Yep. Those bloody ants could turn your whole world upside-down if you kept your laptop on your lap-bottom.
Exactly, and that is what makes me call them bloody lol
I lost a digital camera like this. To me its not a joke, and i can't even imagine why they chose it as a nice place to make a nest... In fact the queen decided to use the flash lamp as the queen chamber, so it was perfectly visible once you took the camera out of its fabric bag where i was left for months unattended.
Ants may be clean, but they are also somewhat conductive. So they start crossing things with different polarities causing little shorts here and there. Often their bodies keep piling until they can make enough current flow the wrong way and damage something.
So no, its not harmless, you should get rid of them.
I never used laptops on the lap, because i find that incredibly uncomfortable (besides fabric is bad for cooling).
I can understand your pain. It actually is irritating seeing these ants on our digital equipments.
And I usually work on laptop on my bed or couch which makes me keep my laptop on my laps always. I can't usually sit infront of my computer table for the whole day as it'll make me physically sick.
Yeah, my bad. I commonly called it heat but heat tends to have different meanings as well. Warmth would be a perfect word and I do believe that ants love warm places. Thanks for the reference mentioned. It gave me some general knowledge about what ants like.
recently i have same problem but it is from my keyboard that ants keep on popping out what i did is sprayed alcohol and let it dry y using blower but of course i unplugged it first and now it seems that they are all gone (hope so)
try to let technician open your lappy there might be more of them inside.
.
No it will not Harm your computer board if you will only use pure alcohol and actually this advice i also get from a friend in past that has the same problem thats why i can assure you that this is safer than anything .
better do it now or they will multiply inside your Lappy and damage your laptop before you cleaned them up.
There were many people here suggesting about the use of alcohol and I did follow the same and I am amazed by the results. (I'll mention more about it in the end of this reply.)
That's disgusting.
I haven't seen anything similar.
Probably your laptop was so dirty that ants found home in there.
Just throw your laptop in rubbish and buy a new one but try to keep it clean.
Well, at least you know what attracts ants to your laptop. Having cookie and bread crumps inside keyboard is common, but if they also contain sugar then it's even worse.
You shouldn't really get rid of your laptop but you definitely should disassemble it and do some inside cleaning. After that, I recommend some tips like checking rooms because they might have a nest somewhere else.
I really have to consider this orelse it won't take for those ants to create a another nest into my laptop again. As soon as the lockdown ends, I'll take my laptop to a technician to see what can be done to get rid of them permanently.
I think the ants want to search for a new place for them, so they feel that your laptop is the ideal place for them. Maybe you can place your laptop in the shady place with a warm place or a place with radiant sunlight because of the ants are afraid of the sunlight. But it's an interesting problem that you've got, and I never have such experience, and I don't want to get the same thing as you
I hope you can solve the problem.
Ants are actually a most active creature I'll say and they keep on changing their nests. Laptop has a lot of qualities which makes it a best place for the ants to select as their nest which includes the warmth created, etc.
And yeah I've finally solved this issue.
So guys, finally I've get rid of those "bloody" ants. I thank each and every one who helped find me a solution.
At last, the alcohol worked. I thoroughly cleaned my laptop with a 70% alcohol based sanitizer and now I can't see a single ant. This is a big relief for me. Atleast now I know I'm safe from these ants. I know this can be a common problem to most and I want to tell that alcohol really works on this issue.
Even my laptop looks a lot cleaner now and I'm sure it is even safe from germs/viruses now.
Here's a image of how my laptop looks now without ants. (For image with ants, consider image on OP)
