Hi everyone, I just signed up because I have a serious problem with Electrum version 3.3.8.
On March 14th I sent bitcoins on an exchange. I understand that Electrum moves the rest of that operation to a new address. I don't know why he does it. The problem is that the bitcoins that I sent out arrived regularly after a few hours. The rest, however, has not yet arrived at the new address! It is in a sort of weekly "limbo" and I can't unlock it. It is 0.55 bitcoin and I would be really furious if I lose them!
If I go on the details of the reception address, the symbol of a blue server appears to me. If I go over it with the mouse it says "0 confirmation". Zero confirmations after more than 1 month ?? The word "Local [rbf, 339.6 sat / b]" appears next to that symbol.
Now, I don't know much about it but if using bitcoins is so complicated and dangerous, don't be surprised that they don't live mainstream! I can't take a degree in computer science to use them, do you think?
The question is simple: how do I unlock that trade and get hold of the rest of my bitcoins? Thanks to those who want to answer me.

You wanted to send x amount to the exchange.
Once you broadcasted the tx then x amount gone to the exchange but the rest (say y) amount did not appear in the change address of your electrum wallet?

If you do not mind then can you share the Tx ID?

Edit:
Right click on the row and find detials

Copy the tx Id and share it in here if it's ok with you.

Can you check the bottom left corner too? Does it say not connected or synchronising? There may be a connectivity issue that causes this too (although it may come up as unverified if so (instead of unconfirmed)?

If I go on the details of the reception address, the symbol of a blue server appears to me. If I go over it with the mouse it says "0 confirmation". Zero confirmations after more than 1 month ?? The word "Local [rbf, 339.6 sat / b]" appears next to that symbol.

'Local' indicates that the transaction hasn't been broadcast to the network. The blue dot in the bottom-right corner indicates that you are using a proxy. Click on that dot, select 'Proxy' tab and disable proxy. Also, try connecting manually to any server in the 'Server' tab (right-click on any server and select 'Use as server').

339 sat/byte is an extremely high transaction fee. I would recommend you to remove it (right-click and select 'Remove'). You should be able to do it since it still hasn't been broadcast. 3 sat/byte should be enough for now.

You can follow BitCryptex's suggestion to remove it from your history.
If you do that, the funds from that transaction will return to your available balance because it wasn't "processed" in the first place.

To properly send a transaction, you need to directly click "send" after filling out the address, fee, amount, etc. (next version will be different)
If you have to use "preview", make sure that you will click "broadcast" after viewing the transaction's info.

Hey, thank you very much! The operation appears to have been canceled and my remainder bitcoins have remained in the original address. Of course if one does not know how to use Electrum one can be frightened. I tell you what a simple, inexperienced user expects. I have 1 bitcoin in the X address, I send 0.5 bitcoin in the Y address and I have 0.5 bitcoin left in the X address. You don't need anything else, believe me! Sorry for the bad English but I'm Italian ...

What about the other instructions? Has the colour of the dot in the bottom-right corner changed? What did you try?

Electrum is a fairly good wallet with many advanced features. You seem to suffer only from a connectivity issue. Keep in mind that there is no central server. Multiple people are hosting Electrum servers.

The transaction ID that moved the rest of me from the source address to the new address is this: 4dd6d164a28a8e0dbef7c0be06b45d537899a0e9d4b87faea31a418cc5488b92
But now I don't need more. I solved it, thanks to BitCryptex.

That Tx ID you provided does not exist.

I have another doubt regarding this particular case; how is it possible, that the same transaction only confirmed (and sent) 1 of the outputs and didn't broadcast the second output?

Because it was never broadcasted.

That's not what happened. The change came back to him as it should (in the same transaction). The problem was that he somehow ended up making a Local transaction, which wasn't broadcasted (so he still had the coins) but it was saved, so the wallet showed as if it was spent already and he had no coins left.

It does make sense. Try to prepare a transaction in Electrum (click on 'Preview' instead of 'Send'). You don't even need to sign it to see the transaction ID. I am quite sure that the OP didn't solve his connectivity problem and the transaction hasn't been broadcast due to that.

~snip~
Where did he get that tx id from?

The TXID was generated from the Electrum wallet the above post is right. If you send a Bitcoin while your Electrum has a connection issue the transaction will remain there until the wallet connected to the server and been broadcasted to the network.

While the wallet is offline or has a connection issue the transaction still zero-confirmation just right click and check the details and it will show you the TXID.

You can test it by your self by sending while your PC is offline it will generate a transaction with TXID.

Bitcoin is decentralized and has no central point of control, so how do you think "transaction ids" are generated? It's all up to you and your wallet. The transaction id is simply the "sha256d hash of the transaction" [1].
