Josh Spurling decided to gamble out of sheer boredom since he was locked at home due to the current lockdown situation, and he gambled on two different occasions and on both he won big amounts totalling to £400,000.

It’s also pertinent to note that he’s decided not to gamble anymore as he believes to quit while he’s ahead, but something tells me he’s going to gamble again.

Now I know many will ask me why I feel this, so the answer is simple he’s already spending his fortune away quickly, and he’ll have more confidence in his luck so it’s only a matter of days before he gambles again.

Lastly there’re two important lessons we all can learn from him, 1) quit while you’re ahead and 2) don’t splurge your winning fortune quickly spend it slowly and wisely.

The window and door salesman has already spent £50,000 on a house deposit, as well as presents for himself and his family including his daughters aged eight and three. A holiday is also on the cards.

I will do the same thing if will also win that huge amount of money, gambling relies on luck so winning on it is such a great feeling. I think winning so much money is enough because you will lost your prize if you still going to bet because luck is not always on our side, know how to be contented, do not take the risk of spending your prize on betting and betting.

Winning the game should stop you from gambling, it is really different from those people that won't stop betting while losing the game, some people triggers so much when they keep losing their money so they cannot stop gambling because of thinking that they can turn back the money that have lost.

If I were him, I wouldn't even tell people that I won that much. Well, it really depends on how much he bet with to win that much in a luck-based betting.
It's OK if he bet only little or amount he can afford to lose. Not a good idea to gamble or take big risk in my opinion.

Just give him few days or probably weeks and he'll definitely return back to gambling most especially when he realized he didn't invest wisely via his spending. The issue with quick/free money is that it comes with the mindset that since you had luck previously, you can easily win such amount or even more if you try again. Some even go to the extend of repeating the routine of the day they won the bet.

Those giving him investment advice should also understand in times like this, as a result of not been prepared he might panic and rush into securing an investment asset but end up picking the wrong asset which will cost him his investment capital. I would do the same, for real, if I won this amount I would probably stop and enjoy the money for the rest of my life, this amount of money is enought to have a stable life if you invest correctly

This is guy is awesome, he has good self-control, not a normal thing that most gamble has and will do just in case they will win something this big. We actually don't know if he will gamble again or he will stick to what he had planned to never gamble again. That is a great decision that he made after he wins so much money because if he continues playing gambling, he will lose that money without getting any winning. The slot machine is my favorite game, and it's really a time-waster, especially if you are bored like in this "quarantine" period. But to win a jackpot is soo difficult. This guy, though a man from heaven.

The jinx be true ngl. Though that may just apply to all of us, jinxed or not. Props to the guy though. Not a lot of guys are actually able to resist the temptation of stopping gambling after winning such a huge amount. The best chances of that happening are if someone actually has played for a long time, lost a lot ( more than what they won ) and finally achieving a big break, decided to not push himself. Most of those who gamble and win big earlier are most likely to be tempted to continue instead of stopping after all. I think i can understand why he says that he is quitting because for me as you already mentioned that he only gambles then because of boredom meaning he is not really a gambler and just trying to find fun in betting.
So having this decision is reasonable and yeah he might not gamble again and will use the money for more functional ways than gamble.

He has obviously done the right thing here because many of these lucky winners can't handle their luck and lose their winning quickly.
Many of them spend it lavishly while the others gamble again to lose it all. There are only a few people like the one mentioned in OP who quits while he is ahead and spends it rather slowly on important things. If I would have won then I would first take back my capital investment and then see how much I have left with and then invest in on more important things while keeping some for further gambling.
