Josh Spurling decided to gamble out of sheer boredom since he was locked at home due to the current lockdown situation, and he gambled on two different occasions and on both he won big amounts totalling to £400,000.

It’s also pertinent to note that he’s decided not to gamble anymore as he believes to quit while he’s ahead, but something tells me he’s going to gamble again.

Now I know many will ask me why I feel this, so the answer is simple he’s already spending his fortune away quickly, and he’ll have more confidence in his luck so it’s only a matter of days before he gambles again.

Lastly there’re two important lessons we all can learn from him, 1) quit while you’re ahead and 2) don’t splurge your winning fortune quickly spend it slowly and wisely.

Quote

A SALESMAN won more than £400,000 in online casinos when he was bored during lockdown.

Josh Spurling struck lucky in two games just a few days apart.

Quote

The window and door salesman has already spent £50,000 on a house deposit, as well as presents for himself and his family including his daughters aged eight and three. A holiday is also on the cards.

But Josh is now giving up online gambling. He said: “I feel I’ve had my luck and I’ve done really well. If I carried on I’d jinx it.”

If I win that amount for sure I will do the same since provably if he choose to gamble more a chances for him to lose back what he earn and good decision to quit so that he can enjoy his winnings.

For sure from this post many will attempt to gamble out of boredom and hope to win the same amount as him.

Josh Spurling decided to gamble out of sheer boredom .....
^ Josh's story is not new. I've heard a lot of stories who experience the beginner's luck. Most of these people decided not to continue and play gambling anymore but these people went back and play gambling since they won the first time. Some of them lose and but few of them win. Unfortunately, those people who lose in gambling almost lose everything. Nevertheless, Josh here is not a regular gambler because he gambles just because of boredom that he wanted to find something entertainment game.

Yes, this is indeed an important lesson, If I win that big, I would probably do the same thing.
But we all know that it is a hard thing to do since if we win huge amount of money, we tend to play more due to our expectation of winning more.

but something tells me he’s going to gamble again.

I also have the same feeling. He got that money so easily and if ever that he is thinking of winning that easily, he will probably play again and we can't remove to him the expectation to win more.

That's what I thought so He just got in the casino because of this pandemic, if it weren't for the Corona he wouldn't be betting. He is now a well-known person though. I guess he's giving away half of his money to her so she can also be independent or so. If he comes back to gambling, it will probably end after lockdown.

This is how we should really think. Winning a big amount of money is like a once in a lifetime opportunity, so when you experience winning such amount, don't lose the opportunity given to you. Because it does not guarantee that we can win again. Good for him that he decided not to gamble more. He can just use the money to buy and do the things he wants with that money. It's too risky to gamble it again. If a person knows how to limit and control himself with gambling, for sure he will also do the same.

But of course, he's still a human with greed inside. He might still gamble again because he loved the feeling of winning big time. I just hope that he won't let that greed to control him. He can still gamble a little bit, but I hope he will use his money wisely and prioritize his family.

That is the best boredom story I have ever heard. This is what we can really call a lucky guy in this lockdown situation that we experience. Who would have thought that because of his boredom he will win that big?  Shocked Shocked

This is just an advertisement strategy created by the gambling sites itself? Roll Eyes

Online gambling owners wants to trap the casino gamblers into online gamblers and also wants the people to gamble who never wanted too by saying the huge won amount and adding I am going to quit will make it as more realistic but this is just a pure trick since gambling owners know 99% of people will never get such amount of winnings so they will keep on gambling. What he did is smart to quit after winning big.
He does not have to stop, but just bet with some small amounts, and never touch his big win.
Maybe investing in Bitcoin and other assets would be the best thing.

Probably not, if it was more focused on advertisement the name of the casino should've been named from the start but nothing was mentioned except for the screenshot of the slot games.

With a win that big it'll surely encourage most gamblers to quit and since he's started spending his winnings I doubt he'll go back to the casino unless he gets bored again. I used to have the same plan back then when I won several times from sports but went back to betting after a few days because that was some time during the playoffs.

Gambling winning are normally not a hard earned money, so we can understand how people spend it. For me, it's okay to spend our winnings on the things that would make us happy, actually spending all of them is good than using it again to gamble more aiming to win more.

If I convert £400,000 into my local currency and deposit in a bank for monthly interest, I would earn more money than my salary at this moment. I would be able to pay off my mortgage loan as well as my car loan faster than ever. So it completely makes sense to quit gambling with the same money that he has earned out of sheer boredom. That's not self-control, it's called good practical sense!

Gambling is easy money, someone who has experienced the victory of gambling in large numbers will definitely come back when all the money from his winnings runs out, just wait for the time.  Cheesy

I'm wondering about that too. In order to win £110,000 on a regular roulette game, you must stake more than 3 thousand quid at once, right? Or was it another kind of roulette game, which was a slot game in fact, like this one, for example:

and he won £110,000 by hitting the jackpot there?

TBH, I don't trust putting money in the bank for the sake of my deposit to earn interest, because first, money is subject for inflation and the interest is very low. I'm just curious on how much your bank offers for big deposits? is it time or regular savings?

What I would do is I'll pay all my debt first then I would use the money to start for a business.
getting lucky in gambling does not happen all the time, it only happen once or few times, but I would not gamble looking for another opportunity.

Question: But are they really able to quit while they are ahead? I hardly see any gambler who are able to do it but most of us never do actually. Second one is a good one which I would say should be of priority then the first.

he will definitely come back to gambling...
Gambling is easy money, someone who has experienced the victory of gambling in large numbers will definitely come back when all the money from his winnings runs out, just wait for the time.  Cheesy
That's definitely what would gonna happen,

A person who had or recently had an experience of winning a lot of money won't be able to fight the urge to play again, I am sure he is thinking way too hard on how he will be able to win again or when he is planning to play again.

I doubt if he will totally stop gambling. Once you have the taste of winning, it would be difficult to leave. What more if you had won a lot of money or hit a jackpot. This might push him, even more, to try his luck again. Gambling can make people greedy.

A SALESMAN won more than £400,000 in online casinos when he was bored during lockdown.

Josh Spurling struck lucky in two games just a few days apart.

In my own opinion, it is a good idea to quit after winning a huge amount of money because it is really rare for gamblers to stop betting, while winning a huge amount of money that they assume they could increase their winnings even more. It is really good that gamblers knows how to be contented on what he already have and not wishing for more.
