As blockchain continue to garner popularity and wider adoption, lately we are seeing a new entrant to the scene,  the globally renowned World Health Organization (WHO) is said to have chosen to cooperate with technology companies and blockchain companies to build a platform based on distributed ledger technology to share data. We gathered that these companies include the famous IBM, Oracle and Microsoft, as well as the fledgling decentralized platform Hacera. Hmmmm,  this is a cheering news for blockchain enthusiasts.

The blockchain architecture built by the World Health Organization is called MiPasa and uses IBM's enterprise-level blockchain Hyperledger Fabric. Basically,  premised on the help of analysis tools and data sources, the project has its cardinal objective to help track the infection hotspots of the new coronavirus. The organization,  MiPasa emphasized that its data analysis and privacy tools will not collect any personal information of any users, just to remind users if someone around them is infected with the new crown.

Definitely not cheering news for me! Do you think the WHO has the same goals we have as cryptocurrency enthusiasts? Certainly not.. They're looking to gather as much data as possible from each and every one of us.. By "decentralizing the health system" you should understand they mean actually the opposite: centralizing & taking control over the entire world's health system..

They're not collecting any personal information but they will localize you and every infected person to let each other know you must keep distance? Are we heading towards a period of time where if you are infected and I am not, I have to reject you from the society? Where if you're infected but I am not, you will not be able to sit next to me, to talk with me, to exit your home or to buy food at the places I buy mine from? Because that's how it sounds like..

It looks like they're starting to use the words "blockchain" and "cryptocurrency" to bait us in their game. Consider me paranoid, conspiracist or whatever you wish - the path we're slowly taking looks scary AF.

Don't tell me about "decentralizing" something when behind this "decentralization" stands a centralized power.. I guess this is the half-step towards merging all countries' health system databases in one. Bookmark this reply and PM me in max. 6 months - see if I was right.

I am seeing this news since yesterday and everyone is sharing links from various crypto websites as a source. I have tried to search Wold Health Organization's official website for such news but unfortunately couldn't find a single mention of blockchain there. So I seriously doubt the correctness of this news! Can anyone please share a link of their official website where it says that WHO is leveraging on blockchain for COVID-19 data?

Me too. I've looked for the sources that op is pointing out but found nothing. I don't think that this should cheer us up, there's a more important thing that the WHO has to tackle and it's no time for this kind of discussion. We want them to report it that the whole world is already covid19 free. I'm a crypto and blockchain enthusiasts but I can't find the cheering vibes that op is trying to send to us. @OP, where are the links for those things that you have said so we can look at the basis.

In my opinion, It should be "cannot collect " not "will not collect". A truely decentralized tech should be built in such a way that rules or principles can't be broken without the breakers(even a sophisticated lawless one) getting caught and punished. You don't promise, you hard code it into the system.
If something good needs to be done that violate the law, the community should know about it and your activities should be immutable for future use/reference by the community.

This is not a crypto project, this is a project to collect data from everywhere and store them on blockchain so it doesn't have any economical beneficial and WHO organization is not something like a government its just an organization and funded by many governments.So if you think you are happy with giving all of your personal data to someone will do more harm in the long term.

It depends on some people's perspective. WHO is helping out a lot of countries and it wouldnt hurt if they will seek for help on bkockchain or fintech companies for support or even donation. See how Binance taking advantage of the scenario but I am not saying they are just doing it for promotions.

People from crypto community knows the boundary or limits of information OP so if they gonna lure us into their palm just to be bitten then its not gonna work.

There had been voices even in the past to store and track medical reports in blockchain. Chinese government is also working for a similar model.

Doesn't matter if the news is true or not, we just do not want to put our name into stuff that are shady and not really trusted or at least has bad connotations so we should not really be looking forward to a partnership with WHO.

If you ask who WHO is (lol) to everyone the best case you will get is people who are curing virus and that is BEST case, there are also a lot of people who think they are the main reason behind all of this as well, so from 1 being worst which is WHO made all of this corona virus for more money, to 10 WHO helps us being saved, all of it is related to bad days and not good days which blockchain should not be connected to if you ask me.

I'm not in love with altcoins and I know even projects like Gridcoin and Foldingcoin which have been giving a lot to charity didn't do well even with all the uptake, but why would you not be cheering if someone uses blockchain tech for a good cause?

Them wanting to collect data from all of us has nothing to do with blockchain, they will do it with or without.

Because if you use blockchain to collect data from me, then that's not good news. If they'll do it with or without blockchain, that means I was right when I said this is the scary path we're apparently taking.

I wish more people cared about their privacy and personal information. Everyone is giving it up so easily as if it's some worthless grain of sand instead of taking care of it and asking for the stoppage of data collection. They've added the Cookies message now to every single website and it takes minutes to get rid of it if you don't want to accept them.. because we've all been educated to be so comfortable you can't even waste a few seconds off your time to protect your personal data.

I think this is a definitely wrong mindset. Just because we're in the middle of a pandemic does not mean they have the rights to collect data on us! Just because people die it doesn't mean they're allowed to localize you and take away that many rights from you! Now that months pass and we get used to the life we are living right now, it's gonna be quite probable to get used to having no rights and this "I know it's bad that they're collecting data about us but... but they're saving us!" mindset.

I don't know, I feel like we, the "peasants", are going absolutely nowhere while corporations are still taking control. We're still dying, everything is still going on while the big ones are becoming even more massive than they were before. We're still going to take Gates' vaccine like it was supposed to happen from before the beginning of COVID-19, we're still going to be forced to stay home without rights if you don't want to take their vaccine/test or we are going to be forced to take it and so on. Life's going on - we're submitting, they're growing up. And everyone says "it's fine! Life is way more important" - well, it won't be much of a life anymore if it ends with force and no rights for all of us.

we can conclude that they will need the blockchain only to improve the logistics of transporting shitty vaccines that Gates loves so much.

Well, if Condesk is stating that it is authentic, there might not be a doubt about that. However, my main concern is that, whatever form it is going to take, even if blockchain technology will be used, those behind it should not dear to solicit for donations from people, because it will be seen as scam. We have read a lot about some scammers coming up for donations and selling coins, in the name of helping to curb the worldwide pandemic (COVID-19).
If blockchain will be used, fine and if not, the drive for adoption continues.

It’s a good news, but I don’t really see a reason why some people are cheering this lol. It’s good that they have adopted the Blockchain at this time for the purpose of keeping accurate data on the pandemic. But you’re wrong in the direction you’re taking it lol; from the way you have explained things here, I understand that you think this is going to promote cryptocurrency, if that’s what you think then I’m sorry it’s not going to work like that.

They have a different purpose for making use of the Blockchain and it’s completely different from what you think, they are heading a different direction, but I do love what they have done here, it shows how useful the Blockchain technology can be in times like this, it can bring the world together.
