And that is a one in a million hacker, I'm glad the fund is fully refund and I hope the hacker is well compensated, at least Dforce should know that DeFi is not as great as they think, hope they work better to security a guarantee

That's a huge news for dForce. Was devastating to hear of the huge hack last week. Luckily they now have so funds back and they can better improve their security. I am worried on why more defi projects have now been a huge interest to hackers. I participated in Bzx protocol which was hacked months ago. Though things seems to have stabilized but I don't see them coming through real quick

lol it's not caused by the hacker but the singapore police who has been holding the IP of the hacker who helps this DeFi platform to get back their money. I just suggest the users of that dex to withdraw their money caused by it has proven if that Defi is a big crap. Move to the secure exchange site will much better.

What I think of this incident is that the hacker doesn't want himself to be known publicly so they had an agreement that ended up for him to return the funds.
Well, the important part is that the funds were retrieve regardless of whatever negotiation and agreement they had.

Wow thats nice, I am just curious how did the hackers return the money or tokens worth of 25million? Did FBI just track its location and those thieves got scared that they were arrested? If thats the case then its good. There should be a way to track down all these people and bypass their way to hide their identity. Its not good that every hacks like these happened cause once they dump it on the market surely it will be affected due to massive price drop from selling it.

It's like the hacker was exposed that's why he had no choice but to return the money, it's on the internet that the guy used a bad vpn and it revealed his ip address, any way good luck to deFi

i don't know what is the reason here because hackers never come to return back what they have already taken from others.
But what is thankful here is that reality that the funds had come back from where it
it must be.
lets hope that this is a reality and not show for whatever reason.
It's like the hacker was exposed that's why he had no choice but to return the money, it's on the internet that the guy used a bad vpn and it revealed his ip address, any way good luck to deFi
even if he returns the fund if he was already expose then he will be facing cases regarding this damn action he did.

lol is this true that the singapore police has successfully catch the hacker by the IP address ?
If the hacker used anonymous proxy before attacking, the story would be different i guess. Anyway, it is a good thing because i never heard exchange that has been hacked, get their coins back.

I think the hacker had tried to hide his IP before carrying out the attack, but the police were smarter so the police could still track him down.
Btw, is the problem resolved after the money is returned? or he will still be punished

I guess that's what happens when you steal something and you haven't covered your tracks. When your sensitive information is transferred to the police, in this case, the Singapore police, it's going to be a game-changer for that hacker. The story is still developing though.

Why would you return the funds if you got caught it's not like the police will forgive your crimes because you return the stolen funds. The hacker could've use the stolen funds to pay the bail and get out of jail.

I am suspecting it might be an insider work. Most hacks that have been done, I believe would have the consent of someone who knows about the project or sometimes who is even part of the team. He pr she might not get it done by himself or herself, but might employ the service of an outsider, by providing some sensitive information.
If it is well investigated, I believe that there will be some connections.
At least, I am glad that te fund is back and I wish other hacks are traced and funds retrieved.

I'm thinking of that too. The way the hacker returns the stolen money so easy that looks like he knew he can settle with dForce in the count, to lessen his punishment. He going to get a punishment in jail for this crime, right? Anyone here comes from Singapore to provide us more information and rumor about this case?

I hope this is a warning to anyone dealing with "Decentralized" applications. Believe it or not, but Dforce wasn't decentralized to begin with, nor is MANY other Exchanges, including Binance, and a few others.
You have to understand that "Decentralized" is a trending word to use these days, as everyone wants it.

Blocknet started the first DEX in early 2018. Many have tried to copy their work, or outright stealing their source code to make their own. Don't get me wrong, the more DEX's we have to choose from, the better - BUT it makes me sick that so many devs spits out "decentralized" like it's a buzz word with no meaning.

You can't hack a decentralized application, hence why it's "decentralized".

Anyone wanting to trade on a REAL DEX, should read up on Blocknet, and what they do: https://blockdx.com/

maybe they are struggling to withdraw it since their address already got traced resulting in many exchanges will immediately suspend them? Beside that it's still a good thing that the funds get sent back to the rightful address whether they will get punished or not who knows atleast the rightful owner of those money didn't lose it .

As stated in the article, ParaSwap has the information or knows the attacker but evades because of the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) laws. No matter what, there is the need for information to participate in the project, but not assisting dForce is quite suspicious as well.

Strange that such a hacker could leave footprints like IP. It is more than unbelievable these days to be honest. Anyway, although we used to hate centralize exchange for many reasons, this is one of the reason that we should need. To trace some money, centralize exchanges are playing good role indeed.

Indeed very strange, they could hide their ip before attacking, just like the past exchange hacking cases, or maybe the past hack incidents were insider job ?
If we using centralized exchange, they will take responsible for our coin when get compromised, but if we using decentralized exchange, who will take the responsible ? Our own self.  Roll Eyes
Yeah, It is very strange. In fact, it is the first time I heard a hacker return the funds, I guess there is so many scenarios behind it and we don't know. Maybe someone hired a hacker just to test their platform on how good is the website security, all we can do is speculate. Well, everything that comes to the computer and programming and stuff can be penetrated by humans because it was made by a human so its possible that the hacker made a mistake and lead it right back at him. It is a good thing that all funds are returned.

This topic is quite interesting. While the hacker is returning the money he stole, he allegedly returned it because he was afraid of his identity being exposed. The fact that someone who is too inadequate to provide this is able to steal such a big amount makes me think.
