Reputation board in a different section.

I have been contemplating the most suited section for the reputation board for a while now, for several reasons I feel it shouldn't be a child board of Trading discussions which is in the economy section.

The board is meant for threads related to [account] reputation, and it is much broader than the Scam accusation board imo.
Most of the threads in it are not directly related to trades and are rather about forums stuff, such as merits, the trust system, account trades or use of multiple alts.
Also every so often, posts meant for reputation are posted in Meta, until the OP is advised to move it to the more appropriate section.
So basically, Meta is meant for discussions about the forum, while reputation is meant for discussions about the members of it.

Should Reputation be a child board of Meta?
Or should it be a board of its own?
Or is it perfectly fine where it is?

I don't know what will be the units to measure the perfection here but I think the current setting is doing the work. I have no creative proposal for it yet :-D

"Reputation" board has been created for talking about reputation of people who trade and that's why it's under "trading discussion" board. But Reputation board is now being used for other purposes as well. I'm not saying it's used incorrectly. It's being used correctly, because there isn't any other board more suitable than "reputation" board for talking about some other issues.
Even the main purpose of Trust system was to rate people based on their trades. That's why when a flag against a user is created, the message shown in the profile is about risking of losing money when dealing with the user.

Now trust system, "Reputation" and "Scam accusations" boards are correctly being used for different things.
However the "reputation board" is being used, I think it's working well.

But if some others believe that "reputation board" is being used incorrectly, below are my suggestions.

1. Adding a sub-board for the current "reputation" board.
2. Having a new board called "Reputation" with two sub-boards. One for traders reputation and one for other things.
3. Using the current reputation sub-board for traders reputation and add a new sub-board under "Meta" for talking about users.

But as I said, the reputation board is working very fine. It is being used for different things without any problem. No change is needed.

This answers a part of my inquiry. The original trust system was intended for trades only, but with the creation of flags, it now covers much more than that and post on reputation board also now covers more than that, making trading discussion look like a bad fit for the child board.

I don't think a sub board is necessary atm, it would confuse a lot of things, putting it in Meta is also a bad idea in my opinion, would bring too much drama. I would go with making it a board of its own.

No. Meta is the board for forum related issues, not personal ones.

Reputation, is a kind of personal stuff and it is clearly not belong to Meta board, or not correct to have it as a child board in Meta.

There is another negative view for the forum, if Reputation appears in Meta, it will make the forum looks so weird, ugly with many scam accusations and crying from days to days. Scammers and scam detectives fight each other over scam accusations. How the forum looks like if all those scam accusations appear in Meta. I don't think it will be what you expect to have.

Meta is the board for discussions about the Bitcoin forum generally speaking and not only for forum issues (most topics aren't about issues btw.). I don't see what is 'personal' in Reputation, I would say the opposite, issues among forum users that need to be public, and related to the Bitcoin forum on top of that.

It won't make the forum looking weird, it will make it more organized and tidy up like my bedroom, like a good boy.
At the same time, Meta has a child board with the Bitcoin wiki which is unrelated to the forum for me.

I never understood why Reputation is still a child board of Trading considering 99% of topics aren't related to trading/exchanges issues

@theymos and @mprep: already mentioned it and arranged all the rules of the Bitcointalk forum scenario perfectly: Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules, guidelines, FAQ, why should make additional work for @theymos/@mprep, for one Reputation field to change it and edit existing rules and overhaul them, the existing rules are very neat and enjoyed by many members from 2009/2014 until now.

Just enjoy what already exists, proposals for additional new rules might be needed, existing rules for what must be changed, he already has the right place.

Idon't see any issue about current place of Reputation child board. I don't see what would change if we would move it somewhere else. I see only one place where it can be moved - Meta. But probably Meta is for for forum related discussions, while Reputation is for personal things. So, IMO changes aren't needed.

Agree. I don't deny that there are some overlap areas between forum's reputation and personal reputation but the overlap are is too small to move Reputation board to Meta board.

Look at things like this: all things on the forum are relate to the forum, at different levels. They all are posted on the forum so sure they are related to the forum. If we look at all things on the forum this way, all of boards or child boards here are all belong to Meta board. That's weird and will make Meta board looks like a multi-in-one board, that will be covered by both high quality, decent posts and thousands of shit posts. The problem is shit posts are dominant in numbers compare to decent posts.

I really just wanted to get the members opinion on this suggestion. I understand It's improbable that the admins were going to implement it with all the projects yet to be implemented.

I don't think there's enough of an overlap to support this. Almost all other boards and child boards I've looked into are currently placed in my opinion except the reputation child board.
But I understand the reservations of everyone on the matter, so I'm locking the thread for now.
