2.9 BTC I found but think it's untouchable.please give advice.

Hi,thanks to everyone here in the last month helping me out,on my last post I never did recover the .000001 BTC with the seed words but that's OK it was just a curious experiment.

The reason I'm finding these old wallets is it's 7 years ago now which is the time I can destroy old records that in case of an audit I no longer need and I'm finding my old bitcoin stuff from back in 2012-13,I'm running Finderouter on 1 address key all others I found,at 0BTC most of them,.4 BTC recovered so far but I found one written on a paper with the address and it has 2.9 BTC in it.

Problem is that all I have is the email which is the same so I'm OK there,the wallet number and the wallet I.D number,it's not a blockchain.com one because the "send wallet I.D" option sent nothing to my email.

That's all I got for you guys,I think it's gone but maybe I'm missing something,the email address will receive the info I need but don't know where to get the info ? There's no wallet services that sign-in by email I think and the wallet number would need a password,I'm done but thought I'd ask as you guys are wicked smart.

Very hard to understand your problems. Could you please write more clearly? Are you trying to recover your fund via blockchain wallet? What exactly written on your paper? Only address or private keys, seeds & wallet I'd? If you have created account on blockchain then you can recover it if you have password or if you still have access of your registered email address. If you had used some other wallet then there should different way.

You will receive wallet id only on your registered email. If your aren't receiving wallet id means you forgot your mail. In that case just check one by one your all mail that you have used previously. Don't forget to search on spam folder as well.

So you've found the login details to a web wallet, but you don't remember which web wallet it is? In that case, the best you can do is search around for web wallets which were up and running in 2013 and see if the credentials match. A lot of web wallets from that time no longer exist though, so your chance of recovering your coins in that case is zero.

Perhaps you could post the format of the wallet number and ID number to the Web Wallets board (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=222.0) and see if anyone recognizes them.

Checking the spam folder is a important advice.
OP probably doesn't remember if he created the account on Blockchain.org (now Blockchain.com). I guess he could check to see what other wallets have thesame/similar login page format (wallet number and the wallet I.D number) within the period he/she opened the account to date.

I don't know what email provider is about, but if by any chance you didn't delete your old messages you might be able to find out exactly what your online wallet is by checking that old messages. Usually, when registering for such services, an email is received to confirm the password or as a welcome message only.

In addition to blockchain.info and Coinbase, there is online wallet called WalletBit back in 2012, but it closed in 2013.

2012-2013 isn't such a distant time period.Usually I remember the accounts that I've created back then.
If you know the BTC wallet website and the wallet email,you could recover the password by visiting the website and clicking on "Forgot password" under the login submit form.However,this option most likely won't work if the wallet service is down.Perhaps you could use the "Wayback machine" form archive.org to visit old webpages and try to remember the name of the wallet service.
Knowing the domain will help for a domain lookup and finding some info about the owner of that domain(his email address).

When I lost my Blockchain account, it took me months to recover it and the solution was the easiest thing I always ignored: searching for "Bitcoin" in my old e-mail account and sorting the e-mails from old to new. Within a few seconds, I found my backups.

Try looking up "Bitcoin", "Wallet" and "Blockchain" in the e-mail address you have found on your paper. Sort the e-mails from old to new and search. Make sure you keep an eye on the attachments - they could be the savior (like in my case). Good luck

This one has 2.9 BTC which I just can't find the wallet provider I used to type in my email and then use "lost password",if the info gets sent to me I only used 3 passwords that I still remember no probs but need to get the info.

So what I meant to ask is what some wallet providers back then,tried Coinbase and Blockchain.com with no luck,I used 2-3 other ones once and a while to see how they were but like you guys said most are out of business,if that's the case I guess it's not recoverable as I don't have the private key,I never wrote that stuff down I just went to the wallet provider signed in then made a new wallet or sent funds out of one.

As for the wallet I.D number it's no good to me if I don't know what wallet provider to type it into.

Don't spend too much time on this guys,it's my fault and I think there gone like you said,if the wallet provider is out of business which is probably to case that's my fault.

You can try out checking the web wallet section of the forum by filtering them into old to new. I have checked couole of threads from 2012 but all of them was blockchain.info (blockchain.com now) and no other web wallet was mentioned over there. You can try checking from here- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=222.1760 If you are lucky enough, you can get some thread on your wallet.

Blockchain had Wallet IDs back in 2013 too - my first ever account was a blockchain.info one and I still have my ID and wallet.json file. I see no point in advising OP to look for the mnemonic phrase as he already said he's been looking everywhere and the only helpful information they have is that ID.. as you can see below:

What you wrote is just a slightly expanded version of what I wrote in a previous post, which is really weird considering that you and others should read and not to repeating same things again. It doesn't seem to matter what is written, but who wrote it. I'm glad my post helped you write your own (if you read it).

Thats because most people are not aware of Bitcoinwallet.com then which was the first bitcoin wallet provider i will ever used and it among bitcoin web wallet that was in existence since the year 2010 but cant recommend their services now. However, I will advise the OP to try it out cause it only require email and pass to access ones account.
OP, do you have the wallet address of the wallet where the 2.9BTC is (to find the wallet provider through it) ?

There comes big challenges. Though they found the wallets running back in 2013 then they have to be running today as well. I believe what he has is just half credentials with half info on service provider. What kind of password is it, whether its just login password to his wallet, or an account, or a application ?

Let us consider it as password to an account or application then there is still twist left over as they will need passkey or private key to access whats in there. That they don't have clearly. Or it could be just vice versa, they have found a password to wallet but not the account where the application is.

Im not sure if you guys are getting my point or not. Ex. If you simply access electrum then you need seed/private key to access it. Then you do set a password for it. The later one we use every time we access it.

Not necessarily. There are plenty of web wallets which only require an email address and password or wallet ID and password, which OP says he has. In fact, many web wallets don't let you access your private keys at all, so you certainly don't need them to gain access to your account.

If you set a password on your Electrum wallet, then all it protects is that specific wallet file. It is not linked to your seed or private keys in any way, and if you have your seed or private keys stored elsewhere, then you can import them in to a new wallet with an entirely different password or no password at all, with no knowledge of the original password.

That is quite a bit of arrogance, no offense. I explained how I was able to get my own JSON file from a Blockchain mail dated back from 2013 or 2014, it was just an advice from personal experience.

To me it looks like you've been recently having a personal problem with me. No, your post did not help me write my own. But believe what you will. You could check my posts from years ago when I explained how I lost my wallet and then recovered it if you are that sure it's me copying your posts (I mentioned JSON only one reply above yours by the way..).

No personal problem I came on here and literally looked around for 5 minutes and didn't see your post so I wrote mine,no problem at all BUT your post is not the official only way to do things either Sir,people with my problem shouldn't be sent to your post and if what you say to do does not work then no need to ask anymore questions or go any further as your post is the answer to everyone's problem because if your advice doesn't work then it's time to give up,that is arrogance Sir,please don't reply I don't play internet names calling.

Can any wallet be accessed through email? Definitely not. You'll need someother information as you've said. Maybe what you need is a search away. Just search through the email. Use keywords related to bitcoin and if you don't find anything, I guess that's it.
