If you are newbie and you are looking for ways of making some  Bitcoin and other altcoin, be very CAREFUL with AIRDROP campaign as many of them out there are out to scam/milk you with the little ones at your disposal. Sometimes, they are out to get your personal information like email address, etc and sell it out for money.
Some of them will tell you to send some amount of BTC or ethereum to their address as fee for you to get the aclaimed airdrop reward of which they will later run away and mute their telegram channel.

Be warn is to be armed.

Not only newbies there are still old members here who still goes for airdrops, and you can't blame them, some airdrops are profitable but that is out of 100 or more airdrops, but if they are compiling email for spamming, that will not do good as it will only end up on spam folders, and of course sending funds to get your airdrop is a big no no.
Airdrop is now no longer just a beginner done even with a high ranking account. They often join the airdrop, maybe there, they just want to look for luck, because the average airdrop now ends with a scam even though KYC has been sent too, so I'm here too careful if joining the airdrop isn't so haphazard.

Sometimes, they are out to get your personal information like email address, etc and sell it out for money.
This is true, and this one is really alarming for everyone. That is why newbies and anyone who continuously participating in airdrops should avoid those airdrops that require everyone to submit KYC verification to avoid their personal information to be stolen.

BIG WINNER!

There are many airdrop project in crypto market  but join before you know about Airdrop because first of all there is a matter of information that they are thinking of scanning but they have to work very carefully and submit their documents.

What are the types of airdrop scams?

Dump Airdrops
Private Key Scams
Information Trolling
Bait and Switch

Airdrops these days are too different from the airdrops that we had a few years ago. We have earned good rewards through airdrops before by just doing simple tasks and we're not asked to provide most of our personal details. It's risky to join airdrops nowadays because they're requiring us to provide our personal details including our social media accounts. They're asking us to do lots of tasks but still ending up being unpaid.
If you're just a newbie, you better not fall for this kind of trap and try to look for better ways to earn in the Crypto world. Airdrops now are ways of scammers to deceive and fool beginners.

actually the airdrop campaign can still be profitable, but our level of caution in participating must be more guarded. fraud can occur, beyond that airdrop campaigns that do not provide benefits will always be there and our ability will be widely used when looking for a profitable airdrop.

You nailed it out and that's the truth, many airdrops today are not worth the attention let alone efforts given to them, because they are clearly out to scam unsuspecting people of their hard earned money. What surprises me is the fact that, a project carrying out an airdrop campaign will then ask the users to send ETH for transfer fee, to activate wallet and so on, funny enough some people will still send. So I just hope newbies will come across this post and be enlightened so that they won't continue falling for scams all in the name of airdrops. Another to watch out is those asking for private keys and so on.

This is exactly the business that they've seen by taking advantage the people who likes to join airdrops. They're sell it to marketing agencies and that's why if you have something in your email like an endorsement from an ICO without remembering you've signed up one. Then the past fill up application that you have filled with an airdrop or of the same already sold or sent it to a marketing agency so that you'll be one of their recipients.

Some of them will tell you to send some amount of BTC or ethereum to their address as fee for you to get the aclaimed airdrop reward of which they will later run away and mute their telegram channel.

Be warn is to be armed.
This never gets old and too bad that many still gets caught by this scam.

Airdrops became popular around 2017 and during that time there were several very good airdrops that had decent reward, i have seen people making good bucks but after that the quality of airdrops has dropped mostly we get is useless tokens that do not have an exchange or value and even there are scams and phishing attempts too in the name of airdrops so personally i do not recommend them now.

Newbies usually fall traps easily, so it is not a good idea to advise any form of an airdrop to the inexperienced users. The spam emails and useless tokens are the known part of the story, there are more on background of the process. New accounts open a different version of the same airdrops and ask the personal details which can be used for decrypting the identity or sensitive information. This information is useful for finding the passwords on the crypto exchanges.

things may have been different a couple of years ago like in 2013  but nowadays whenever someone is giving away something (seemingly) for free there is always a catch. usually they want something in return like what OP says (personal information) but also sometimes they are after the bitcoins you may already have. and to do that there is a lot of malware being spread as "wallets" of the said coin which the user has to download if they want to receive the "free" coins. and as they do their computer is infected and they lose their bitcoins.
The malware issue spread through supposed wallet download is the reason I do not like participating in any bounty that has such attached to part of the condition for hunters. And so far I have not have any issue with missing coin through hacks. I believe most hacks happen through this method.

One of  my core words especially to a newbie is the need and importance of understanding the basics of crypto currency.
Before you even gather the idea of joining airdrops or bounties; you need to have an understanding (basics) of what you are getting into.

First learn how crypto currency works, private keys, blockchain wallets; how to stay safe, learn and understand the principles first before joining airdrops.
So that when you join airdrops, with the knowledge you have, you are able to identify true or fake ones.

Don't just rush into airdrops, always do your own research

yep there are many scam airdrops nowadays, newbies should avoid airdrop it's a waste of time. They should better participate in bounties like social media campaign, it is just easy tasks.

Can we really say the bounties is some how free from scam? I don't think so because, there are so many investors and participants who do complain of been scammed bounty program that was advertised here in this forum. So I don't bounty campaign is completely free the said problem.

I am not participating in any airdrop for a very long time because there is no point in collecting shit coins with no value and majority are made to collect your data and i have seen many bounties asking for your identify verification in the premise that it will be used to verify that you are not cheating them, pretty convincing stuff but i will pass all these bullshit.

Some of them will tell you to send some amount of BTC or ethereum to their address as fee for you to get the aclaimed airdrop reward of which they will later run away and mute their telegram channel.
If you understand that there is nothing free available you will not fall for scams, there are scammers preying everywhere for victims and if you have that idea on the back of your mind, you will not fall prey Smiley.

bounty campaigns and airdrops often occur scams but for beginners I think it doesn't matter because it can be used as an experience that can be saved so that they will know which projects are scam or not, at least participating in a number of bounty campaigns and airdrops can be a bit of aiding the economy when lucky.

no wonder, if most of the prize hunters still rely on this token or hunt for free tokens through the Airdrops campaign. today many airdrops have sprung up but I am personally not interested in that. it's important for anyone to be vigilant and never send et gas costs just to claim tokens from airdrops!

Actually airdrop is an effective alternative to get rewards for a newbie. As long as we know the risks and forbidden things we must do to avoid fraud. Some things you should consider when you want to join airdrop, IMHO:
- Make sure that airdrop news events are legit. Check the official account of the organizer, and ask the truth.
- Don't join airdrop which requires you to make a deposit first, it's a scam, as the OP explained above
- Do not be easily provoked with large rewards, usually, it's the maximum range if the highest price is reached, understand that
- Do not carelessly do KYC only for a few airdrops, your personal identity is very important

A few days ago I found a website that is quite trustworthy, although it is still in the development stage, the information is complete and good (does not include Reff like most similar sites), please try here https://dropsearn.com/events/active/

Not only problem in airdrop, to receive bounty rewards some projects is make conditions to send some Ethereum  which amount will be transaction cost. Some scammer are also here for to sell your KYC information. Newbie should active in this forum then you will know some legit airdrop or campaign

no wonder, if most of the prize hunters still rely on this token or hunt for free tokens through the Airdrops campaign. today many airdrops have sprung up but I am personally not interested in that. it's important for anyone to be vigilant and never send et gas costs just to claim tokens from airdrops!
There are many looking for free token and many has been a victim of scam of AirDrop. Since I once a victim of scam I never join again even fill-up for the AirDrop. It is a must to verify first if it a legit and worthy of your time to join.

That mistake is a very valuable lesson. That makes you more concerned and serious about analyzing before deciding to join. Remember, don't just be profit-oriented. Scammers often use airdrop to get your identity by giving KYC conditions or stealing your funds by giving conditions to make a deposit to get a reward.
IMHO, only join airdrop from an exchange or a really promising project. Upbit often holds airdrops to celebrate the first listing of a coin or token, first come first serve, so we must always update the news.
