AFAIK that's intentional. If reCAPTCHA has deemed you (with extremely high likelihood) to be a bot, it'll pretend that you still have a chance while auto-failing any of your attempts. The website you were the trying to solve the captcha in might've also selected the more strict security setting when setting up their reCAPTCHA integration.
I also have encountered cases where if you go through several attempts at completing the captcha (which you know you've done perfectly, yet they "failed"), it'll let you through.
While you're here, do you happen to know if both of these are the same case for hCaptcha? Now that Cloudflare moved their verification system to it, it will be useful for me to know next time I get served with an hCaptcha challenge.

OP, Have you encountered like this? LOL.. too many times. I do wonder how those with poor eyesight manage.. it's the being reasonably on a vpn and being treated as blacklisted.. perpetual frustration and to be expected just proving some dull AI that will then come to haunt us later.. feeding the enemy

Don't sweat it mate, in that case you can just click those 4 tiles an ignore the excess. If ever there's another one given to you then just answer it more accurately and you're in . If it reaaly annoys you, don't forget to click the "Always logged in" button to avoid this interruptions once and for all. Also, avoid clearing the data of your browser.

The more reCAPTCHAs you fill out (even if you do so successfully), the more suspicious you are to Google, the harder the captcha gets (up until you get secretly marked as a bot). Also, chances are that wasn't v3.
There's a way for the v2 to be implemented that it isn't even shown if no action is required from the user's end (the equivalent of clicking on it and the check mark immediately popping up). v3 silently collects behavioral data in the background, gives the website a score of how likely it is that you're a bot and then the website decides what it wants to do (deny an action, require manual review of said action, serve you up with a reCAPTCHA v2, etc.). I assume v2 also collects behavioral data though probably much less (since Google recommends you put the v3 on every page so that it could "get a feel" for how a regular visitor on your site behaves).
That kinda sucks, since the sites I frequent on have to implement this. Definitely V2 like you said; the V3 I mentioned earlier was aimed at ChuckBuck's statement on not going through the verification process. You're correct. V3 is more intrusive than V2 in behavioral analysis, that's why Cloudflare eventually transitioned to hCAPTCHA.

It's been a year and hCaptcha now used by Cloudflare (coincidentally, this forum also use Cloudflare), so it's possible theymos consider it as alternative (at least if reCAPTCHA become more annoying or no longer free) now.
I've had a lot of trouble with reCAPTCHA in the past, but this was due to the faucets (too much solved captchas), so they block me as bot. I write few e-mails to their support and after that in most cases, I don't even need to solve captcha. I also noticed that it can help if a user is logged in with a Google service (Gmail), although some reported the exact opposite. It's quite a different matter if someone uses a VPN or TOR because every captcha service detects it as malicious behavior.

Relate to this sometimes this happened but you don't know if you're going to include the excess part in the picture. But sometimes 4 blocks is enough already work for the captcha, I guess the traffic signal photo is the one who always has this thing.

I just wanted to say THANK YOU! Damn it, I've been having issues with the shitty Google Captcha for months and had no idea this existed! Google's captcha thingy gets annoying at one point, especially if you're using browsers set up to delete any history, cache etc upon exit. I honestly thought there was no way around it. Is this link under the login form? I've never seen it before..

Maybe theymos should consider hCaptcha since CloudFlare already move from reCAPTCHA to hCaptcha.
I suggested the same captcha back in 2019, but I didn't get any response from admin, which means that (at least then) he didn't consider it an acceptable solution. It's been a year and hCaptcha now used by Cloudflare (coincidentally, this forum also use Cloudflare), so it's possible theymos consider it as alternative (at least if reCAPTCHA become more annoying or no longer free) now. I personally think hCaptcha is even worse to solve. At least reCAPTCHA gives you easily identifiable images, while hCaptcha has given me very vague photos and has taken me quite a bit longer to solve. The one thing I like about hCaptcha is that it supports Privacy Pass by default, so solving one captcha allows you to skip the next 5.

I don't know that if we don't visit that page https://bitcointalk.org/captcha_code.php, my captcha bypass code is still automatically be there or it is only activated and displayed after I visiting that page. If it is always there no matter we visit that page or not, I think using that code to bypass captcha is good. Only have to secure it well and if something wrong with computer, such as virus detected we should reset the code.

The one thing I like about hCaptcha is that it supports Privacy Pass by default, so solving one captcha allows you to skip the next 5. Can't agree more. They tend to stuff up to 8 target images you have to click on, then throw in another test just for extra measure. It's so much easier with reCAPTCHA.

and while this is still a pima.. I shall note that out of this forum, Google reCaptcha is behaving like a retard. Even though it's validated me multiple times, it keeps checking each time I visit Google search.. might be using a vpn but still, why keep checking.. not extraordinarily bot like searches either. Stupid Google is stupid.. but try telling it that! I wonder this is a problem that will become more common with computers and their masters, thinking they are clever. The fate of all companies is to become dull?.. perhaps that's why most companies don't last into another generation of staff and stagnate. Really should switch to Duck Duck or another.

Google sucks and Google reCaptcha also sucks. Recently cloudflare switched to hCaptcha that is blockchain based, and I found it works better. Also Google is spying everyone, so no need to help them so much everyday... Their AI will also survive without our free help

Bitcointalk should use geetest captcha like binance, it's much less annoying.
All kinds of captcha are annoying especially the one where you have to write an essay. Google recaptcha still allows you to bypass it some time by identifying the IP address. If you use VPN then these captcha can make your life miserable.

Use your secret link.
Tor makes you do 20 puzzles then says sorry we can't decide if you are real or not, even if you get then all correct. Or too many attempts from your IP today.
Lately it also has only been giving the skip button when it's not even a skip solution for the correct answer. It was okay when you were getting 50 x 30 bucks for solving each one on rai blocks now it's just a pita.
