We know that a few days ago a network of Bitcoin-to-QR-code generators has stolen more than $45,000. So be careful when you will use QR code.
For your safety, you must check the address multiple times after scanning the QR code. Otherwise, you could be a victim.

Using the QR or copy pasting isn't the issue. That's just a shortcut. You paste/scan the QR, verify the address and go on with the transaction. And you don't just use a random QR generator you found in the internet. Instead, go with something more trusted (like Blockchain.info or an open source tool) and always verify.

I don't think literally typing all characters one by one is really necessary.

I doubt anyone in this earth would do that. I was mistaken, I would not believe if anyone would tell me rather than writing. I believe written stuff. I would never do that. It's pretty easy to copy and paste then find similarity between the address. Hacker will never be able to replace with same address as of your sending address. One or two or couple of characters are exception, they may be similar coincidently.

I think blockchain.com explorer provide the qr code option. It's pretty easy to get the qr code from there.

QR code is just another type of display for your key inside your wallet. So losing your QR code or your key is not different on potential risks. But QR code is more risky because it is more convenient for bad guys to try and test it. They will have to spend more time (if they are not professional, of course) to type or Copy & Paste key manually.

I never use QR code, for my exchange accounts to my wallet and my 2FA code. I type them manually to activate and back them up in characters, not QR codes.

That's sad, one of the best to send of Bitcoin especially in some physical stores that accept Bitcoins is through QR codes.
My piece of advice is also to double-check the bitcoin address generated by the QR address. That's my habit, even crypto/non-crypto, I always double-check the result of QR codes, like the bitcoin address generated, like some first few digits or some last digits of the address for confirmation before sending your Bitcoin.

Every day we are hearing some news that people scammed continuously in a new and unique way. Scammers also running their unique strategy every day. They will not stop their journey. I've never done that even once in all those years and hundreds of transactions.
And yeah, I've used even QR codes when telling an ATM where to send the codes or when I was paying for something.

I imagine myself in front of an ATM and typing my address one letter at a time and checking it a hundred times because I'm sure I'll get one or two letters wrong making it invalid. Probably the police will pick me up before I manage to finalize the transaction, thinking I'm trying to break the ATM.

I can't understant why would anyone use an online tool to generate the qr-code when every decent wallet app have this feature integrated by default!

In case their wallets do not allow generating qr-codes or for any other reason they have to use an online tool, the least they can do is to decode the provided image and read it using any qr scanner/decoder to make sure it contains the right address before using it.

The most important thing note is;
1. Never use third party or random QR code readers. Most wallets have inbuilt QR code readers. If they don't have, Just copy and paste the address and recheck it after pasting to be sure it's the same address you copied

2. Even after using the Wallet's inbuilt QR code, always cross check the addresses and amount to send/receive. It takes only a few seconds.

Till now Using QR code to send Bitcoin isn't secured and suitable.Thats why I will recommend everyone not to use QR code until being safest.

You need to ALWAYS confirm address before clicking SEND. Make sure no trojan horse changed your copy-pasted address or any qr-code generator etc
Security is most important in Bitcoin, its huge problem for wider adoption
