Betting in chess sound as a nice way to gamble, the problem is people could use a computer in the hard level to play chess against other people, that way the gamewill be rigged and the winner will be the one with a smarter PC.
So, if you find a place to bet on chess, i would like to recommend you to not place a bet.
I can imagine of that. But there could be some ways to know that your opponent is the one actually playing it. In that manner, you'll be able to verify that there's no one cheating on the match. Or, there are platforms and software that would definitely be for the sake of the PvP so that no one uses an AI that nobody knows that he's been cheated on.

Actually, most chess tournaments that had happen online requires an open camera with either a full bust camera or two open cams (one for face and one for hand). Apparently, there are still no events nor betting platforms that offered chess tournament betting online, as there are many things to consider before accepting the tournament and the game itself on a betting platform. Those considerations to be taken (IMHO) are: 1. The streaming platform that the tournament is being conducted shows their cameras on (as what I indicated above). 2. The game to bet on were happening real-life face-to-face tournaments and also broadcasted online. Yes, betting on chess is fun. I just don't know why still no platforms adopts it, as no one above 1600+ rating would even dare cheat on chess games. It's a matter of their integrity as well.

This avoids the potential cheat that players can do. Now that we have that idea that cheating is avoidable and the trick of those players that has the intention to do it can be by passed. It's certainly fun, I can still remember when I used to play this all day long against the old people in my hood. It's part of my childhood but I didn't pursue to be a good player of it due to being busy.

You can bet on the result of a match on more and more sites. It also seems to me quite easy to cheat with this, because players are quite easy to influence and you really only have to make 1 mistake and then you can quickly lose the game. You don't have to make big mistakes to lose. parties that you can bet on are often players who know what they are doing. But I think there is a limit to what you can bet.

You are probably far from the world of chess and from computer analysis. Firstly, modern chess engines are neural networks that have learned themselves and have nothing to do with "learning" from people. Programs written by people still exist, but this is the previous generation. Secondly, computer programs offer such moves that ordinary "protein" players have not even dreamed of, this is easy to identify.
Yes it is. My judgment is based only on guesses based on personal experience, which has an extremely superficial idea about chess tournaments and analytics. It's good that people like you are always willing to clear things up. Yes, betting on chess is fun. I just don't know why still no platforms adopts it, as no one above 1600+ rating would even dare cheat on chess games. It's a matter of their integrity as well.

Time consuming So its not surprising that platforms would simply just ignore this one. Only true chess fans can overcome these 3 obstacles. This will immediately repel beginners and they will better go to play online games like moba or shooters. In general, it seems to me that the number of new chess players is steadily declining with the development of technology and the spread of the Internet. It’s easier for people to play on their phones and scroll through the social media feed. It’s easier for people to play on their phones and scroll through the social media feed.

I'm sure that the news that he is cheating have shocked the other players on the said tournament especially for those who are believing in him or for those who have been defeated by Igors Rausis. Anyway, it seems that it is not the first time he cheated while using a bathroom break, I mean he could've cheated already before he was caught.
Apart from audience - this is a big stain on his career. I am sure he would be repenting so much for what he has done. Fair game is always liked and admired by the audiences. No One would like to have a tag of cheater along with them - even if they are cheating. Have they had focused on the game - he would have done better than focusing on cheating. Being negatively tagged because of cheating do stain your character and career for good and he will be carrying that until the rest of his life along with the embarrassment he did to himself but I doubt that he is repenting that much because I highly doubt that it was the very first time he cheated on that tournament. Maybe he was doubted by others because his moves doesn't match to his recent plays.

That's true one major mistake in chess means you are likely losing the game. Once the opponent has an advantage it's very hard to recover and one back from that. That is why tournaments in chess are usually across multiple games. If only one game is played it already matters who gets black and who gets white. So the minimum would be 2 games for both players to start with each color. The number of games also means that games become much more strategic. White has an advantage because he moves first, that's why in most games black tries to just for a draw and only play to win as white. The higher the number of games in a match up the lower the variance that the higher rated player will lose.

Unfortunately, once you are tagged as a cheater on chess tournaments, then mostly your career (in online chess) is somehow ruined. Imagine, people reaching the 2000+ rating means that they have at least devoted most of their lives honing their skills. Lots of players, unfortunately, were banned from participating into tournaments because of cheating. I remember, there was a chess GM who frequently visited restroom breaks during his match and it was subsequently discovered that he was hiding his cellphone on his pocket, checking the engine's recommendation on which is the best move to make.

The computer can calculate every possible move, its a brute force tactic. I'm glad they can detect and remove people who use that kind of assistance, its really pathetic. It wont be that rare among the general population because some people will aim to cheat at just about any game they possibly can but actual proper chess players I would hope not as would you ever really improve. Sadly I did hear of a top player recently caught using a computer while taking a rest room break, I'll look for the link
Chess Grandmaster Admits to Cheating by Using Smartphone in Bathroom StallThis incident happened few years back, and in this case Igors Rausis admitted of using smartphone in bathroom during a tournament. He's the oldest player in the top 100 list of chess players. The chess federation also confirmed the act of computer assisted cheating. Can't believe that a pro player will do this? But, it can be that they reach the position they have now by using a cheat? and they don't have a natural skill in playing a chess. This is the disadvantage of online chess because they can be easily cheated by using some software. If there will be a tournament, much better if they do it live or face to face so that all can see the players hands if what moves they are doing. Online chess are only good for casual play or to pass some time and it won't be a big deal if someone will use some software to take advantage of the game. Besides cheating the game is not going to be fun anymore, there is no challenge when you know that you can beat any player.

But if a players cheated to win they are also cheated their life cause a true player never cheats. But those players who will cheat they will not be successful for sure even if you are already a master in your game.

Well, if you search chess cheater in the internet then you will be getting a lot of recommendations with the same name "Igors Rausis" and his face is literally everywhere after he caught red handed using a phone and tagged as a disgraced chess grandmaster. I wonder if he's fine with that or is he now depressed after that incident because he can't really take out that tag easily and I bet he won't be living the same again.

I don't know that guy. But, if he's into chess whole of his life and once used it as his career, there's a big chance that he's depressed from the situation that he made himself in. Although as per data, he's already retired and maybe he has learned already and living somewhere else. Living not anymore related to chess.

It is very sad when someone who should be a respectable figure on a honest and respectable sport with a great tradition of fierce but pacific rivalry takes advantage of the rules to cheat. It is very sad particularly to any rival that is actually dedicating all the time and dedication needed to become better and has to face a cheater. Perhaps the problem with chess is that computers are better than most humans and they are about to catch the grand masters. Eventually, nobody doubts that humans will loose.

At least it was busted in the end rather than on keeping that guy on reigning and dominating this game via cheat and now its been busted or known its secrets then it would be simply a good thing for those who are in next in rank that they could possibly still climb into the ladder knowing that the top of him was a cheater. To those who had beaten up then there's still a chance. I dont see for Chess to be that effective or be applied on gambling platforms and i do agree in most people sentiments on here.

This is just basing up with my own view on why theres no platforms adopt it. 1. Less demand/interest 2. Boring to look at (Less physical movement etc) 3. Time consuming So its not surprising that platforms would simply just ignore this one. A huge respect to your point of view in my suggestion. Yet as what @livingfree already have said, only true players and fans knows the worth and enjoyment chess regardless on what medium it is broadcasted with. Let me breakdown the stereotypes, explain what made those exist, and what really does happen in a mindset of a chess player. 1. Less demand/interest It is true that most of the physical-adopted games tends to have more demand and interest such as basketball or boxing. But with the chess masters streaming chess games and even making their own tournaments on twitch (Hikaru Nakamura and Botez Sisters), chess somewhat became a common game to stream on (look at Twitch - have 2M followers on any chess gamers), even xQC and Moist were addicted to winning it against other streamers. Hence, there are demands, just not on the betting market.. yet. 2. Boring to look at (Less physical movement etc) Well, some really are bored watching people play chess. SOME, but never ALL. Some people even unknowledgeable in chess tends to enjoy it. How do I know? I even watch MINECRAFT streamers stream Chess and their watchers still maintain to be 5K upto 70k+. How was those viewers still watch those if it was boring? Maybe it wasn't. Or in fact, it really wasn't. Should I still explain why it isn't time consuming? Apparently, chess games and streams are even more watched than other games, how? It really just depends on the players and CASTERS. Casting is such a huge thing in online tournaments. We just really aren't that familiar those exists. Lastly, it really is surprising to the fact that those things I say is true and exists. Maybe the betting market has standards or maybe they are just waiting for Chess to be a real mainstream game online? We don't know, until it happens.

That's basically why I quit online gaming. There's rarely any online game where you fight other players that will not make you nervous. Even games where you play with others against an AI can be frustrating.
I can feel you when I've read what you've said. It's true that even we're just playing against AI makes me frustrated because the higher it gets. The intelligence and strategy of these AI are becoming better and I admit that I can't defeat the higher levels it's funny to think that these are no real people but programmed in a better way to play for the better chess players. But if someone really wants to get a focus on this one, he can be one of the best and it's a good training ground that we have nothing lose. Well this has always been one thing that limits us as human beings not being able to beat an artificial intelligence, however when we play online unless it is in a tournament it is something that can frustrate, however there are some pages like the ones I used to play chess21 before, which are very good, they even have a chat where you can interact with your opponent, and since there are several categories in chess, you can play by time, be it 3 minutes, 5 minutes, among others, that is something that each player can define.

Just a quick question about chess I'm aware that there are platforms that combine this game with gambling. My question is, how do we prevent cheaters on this? For example, I play chess online while another computer simulates his moves, and what is the best move to counter it. It's a form of cheating because you can counter it in no time by simply watching the moves. This is really dumb because you are not showing your skills but if the money involves then i think there will be person that will cheat so that he will win

This is exactly the point that I made earlier in the thread. A computer can even beat the world champion in chess, what chance do normal people have? I also think it is not possible to get caught cheating online chess. Even if you setup a camera, and both players are being filmed, one of the players could have their friend in the background simulating the moves and telling him secretely what to do next. So gambling on that is a good way to get cheated out of your money.

In that context, online chess that involves gambling significant amounts isn’t as glamorous as it sounds. It is rather frustrating and losing its mere essence of using one’s skills in analyzing and strategizing movements to win since cheating can be rampant on the said platform. If this what could most likely to happen, I don’t think I would want to drive myself to like online chess gambling.
