I used to own a trezor but sold it as i stopped using cryptos for a while, now i'm back and i'm using blockchain wallet. Is exodus a good choice? or does it require verification? If it's like blockchain, so no verifications when you get paid / send let me know thank's

It requires no verification, it support multiple cryptocurrencies, the fee charges is automatically adjuste and still better than a web wallet as it is a desktop wallet.

But, it has no two factor authentication, it is not a multi signature wallet, it has no mobile application and can only be used as a desktop wallet,

With all that said, if you can protect your desktop from malware, exodus is still a good computer wallet. You can use this link to know how to protect your wallet generally.

They do have a mobile wallet actually: https://www.exodus.io/mobile/

then it ain't like coinbase that wants verification? is it like blockchain?

That's correct but the wallet is closed source, so you really don't know what to expect. If they suddenly decide to disable exporting PKs for instance, and enforce KYC, then you can't really do anything about it. They have been running for years, so there is no reason to mistrust them but it's something you need to keep in mind when it comes to closed source wallets. So if you're only using it for BTC, I suggest using Electrum instead.

Aside from that, the wallet is basic and very user-friendly, so if you insist on using it, just don't keep large amounts in it, they don't suggest it themselves: https://support.exodus.io/article/767-how-do-i-keep-my-money-safe

No desktop wallet beats a Trezor in terms of security and if it's the UI that you like, then Exodus does support Trezor: https://www.exodus.io/trezor

Sir, you are very right. I even prefer open source wallets because bugs can be easily fixed by anybody. They are less vulnerable to spyware and other forms of malware. Electrum will be better.

@ sellcoins
Just know that blockchain wallet can require verification if you want to take part in their airdrop programs. This way can lure people using the wallet to do kyc. Aside that, blockchain is not is not fully anonymous because they require email if you want to use the wallet. As for me, emails are also a means of verification. It is better to use wallets that require no email.

I used them up for several months but I think they are vulnerable to some attacks but I recommend you to use electrum instead of any other wallet there.

but if you think exodus is good since it has a good feature then care to try but with proper care and don't leave any big balance for proper protection of your funds.

I suggest using Electrum instead.

Electrum for BTC is the best choice as desktop and even mobile wallet, of course if all the security procedures are followed and the devices where we use this wallet are virus/malware free. If OP is need some multi-currency wallet things are changing, and any free solution probably has some disadvantage. I personally tried the Coinomi desktop wallet, and I have no complaints - but as a longtime user of hardware wallets, I'm used to a higher level of security.

Accordingly, for anyone who is thinking of investing heavily in crypto or being a long-term holder, I advise investing first in some hardware wallet. If someone is investing a few hundred dollars in BTC, then it makes sense that he should invest $50 in the security of his investment.

i feel sorry for the loss of your wallet . you shouldnt have sold it if you think you can comeback again soon on cryptos and you did comeback   .

hardware wallets are better than online wallet you know but what can you do now that you dont have it anymore  . anyway blockchain wallet is okay and exodus is okay too  . been using both of them but i think exodus is more cooler for me as you can exchange coins and it also supports different kinds of alts    . afaik there is an option for verification   .  you can send and recieve with out or without them tho

If you are particularly looking for BTC wallet, I would strongly recommend using Electrum or Bitcoin core. It doesn't make sense using a close source wallet like Exodus at all. Both Electrum and Bitcoin core are open source. No hassle with verification; it's your wallet, your bank.

I'd say it was an "OK" wallet. But I would say that the Trezor hardware wallet that you had (Shocked) or Electrum would be a much better choice.

What are your specific requirements? Are you wanting just a Bitcoin wallet, or did you want to dabble in altcoins as well? Huh

Is exodus a good choice?
 or does it require verification?

Much better read these threads below then decide if you still want to use it or not.

- EXODUS scam or trusted wallet ?
- Is Exodus a safe desktop wallet alternative?
- What if Exodus wallet exit Scam?
- All Crypto assets stolen from Exodus - Anything I can do?

For me, this wallet is good but the security will still be depending on how you protect your wallet.
This is not the best wallet for multi-crypto so if you are looking for a multi-crypto wallet I suggest you switch to Coinomi wallet(Mobile version).

But if your plan is to use the wallet only for Bitcoin then the Electrum wallet as suggested above is the best option.

I've been using exodus for several months now. It has been my main iOS mobile wallet. So far, everything's pretty smooth. I've never encountered any problem with it. It does not require verification. Neither does it require any email. If you are specifically storing some altcoins in there, you can also do that. You can also make conversion right there, BTC <==> altcoin. For BTC, you also have the option to shift from using Legacy to SegWit address, and vice versa. They are using bech32 address for SegWit, by the way.

But I have to emphasize the point of everyone else that it is a closed source wallet. It is not meant to be your main storage.

the real question is if you have any alternatives to use instead!
look around and see if you can get the same features that you want to use with Exodus wallet in another wallet software that is more popular, open source and more trusted. if you have any alternatives then you shouldn't be using Exodus in first place.

The word "best choice" is a comparison test between several options. What are your options? What are the reasons that prompted you to use that wallet?
Let me guess, You searched for "best wallet for altcoins" on Google and showed you that wallet?

With the word verification, do you mean to verify the identity?
Write down needs and you'll hear some options

My personal experience: I had an issue with them, this was back in 2017, as a relatively new user of multi-asset wallets, and the developers actually directly responded and helped till my issue was fixed. I actually stuck with them for a while, especially once Gridcoin qt started to get wonky and it was the only one that seemed to function without issues. But then they removed Dogecoin support -- I can't remember the exact justification, but Dogecoin developers actually responded to their post refuting their claims, yet they (Exodus) didn't back down. Call me a softie for Doge but you don't just make people's coins disappear suddenly from a wallet. Yes, yes, they left you a way to claim it back but only with some inconvenience.

This doesn't even bring up all the other issues rightly raised above... so, all in all, as a beginner until you feel more confident with a proper client, sure. But you gotta move on as soon as you can find a good alternative (and in case of Bitcoin, there are just too many good alternatives to ignore).

Write down needs and you'll hear some options
This is often the critical step that most people seeking help seem to skip... and most people trying to help fail to ask for. Undecided

They're simple enough questions...  "What is the best wallet?"... "Is WalletX a good wallet?"... But the "short" answer is always "It depends"... and the "long" answer will always require a list of the question-asker's goals and needs.

No desktop wallet beats a Trezor in terms of security and if it's the UI that you like, then Exodus does support Trezor: https://www.exodus.io/trezor
bitcoin.org has updated the page to choose the wallet much more intuitive, it is better than before.
https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet?step=5

Found this video about how to choose the safest hardware wallet. It tells of the latest hacks which can happen on the ledger and how trezor has partnered with exodus wallet quite recently, which I wasnt aware of previously. I have used it for over a year now and never really noticed this implementation.
Quite an interesting view from the coin bureau.

Exodus is pretty good. It offers multi-coins support, build-in exchange (but the fees are high) and 24/7 support. I don't like that you’re not able to choose the fee of your transactions. Some smaller wallets like OWNR provide the option to set variable transaction fees.
p.s. Exodus doesn't require passing kyc Wink

Exodus is pretty good.

Not really, no.

build-in exchange (but the fees are high)

Instant exchanges are the worst way of exchanging coins.
They lock up funds regularly and systematically for "security reasons" and require KYC.
Most of them (e.g. changelly) even lie about their country of origin.

and 24/7 support.

Which can't help you because they don't have access to your funds.

I don't like that you’re not able to choose the fee of your transactions. Some smaller wallets like OWNR provide the option to set variable transaction fees.

Every half-way decent wallet allows you to choose the fee.

p.s. Exodus doesn't require passing kyc Wink

Neither does any other non-custodial wallet.
They can't force you to do KYC if they don't have access to your coins.

p.s. Exodus doesn't require passing kyc Wink

Maybe not when you're using the wallet, but it's very possible for the built-in exchange (if used) to ask you for your personal documents.
