Is it OK to leave trust on someone's account as a "note to myself" even if I have never had any interaction with that user?

Or would this be classed as trust system abuse.

Thanks in advance.

Feedback means not that you trust the User

If you just want to give a Feedback because of something that you mean its worth a Feedback and it hasnt to do anything with a trade or a Service you used from the Account, just give a neutral Feedback!
If you got scammed or there is a bad behave from the User in your opinion you can give a negative one.

Depends what was happend with you and the User.
Normaly i would say a neutral Feedback is the Best Option.

A note which can benefit your future trading experience in bitcointalk is certainly okay in my opinion. You can put neutral for that. For better understanding, you can check this thread- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5191802.msg53833821#msg53833821

Yeah, I'd say a neutral would be acceptable for what OP is proposing.  I've left many neutrals for members simply saying "This member is a shitposter" or something like that.  If I'd left that same feedback as a negative, it would be a misuse of the trust system, but neutrals are supposed to be for general thoughts about a member that need not impact their trust score.

The trust score neutral is the solution in this case. And this will be the proper usage of neutral trust function,

Quote
Or would this be classed as trust system abuse.
Yes, if you don't have any trade history or something that does not deserve a positive or neg trust and if you give them directly positive  & negative will be abused of trust system IMO,

Just to add to what others have said, the trust page already explained exactly how each category of trust feedback feedback should be used;
Quote
Positive - You think that this person is unlikely to scam anyone.
Neutral - Other comments.
Negative - You think that trading with this person is high-risk.

Other comments can simply be understood as feedback that doesn't involve trade, like the user's contributions to the forum etc.

Not sure what you mean behind personal notes, but the idea behind the Trust ratings is to make information available to others (specifically related to Commerce), so that others may use that information to get an idea of what that person is like in terms of trading. With that in mind, a personal note that (may have) no use for the general public is probably not the right use of the system here.

It's a slippery slope to neutral feedback like

"I think this user may be involved in drug trafficking"

People are going to use the trust system as they see fit, but the community has to be vigilant about negative feedback being left as neutral.  There are better ways to leave personal notes than graffiti.

Can you give an example of the "note" you want to leave?

Probably the best advice.

Is it OK to leave trust on someone's account as a "note to myself"

It's the same as taping a paper to a guy's back saying "note to myself: this guy is a total douche bag".
Might be your opinion but that probably should not reflect in his rating for all to see, neutral or not.
Would be cool to have a place to leave notes for other users, but in the absence of such feature I personally would not use trust rating to create journal entries.

Quoting myself below since it keeps coming up again and again in different ways in different threads.
I do not think trust / feedback is going to change until there are some other major changes on the board.

Either way don't stress out too much, there will always be people who think that their theory is the only way it should be done.
Do what works for you.

-Dave

<-Sigh->
I have posted something along these lines several times, but looking around I think I have to say it again.
The current trust / feedback system works to a point, but since there is no separation between trade trust and regular trust there is always going to be a bunch of unhappy people.

I can be an ass who pisses people off and trolls all day.
That does not mean I am going to rip you off if you are buying something from me or selling something to me or having me do a task for you.

There are several people on the marketplace that have some negative feedback / trust that has nothing to do with trading & sales.
You can promote the YoBit scam, think BitcoinSV is the real Bitcoin, and whatever else. Does not mean that if I sent you $500 via PayPal that you are not going to send me the BTC we agreed upon.

Or to put it as another (motorcycle) forum owner put it.

Quote
If you send Bob $200 to tune up your bike and he came to your house and tuned up your bike then he gets positive trade trust.
If while he was there he has sex with your wife IT DOES NOT MATTER. That has nothing to do with trade trust. That is a feedback issue.

Now, you might not want to deal with them because they are an asshat, but if you do you can at least be reasonably sure that you are going to get what you asked for delivered.

Since we do not have separate trade trust and regular trust (feedback), we tend to keep looping back to the issues on this thread.

-Dave

If this "note" is about this person personally annoying you or you think his/her posts are worthless/trash I think it will just be better if you just ignore the person by clicking the "ignore" button. This can be located at any of his post and the "ignore" button is just below their name. As for the notes about reminding you something I believe that this will do no harm in anyone as feedbacks are unmoderated here and I don't think the person would mind a neutral feedback if that is what you will give as a "not" to that person.

Im not sure what he exactly wants with that but may be OP just wants to remind himself about that person in a handy way? Is this came to anyone's mind up there?

Im pretty sure he had seen trust feedback page with explanatory text and not to get confused with anything.

Not just that, forum does allow advance option of Adding Flags if his criteria is not mentioned.

I think these are enough options for him.
