I'm afraid it's quite the opposite: we shouldn't underestimate the power of a government. They let us be for the moment but I'm really wondering if they will do the same in the following years. If India was able to ban Bitcoin along with other countries and there was no civil unrest, I am honestly afraid a Bitcoin ban would only be followed by very small and non-significant protests that would result in.. nothing!

The only thing we can do is try to keep following the path we've started (mine is to keep believing in and supporting BTC) and hope a ban or harsher regulations aren't coming.

The governments will soon realize that since Bitcoin is the money chosen by the people themselves with absolute freedom and without the slightest amount of coercion, they will recognize it. Bitcoin is not something imposed on us by some kind of government or ruling power and authority. It is there not even calling us. It is just right there sitting passively as an alternative to what is globally accepted. And yet people freely choose it. We are the ones who will show and demonstrate to the governments that we are choosing Bitcoin.

Im thinking the same way too. Imagine if thr government will control the bitcoin and cryptocurrency which is imposisble in my opinion, they rather use it to benefit only their purse. You know how corrupt mostly those government people. I know Satoshi's goal is to let users free from using a conservative and sophisticated tech of blockchain to buy, sell or trade any things using his bitcoin and even fiat money. The only concern here is its legality since government wanted a controlled system for its system. Under these circumstances, and eventually happened we will see an end on its potential to be a useful digital currency that can be use on the future.

The regulation has already started, these exchanges that we are using is already an evidence that the government is accepting crypto, and more and more regulations will happen in the future, it will not happen right away, just like the adoption we are hoping slowly but we wanted it consistently.

in the future, this market will mature with more regulation and this will be safer than anyone can imagine.

Governments of the most countries are trying to establish new laws and regulation on Bitcoin and crypto trade. This situation isn't good for the crypto lovers because we live in a country and if govt imposes such hard rules, we have to fear of our punishment if we can be caught by law enforcing agencies. Although Bitcoin transaction and trade are fully controlled by the users and here the govt has no control but it should be bear in mind that govt rules play a vital factor in the society.

Problem with the government is , even if Bitcoins at this time is doing a lot of good for the people they are far too proud to admit.
In a crisis , a time like this , government needs to understand the needs of people and lessen their strictness as a matter of fact this way Bitcoins will be able to work like it was designated for.
Trading have alone provided immense profit opportunities for the people around , additionally , people can sell their services online , overseas which is something that they cannot do with a centralized controlled network.

I agree, since the exchanges are paying taxes to the government is already a sign of the government to accept the cryptocurrency to be  flowing any where else. We don't need to worry about this because it isn't the real thing to worry about, if I were asked what to worry with cryptocurrency and bitcoin that would be the centralization process that may end the freedom we have now.

in the future, this market will mature with more regulation and this will be safer than anyone can imagine.
Not quite, good idea. We don't know yet if what will happen, if it will hurt the market now but indeed the regulation is what we needed.

It goes both ways. While the government can't kill Bitcoin for obvious reasons, it can definitely HEAVILY cripple it's adoption. Imagine if the US government declares ownership of bitcoin to be illegal? It's almost guaranteed for it to drop the price and adoption. Regardless how likely or unlikely it is, it seems like people aren't taking this into consideration when investing in bitcoin.

If a government is able to ban Bitcoin then you know it's weak common sense, rule of law, and the citizens are probably in deep sleep and ignorant.
If small section of a society decide to use stones for buying and selling, would you ban them too? Of course not. If a country succeed in banning people from buying and selling with stones or from "bartering" then you know it's capable of banning anything. It could even ban it's citizens from going to farm or working and nothing will happen. Such citizens are most likely under evil bondage.
Tyranny will come but not now! You should be making Bitcoin very secure and more decentralized to withstand most abuses and lawlessness.

I still believe the government will never make Bitcoin illegal. They will try to regulate it and make money by adding special taxes on its transactions. Bitcoin is the currency of the internet. Internet is considered as a way of life in this era. You cannot ban Bitcoin without banning the internet.

Furthermore it is not practically possible to control the internet. Thee are zillions of ways to hide yourself online you just need to know how to do that?

Actually we can force goverment to accept bitcoin if the bitcoin user always increasing day by day.

They will take an adventage to ask every bitcoin user to pay tax which I think they will benefited.

But currently, the user of bitcoin is still a little bit. There are a lof people who still doubt to use bitcoin and even they are afraid to using it.

The negative information against bitcoin still haunt them and they believe that bitcoin is not real which can dead at any time and make they lose money into it.

There is a difference between banning and criminalization. While they can't ban Bitcoin for sure, they can definitely illegalize it. Imagine if the government said that anyone who is found owning(or transacting) bitcoin will be punished with 10 years in prison. I can guarantee a huge percentage wouldn't want to hold bitcoin. And sure I know they wouldn't know if you held it on a non-custodial wallet and such, but let's not forget that majority of people in this space are mostly speculators and are barely passionate about Bitcoin.

Though I also doubt a bit that the government wouldn't make such moves, let's not forget the laws in the past concerning hoarding of gold.

In the early days of bitcoin, all moves by the government were generally against the proliferation of said cryptocurrency on all fronts. While it was successful since there aren't that much places where one can spend their bitcoins to, the community who believes in bitcoin's value, together with speculators, traders and institutional investors are seeing it on a different light: as an asset. For now, governments may be thinking that bitcoin is just up to no good, but once the profit potential is there, their regulations would divert towards the way where they can make money off of it e.g. licenses for exchanges, services; personal taxes etc.

This might actually start becoming a problem after the pandemic. The pandemic is pushing the governments to introduce serious restrictive measures, including major privacy violations, in order to combat the spread of the disease. The measures that have already been introduced would have been unthinkable months ago on democratic states. The problem is, once the pandemic is over, it might be really hard to fight back and demand the previous rules to be enforced. In fact, many countries which were already in the middle between democracies and dictatorships can feel motivated to switch the course... As Bitcoin, while not anonymous, still allows to transact online without showing identity, stricter regulations might be proposed to change that.

Gradually the government is recognizing how usable bitcoin is.

Usable as an investment to cater tax from the people who will earn from it.

And as a means of payment that doesn't need any third party which they will take the benefit of it from the receiver too because of the same thing, taxes.

It's a very generic way to discuss this, but ok, I'll be short too
If governments make BTC transaction, withdraws and deposits illegal, BTC will almost end, only some people will pay and receive BTC for most illegal practices
Would you risk to be arrested having BTC?
Most of the people won't

We have to be realistic, it's a utopia think that people will keep using BTC risking to be arrested
Ya right ...if thinking practically every one will scare using btc if government make it illegal....why would one use it risking his career and life with it....we need the support of the government as well

Think of the way governments tries to Establish different regulations and laws on Bitcoin this leads to see the feuture of Bitcoin will be good more than the way we think. Government should not underestimates people's Power and Bitcoin strengthen by It's users

Probably they tend to go the other way round. Many of these government had one time or the order to kick against the existence of Bitcoin though  kudos to the entire community behind the said technology. Well, they have tried their very best in bringing in regulations into the cryptocurrency industry and some of these regulations are still with the community. To me, nothing has changed in regard to these regulations as the technology grow stronger with it community.

The measures that have already been introduced would have been unthinkable months ago on democratic states.

Haven't thought about this deeply yet, but on the top of my head, I don't think so. If they were to illegalize bitcoin due to privacy reasons concerning the pandemic, it would make a lot more sense if they start with banning physical cash first. First, it's more private(and anonymous), and it's physical hence the virus can spread through it. Going to straight to banning bitcoin because of these reasons makes zero sense. Unless they just use the pandemic as a sort of excuse to ban bitcoin.

Btc maybe Everyone's favourite investment to make money, I doubt will get the kind acceptance from the government like many people are expecting, at least not yet, because if we take a good look at btc, it is too volatile and easily manipulated by a few that makes it not suitable for anything regarding transactions, in a way, there need to be some form of regulation for the right people to come.
