Please read http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2014-03-20/ukraine-goes-cyprus-20-tax-deposits-over-100000-hryvnia-appease-imf for the perspective.

My country is also being "helped" by the IMF, and sooner or later it may happen here.

Now, I need a coin to store value and also use to buy products if the need arises, without too many loops. This means I don't want devaluation, otherwise it's just changing the kind of risk. Which coin(s) should I pick, and how is your coin better than Bitcoin?

You will not find anything stable or usable outside of Bitcoin and Litecoin.

For your use, invest in one of those.

honestly, if it's just to save your asset and not get screwed, go with bitcoin.

there's tons of great altcoins and it's awesome but you don't want to play and invest in the market, you need a "safe heaven", stick to bitcoin.

50% Bitcoin 25% Litecoin 25% Feathercoin

Bitcoin cause its the mature one, noone will surpass it in the next few years.

Litecoin cause yeah its the first scrypt coin and #much hype.

Feathercoin cause it got an activ dev team and will be soon asic proof and multi pool resistant.

Sorry, note that I am serious but I have to make a correction. It doesn't mean I will necessarily go on with taking refugee in cryptos, but I will do it on "something" out of the system. Nobody forces someone to hold money in a bank like a sitting duck, waiting for a plunder.

I'm betting on bitcoin and litecoin for the long run.

I also have a small position on dogecoin and ripple, and other alts only for short term.

And no worries for the future, Cavaco already said the crisis is over.  Grin

with a few exceptions, it's easier to redeem bitcoins for fiat than any other coin right now.

if you're looking for fundamentals to pin your investment upon, the security of the blockchain from attack is key.  right now, only bitcoin can be considered reasonably secure.

all other coins could be forked.  litecoin is the only other currency that comes close to being secure, and that's not even guaranteed.

past these two, it gets far riskier.  I recommend you look at the hashrate of a crypto:  its distribution and the size of the network is the first thing to look at.  I think everything beyond the first principle of blockchain security is decorative in comparison.

If you are going crypto, you must at least have around 50% of BTC/LTC.

Then risk the rest in other alts. I suggest VTC as the LTC2 Smiley

be careful buying bitcoin right now.  It has been on the decline lately and although it looks like it may turn around soon there could always be another attack article someone might write somewhere or another country that outlaws it.  Then again, Russia may be considering using it soon now that their visas are blocked.

A very tough call on bitcoin right now be careful throwing 50% into it right now.

Bitcoin is the least volatile cryptocoin and therefore a must in any cryptocurrency portfolio (40%+). Litecoin is the only other banker (30%+). The rest are risks and personal preference. I have opted for Vertcoin due to it's ASIC resistance and zero premine.

I wouldn't put all your eggs in one basket. Buy Gold/Silver, foreign assets etc.....
