You are right. But we can not measure the success of any project in a short duration. The project needs to run longer after complete development and show its potential to current as well as new investors. To measure the success patience required for today's investors. As you mentioned, the establishment of any project can be concrete by setting up the right goals and increasing the confidence of their investors.

if we mention a successful project (ICO or IEO) there will be 3 different answers because in general "success is achieving the goal";

• Developers will definitely see their success based on achieving their coin / token sales target (SOFTCAP or HARDCAP)
• marketing or campaign managers see their success based on how much the market accepts the project they are marketing

Do you know why that is their priority?
It is because they want to quickly make their bulk and take their leave to probably the next project if there is any.
Had it been they understand fully well they would have known that if a project is able to give value to its token, they will be able to sell at a higher price. Since they are now in haste to sell, their own measure of success will be for the project to list and for them to be able to sell.
Then they become disappointed when there is no volume.

Yeah i'm agree with you, success mean that team already reach the goal of the project from the plans. No matter about token price in exchange. Big exchange listed doesn't mean that is success from project development.
Many project that just focus on listing exchange, after that they ignored project development then disappear with money collected from ICO

The problem is when you are in the speculation market and the majority of people in this market will see price is much more important than the usefulness of product. I can mention some of projects that's still undervalued when they have already created a very good product.

The team can say that if they can list their coin at more than 3 exchanges, and have good support, that means, they succeed to have a good coin that can accommodate trader or people by using their coin to make money. But that is not all about money to determine what does success mean because I am sure that every project will have their own specification of the success itself.
