I smell something fishy right from the get go when the OP opened this thread but no one seems to be concern about finding the truth if the OP actually bought the wallet.dat online or not before helping him cause it something thats happening these days.

Meanwhile, I hope the OP is not among those that buy wallet.dat with balance and lost password online.

I think what happen is that the guy got access to his wallet, and changed the password. But now he is reindexing the whole blockchain and it will take a month (slow connection/computer) until he can move the funds.
This is what I understand from his messages.

He is, as stated above, a scammer.

Re-indexing has nothing to do with your ability to
1) Move coins. Since once you have a password you can export the private key and import it into something like electrum.
2) Sign a message.

You are added to ignore, there are many spammers like you.

Just did a test. Started a reindex, still managed to export the private key and import it into electrum in under a minute.

Then I did it on an old slow system with the blocks on an external drive, much slower to even start the re-index and I got bored of waiting so I killed the process, renamed the blocks / chainstate / database folders restarted QT and exported the private key. That took almost 4 minutes.

I changed the password and the file is useless for you, even if you get access to it.

You do realise that changing the password for the wallet.dat on your local computer does absolutely NOTHING to other copies of that wallet.dat right?

I especially like the way you have the notepad reminding yourself to send 1 BTC to iasenko and math09183 ... I also like the way you have the "new password" shown in your video

As Dave pointed out, there is nothing stopping you from using "dumpprivkey" or "dumpwallet" or signing a message from "1GRth6rP4uaPXdw2T6HcGmi7f1RzW4xV94" while Bitcoin Core is resyncing. There is no need to "wait another month"

Except for the fact that you can't sign a message from "1GRth6rP4uaPXdw2T6HcGmi7f1RzW4xV94" can you?

Not really; the video was working when he posted it; I saw it and it was an Electrum wallet, with the address that had the 150+BTC and a lot of text in Russian.

What I don't get is that he first said that he had the address and had swept it, and then he goes on to say that it's a scam and he lost money???

I'd ask for a signed message if he is really in control of the address, but this last turn on this thread is being really mind-blowing

So, I've been offline for a couple of days... and come back to whatever this thread has devolved into... but if I'm reading this correctly:

WOW777 accidentally posted from their alt account "TITANxp"... offering to give several users, including myself 1BTC... and then deleted the message... and then tried to make out that they had been scammed for 2BTC.

Am I correct so far?

Looking at TITANxp's post history, they appear to be trying to sell wallet files for $10...

This possibly rates as the most bizarre, convoluted "bogus wallet" selling con that I've seen. Thanks for the entertainment!
