You have said the word as it is, there are so many misleading airdrops in the crypto currency space today, and most are even fraud.
Some people run airdrops just to get followers on twitter, some run airdrops to collect peoples private keys, some infiltrate other peoples phone that way too

Be safe and careful.

indeed some airdrops are genuine but some are fake sometimes they ask the airdrop participants to do KYC by using show the real identity held by the participants, from there all data provided can be used for crime without anyone knowing it, it will make your privacy known to many people.

Airdrop asking for KYC to receive their coins or tokens should be a big NO NO. Aside from ending up with value of few bucks, your identity is at risk. You should stay away those kind of airdrop. Also, a lot of airdrops are worthless, maybe way back 2017 you can get valuable coins, but nowadays, if you can find a good one, that's rare.

KYC for airdrop is bullshit, I will never join KYC and will quickly ignore it. Since entering this market, I have only done KYC in exchange and a few valuable bounty projects.

I can't see how Airdrops are dangerous unless you join airdrops from twitter or facebook which are mostly fakes or scam, find real airdrop source and you won't encounter any problem, airdropalert and airdropbob are the best to me, they only introduce well screened projects to airdrop hunters with ratings, I choose the highest rated airdrops

Lets just say there are legit and will give you airdrop tokens. However, the tokens you have gained is it valuable? Or can you at least buy 1 cup of coffee on starbucks with that? Or even the cheapest sachet coffee powder cant be bought. The point is, most airdrop doesnt have much higher value and making them not worthy to join. For me, airdrop is a marketing token and we should have some money out of it from a very small task that we have done like share something on Twitter. Even its just a very light task, it can help them reach appropriate people who would be interested on their project. But it seems airdrop now are reall dissapointing so better avoid it and just join a bounty campaign handled by reputable manager.

Some Airdrops are spam, after getting your email details you will keep getting different types of mails, more like an offer or attractive offers, others are just finding airdrop hunters to promote their garbage so that it can create awareness for investors, my advice is use separate email for airdrops and bounties

That's the common sense, imagine having to do KYC and getting rewarded some pennies, whoever living things out there that are willingly to give away their important information for some cents must be crazy or just don't care about the importance of keeping their data private.

Airdrop is hardly a way of earning passive income, from what I understand about airdrop most of the token airdrop are not even traded yet so not possible to see it as a passive income, although sometimes you can be lucky with some airdrop, immediately they are listed in exchange they have good price and you can earn good money, but nowadays airdrop are mostly worthless, just like a waste of time.

If getting lucky that might happen to you but most of the time those airdrops are worthless, just a waste of time and space inside your wallet. Those who gets lucky are able to trade the tokens that they've got from participating.  Luck pays a big role from this kind of situation, if you don't get the right project then move on and forget about it.

Lots of people already warned others about those airdrops. Even if they are not scam, its not worth the time you would be spending to claim and them and managing them. The value of those coins are really low, after all they are "free coins" that gets distributed on large scale.
Yeah, like you said, other airdrops that collects your information are likely to sell those to other people. So, if you value your privacy and would like to be safe from identity theft, do avoid those Airdrops.

Using a few dollars to get the information and identity of a real person may not be appropriate, and as soon as we receive such requests, we really just feel airdrop is not useful then ignore it to avoid the danger, new people may not be knowledgeable enough to earn income from here but your judgment is pretty much too subjective. Because you can get bad rewards and bad experience with airdrops but except for you, a number of people still know how to work effectively with airdrops, nothing is useless if you know how to use it

I've never joined any airdrops asking me for money unless Minereum which is a Ponzi scheme anyway, the 32000 Minereum tokens I received worth 3500$ now, it's just a luring trap to make you upgrade your eth address to Lv3 on the website for some ETH, very dubious I can see, we can easily ignore scam airdrops if we aren't greedy

Yes, I agree that we must be careful of airdrop because not all airdrop can give us money by participating with the programs. Many of them are end of scamming people and run away with the document of the participants because many projects need the participants to send their primary documents to them. We need to protect our document and not to give to any project that we don't know because that document contains our real identity.

yep there are many scam airdrops nowadays, newbies should avoid airdrop it's a waste of time. They should better participate in bounties like social media campaign, it is just easy tasks.

There is no social network platform where scammer/spammer not try to their shit job. Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, Telegram (haven of spammer Grin), reddit even everywhere scammers try to cheat people specially who are new in crypto land.

Many newbies fall into their traps because of some worthless token. I do not participant in airdrop cause most of them are scam or valueless. I agree that we are still see some good projects bring good quality airdrop which is worthy but those amount of projects are very low and newbies are never find out legit airdrop between thousands of scam airdrop project.

So it's better stay away from it and do not join those airdrop which prefer to send money or sensitive document.

Airdropd were really profitable till late 2017.
The main purpose from conducting airdrop was to raise awareness about new projects and attract investors.

I just dont get if you give something for free, then you either have a lot of it and you dont really need it, or what you give have low value - how can that attract investors? Its either useless or valueless  Grin

We can reduced the risk when we participate in airdrops. The most important thing for participating airdrop is don't give them money from your pocket, whatever it say as fee or anything else. For airdrop that require KYC for participate, look carefully about their team, project, etc. Don't submit KYC if they just give you little money.

If you are newbie and you are looking for ways of making some  Bitcoin and other altcoin, be very CAREFUL with AIRDROP campaign as many of them out there are out to scam/milk you with the little ones at your disposal. Sometimes, they are out to get your personal information like email address, etc and sell it out for money.
Some of them will tell you to send some amount of BTC or ethereum to their address as fee for you to get the aclaimed airdrop reward of which they will later run away and mute their telegram channel.

Be warn is to be armed.

Not only newbies there are still old members here who still goes for airdrops, and you can't blame them, some airdrops are profitable but that is out of 100 or more airdrops, but if they are compiling email for spamming, that will not do good as it will only end up on spam folders, and of course sending funds to get your airdrop is a big no no.
