Transactions must be included in a block to be properly completed. When you send a transaction, it is broadcast to miners. Miners can then optionally include it in their next blocks. Miners will be more inclined to include your transaction if it has a higher transaction fee.

You can try mazacoin or myriadcoin. As you say, they are not worth a lot but you get more of them.

Agreed, mining is not profitable anymore. Currently the best way to earn BTC through mining is by mining other coins and exchanging them for BTC. I would suggest you to rack up on some posts and activities and join a signature deal, they're currently the best way for newbies to earn a couple of BTC themselves

welcome to bitcointalk.

When btcguild had PPS(?) the balance just grew all day, but when they deleted that protocol(?) it takes forever to get anything, wich is boring.

You should get even more on average with PPLNS due to lower fee.
You get less and less from mining because of the increasing difficulty.  Smiley

Well, for what its worth I do own Sweden's biggest counter-strike: source community, we do have a sami large website with about 19,000 pageviews per day, worth anything in advertising here?
Probably not, but you can put some ads on the loading page of the server you own and get a couple of bucks from that
