seems and has not been registered again, com has never been registered.

Really curious what the OP saw.
Searching for "bitcoin forum" I never got such an ad, us/de/fr Ip (obviously disabled adblock)

Try using DuckDuckGo instead of Google, it doesn't have ads and respects privacy. They also improve the quality of search results quite fast, but if you aren't happy with it, learn to take measures to protect yourself from Google results. Never ever click on ads, install adblock, and if you are looking for an important site (exchange, bank, etc.) then independently verify the domain you are about to visit, instead of immediately clicking on the site. It will not only protect you from phishing, but also from scam services.
