Before I can came here I had nill BTC, minimal cryptocurrency knowledge, funny as it may I thought cry up to currency was only about bitcoin never heard of altcoins. I was just an everyday low tech knowledge person.
But something that I regularly do when I enter a whole new atmosphere is to set myself a road map and a Goal.

What is a road map and whats the use
A road map is like a direction route you are predicting and hoping to follow as you begin a progress in something new.
A road map can
+ observe your progress movement, whether you falling behind or progressing
+ keep you en route
+ spring up radical learning: to make sure you catching up with your roadmap you would want to up your game.

Like I said i came with no bitcoin and poor knowledge of it, but there has been changes to that and the growth continues.
Newbies ask yourself where you want to be in 6months, 9 months or even 5years after becoming a member

Hardly anyone will answer where they see themselves in 5 years, and I think it's even harder for beginners. Considering some of the facts realistically, it is not difficult to conclude that only a small percentage of beginners can somehow advance in the forum. Some become members only to participate in bounty campaigns, others try to be true members but face the classic challenges of a language barrier or the impression that they cannot get enough merits to get a higher rank.

From the perspective of someone who has been on the forum for almost 5 years I can say that I really had a great desire to be a part of this community and to contribute in some way with my participation. I can't say I did exactly what I wanted, but I still came pretty far from a regular beginner to where I am now. Nothing in life is achieved overnight, and only those who have clear goals and great persistence can succeed.

I also came here 5 years ago afd didn't expect much, only wanted to learn something about btc.
During time, I get to know some people here, with some even became close friends and met offline for dinner etc.
From this viewpoint I received here much more than I expected.
Some other things here like many ugly discussions and fights in many forum topics I don't like much but it's life and we can't avoid it.
Of course this forum is also opportunity to earn something and to build long term relationships.
It's not perfect place but nice place to be.

Its never easy, I believe what newbies face is newcomer's fright thats for those that has a spark of interest but there are some who has already made a bond not to be productive.
With the former there is hope, if they off load tension and pressure, mastering what ever they can, time is not off the greatest essence.

Well, thank you for this impressive thread.

To me, my quest and goal is to build my knowledge in cryptocurrency.  With the relevant knowledge, I'll  be an authority in this industry.

As a copywriter , I want to be able to write great copies in this field and also become a crypto whitepaper writer.

I have started putting in the time and effort to achieve this goal....

I guess most people who appear in the cryptocurrency market in general and the forum in particular want to make money from the cryptocurrency market. Besides, there are many people who want to develop blockchian technology or help the community
I am very fond of bitcoin and have faith that it will develop in the future so I personally have the goal of increasing the number of bitcoins at the present time.

It's not about setting goals, everyone can do that. What differentiate you from others, what makes you to stand out are the things you'll be willing to do in inorder for you to achieve your desires. What are the sacrifices you'll be willing to make. Can you put in the work, dedication, passion etc, others before you were willing to invest in order to achieve the success they are been praise for today?.

Irrespective of what those goals are, be it advancing on the forum or owning a certain amount of bitcoin before some estimated time, all that matters is your zeal towards achieving that goal. If it's on the forum, you have to understand contributing positively is the only way forward and if it requires not joining a campaign so you don't get distracted, you should be willing to do that. And if it has to do with owning bitcoin then you should be willing to learn some skills that would help you achieve that, like trading, graphic designs, etc.

Newbies have no bright future here if what they do is solely look, search, and hunt for bounties. They will be forever newbies and their knowledge in crypto will be maintained nearly zero. On the other hand, their knowledge and experience on the forum will be very limited, nearly zero too.

To imagine about the future, newbies have to identify their priorities and consistently and patiently do that everyday.

Seeing these sort of "nEwBiE rOaDmApS" are sort of cringey in my opinion. I know setting goals are great, but come on it's not like you're starting a business or something. Along with that, I'm pretty sure a huge majority of the reputable members here didn't even think about having roadmaps and whatever.

Most "successful" members here were simply just really interested in Bitcoin, and that's pretty much it. You really don't even need to try so hard.

The OP kind of reminds me of one of those HR questions that nobody answers with sincerity, although on a professional ground it is easier to envision one’s hopes for himself five years down the road (at least, at certaing ages, whilst one is still hungry for climbing the ropes, and before finding that it’s pretty much more like a game of snakes and ladders).

In the crypto context, I figure that, for the most, it is a lateral hobby and not a main driver in live (with obvious exceptions), and as such, setting roadmaps to obtain knowledge (as opposed to a financial gain) is pretty much far from what the average Joe will do. It’s likely more of an exploratory ground, where one will go at his own pace and time, bearing to the fact that live goes on and, as such, will command the main thrive and needs, leaving leisure to be what it is, with no real need for goals and roadmaps.

In retrospect, going back 2,5 years (to become a virtual Newbie), I recall hearing the buzz and fuzz on the media, and exploring (a very small portion of) just what all this was about. No compass to wade the uncharted muddy waters. No plans (some halfwit hopes though).

Most "successful" members here were simply just really interested in Bitcoin, and that's pretty much it. You really don't even need to try so hard.

For starters, it's strange for you to use that word " cringey" (refers to someone or something that causes you to feel awkward, uncomfortable, or embarrassed—that makes you cringe). First of all, I'm sure 99% of those who read your post will not know what the word means, and secondly why do you feel "awkward, uncomfortable, or embarrassed" for reading OP?

From your perspective, it's easy to say "You really don't even need to try so hard.", but I'm sure you wouldn't think so if you were a beginner. This forum is definitely not supposed to be only for business, but you are working for someone here and you promote your site also, forum is selling ad spots, many users are here just because of some kind of financial interest.

Every newbie (all most of them) just want to copy someone's successful strategy and one day become someone on this forum. Not everyone will succeed, but those who do have some strategy are definitely at an advantage.

Actually, I also asked myself the same question 6 years ago however it has no relation with crypto. Maybe that's because I don't take my crypto journey too serious like some of you guys. I mean, I am already contented that I earn few bitcoins, wait for it to accumulate and then sell when the right time comes Cheesy. As simple as that! Even though trying new things such as alt investing and daytrading come into my mind sometimes, I still never push myself so hard to attain those stuff. I don't know, I just let the universe lead me to the path it wants for me naturally lol. Staying here in the crypto sphere is just a minor part of my life, I choose to focus more on my life outside.

Nevertheless, you are right. Having an introspection is a good habit. This is an effective way of not only knowing your own purpose but finding actions on how will you achieve it as well. I hope this quote motivates all of the newbies out there, "Don't give up on your dreams,. Keep sleeping." Smiley

Setting a five year goal or target shouldn't just be on the forum, it should embrace many, if not all other aspects of the cryptocurrency industry. Newbies often misinterpret what actually should be their purpose. Setting a legendary rank target for example in five years time isn't a bad idea, but also within that time having the wherewithal and copious knowledge of cryptocurrency, capable of speaking about it anywhere, even in seminars(or Just a small meet-up), writing articles to teach others and newbies coming behind you, etc, imo is more important.
Every newbie (all most of them) just want to copy someone's successful strategy and one day become someone on this forum.
From my perspective, that's were they get it wrong, they should be only have the vim to succeed on this forum, it's self limiting imo.

I open this thread because of the question, it's coming back into my mind that when I was interviewed for a job, 5 years from now, I was thinking to be on the top management that is my answer but things are really different when you are working because you'll never gonna maximize your talent and you can't achieve a financial success.

Actually, I quit my job before 5 years so I am not seeing myself in 5 years within that company but here in crypto, in just 2 years, I've achieve financial success in life, I learn that taking the risk is worth in here because I was able to achieve my dream house by just investing with crypto, it's not that big, please don't expect it's a mansion but its my dream house.

and secondly why do you feel "awkward, uncomfortable, or embarrassed" for reading OP?
The same reason why I sort of feel uncomfortable for them when people use words like "bOuNtY hUnTeR" to sort of kinda "uplift" the title of what they're doing.

What I said was mostly geared towards the people who are here solely to make money. I said "You really don't even need to try so hard." in a sense that they don't even need to be bitcoin or cryptocurrency experts to actually gain merits to rank up. Slightly above surface-level knowledge will mostly suffice, really. All most beginners need to do is to simply understand the basic concepts, but nope. Most instead rush straight into bounty campaigns.

No one can rich finish lines or get any kind of achievements if he has never really started his ride. Set up your goals, challenge yourself and keep crawling - slowly but do it daily. Eventually a tortoise can get some achievements. Achievements will be totally different from person A to person B because we have different intellectual ability as well as ability to stick with our goals (determination and patience).

I agree. In addition, in crypto, things change very fast and in different period, newbies have to face with very different challenges. Attraction of easy pattern to get rich (scam projects, ie.) like what we got in 2017 and 2018. In my retrospective perspective, I think I would have not grown and matured well if I did not go through such terrible period of crypto, and survived till now.

Newbies ask yourself where you want to be in 6months, 9 months or even 5years after becoming a member

I guess most would find 5 years to be a broad topic to be foreseen by newbies. Most newbies here frequently asks the same thing, "How to earn." And I guess they wouldn't really get patient in this forum after the toughness of the forum's rules and regulations together with the requirement of campaigns. Maybe they should add "self-discipline" in their roadmap first before anything else as it would conclude to a user's motivation to learn and a patience to earn.

I think i would be happy liquidating my crypto investment after 5 years. And then hopefully putting up my own mining rigs at home to mine cryptos.
