Problem is, here in the US they are still the tariffs...
Nah...according to Trump, the Chinese pay them
On a serious note though, in my experience, if you are only purchasing a single unit under the limit for an informal entry (believe it's still $2500), while still being above de minimis, you have a good chance of only paying 2.6%. I have only paid 2.6% on every single order since the tariff went into effect and all were informal entries and liquidated at time of release, meaning the determination by customs is final and they can't come back to charge you more later. My S17 Pro was $0.62 over the limit and still only 2.6%.
Formal entries are a different ballgame where you're attesting to the accuracy of the paperwork as the importer and customs has over a year to review before liquidating. Those are the entries that end up getting taxed more later if the paperwork is inaccurate. Key difference is customs files paperwork for informal entries that are liquidated immediately and you or customs support broker/agent/shipper file formal paperwork that customs later reviews and doesn't liquidate for up to a year or more.
I purchased one from the August batch and I'm willing to take my chances on how they tax it. I was going to hold out for an S19 Pro after halving, but this seems like a better deal to me. I just hope the middle board doesn't fry quick like my Z11 did. No problems with Z9 and Z9 mini units.
