I think the best place is in this community, however, you being a newbie obviously trusted people here are not going to go first, so you should deal with people here with trust and see their history. You can use escrow if big amounts are involved, or simply send the trusted member first and then they will send it right after they see the transaction. That's the way I understand on how those currency exchanges are being transaction here.
Unfortunately for him, people won't be interested to trade with a new user and I doubt someone will be ready to be the escrow between both.
What about if someone acts as the middleman, he receives the funds on his Paypal account, then the deal ends correctly...
3 months later he receives a dispute/chargeback? What the escrow will be able to do? Contact the sender who will never reply or contact the receiver who will say he isn't responsible?
You can open a dispute up to 180 days later.
P2P marketplaces as OmegaStarScream mentioned can be a solution but with a cost, to pay more than the market value (it can easily be 20% above) and some persons ask your ID and selfie
