[Abandoned] I created the Bitcointalk Stats Live Counter

I sat down and wrote this:
btctalk.live

It's the forum's stats live count. Nothing to offer you, but I found it cool, just to check the activity of bitcointalk.
I'm open to suggestions.

07/29/2020: Added the today and alldates folders. I also added the INSTRUCTIONS.txt where I explain how can you copy btctalk.live.
11/15/2020: Updated the OP. Today and Alldates are back again after a break (some issues). Stats from 09/09/2020-11/14/2020 are not available.

Why I usually encountered 0 count while I visit it, and it's also not safe (http) not (https)

Yeah I'm trying to fix the "0" bug. I haven't add SSL. My web hosting doesn't providing me one. Long story...

Yeah true. The numbers are just going up and down like boosters on every counter.
But the fact is, the guy has really tried hard to make something. We shall motivate him to fix it and go ahead with the project.

@OP Its fairly good initiative. Over the time you can just inject more ideas to have some use out of it. May be people will start commenting soon with their thoughts.

Guys I think I've fixed the "0" issue. Just refresh the page. It must work.

PM'ed you. You could also just post them publicly (e.g GitHub) for everyone to see (AFAIK you have a limit of how many PM's you can send, right?).

It couldn't be real time except if I was the owner of bitcointalk.org (what if I am  )

The refresh you are refering to is 5 seconds.

Now I don't know what does it mean by saying "You are online" so I can't really tell you guys if there are really 594 (for example) members online. When you leave the forum, you may stay online for couple minutes and then it will flag you as "offline".

What else would be nice to be live counted? Total page views?

Nice work. These stats aren't essential, but it's always useful.

Maybe you (or someone else) could get some nice graphs from this page to see if the rhythm of posts/topics/new members is increasing or not.

And I don't know if it's possible to have the same kind of info on the modlog to know the volume of deleted posts/topics and banned users..

I would defiantly come to this page again and again to see what part of time the most users are online on the forum and at what time least number of users are online. Perhaps OP can also provide that data based upon the 24 hours data collected for "Members online" .

It looks like you're using data from https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=stats, but is this page still updated? The number of topics for instance is 4 million lower than the current highest topic number. Many topics have indeed been deleted, but the post count is barely lower than the current highest post number while many posts have been deleted too. Could it be deleted topics are really gone, while deleted posts are still counted as they're still stored in a hidden section?

I thought the same, but it looks like only the "forum History" tab isn't updated anymore. But I keep refreshing the page and the number of total posts, topics and users online keep changing, so I guess those are still updated?

Yes I'm taking numbers from https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=stats and yes they keep update there too.
I think the only thing that doesn't get updated from the stats page is page views.

Yes, that number does not determine the number of posts/topics. It determines... let's say the times "Post" button has been pressed

Always nice to have a nice clean interface as I believe these statistics are hidden here on the forums. I'm not sure of the overall accuracy of those statistcs,  but like TryNinja said they seem to be somewhat up to date on the statistics included on the site.

Its nice to see a new user with a passion for the forums. Trust me, it will get worse, and you will have withdrawal symptoms from any extended breaks that you take.
