Back then they still didn't understand what bitcoin is all about. And all they talk is that it is going to be shutdown by the government and it's just a fad. Moving forward seven years ago, some of them might have change their view or at least this old video is still relevant specially if you're a perma-bear or really hates bitcoin per se. Well they missed a lot!

It's funny to see media reporters talking about something they barely understand, but they can describe it as a Bubble that will vanish soon.
It's even more funniest to read comments below the video. Most of the comments are supporting the new crypto-currency and not really believe what media said even they seems not to be made by experienced crypto entousiasts, like this one:

Maybe it was good that media wasn't really interested in discussions about bitcoin at early years.

It is always like this media keeps on giving out their reports but that is only to make others have the same idea as they do. Those are in the past years of bitcoin and we can see the changes in how people embrace bitcoins and cryptocurrencies little by little. What we need to do now is wait on what bitcoins could be in the mere future.

This is a look at BTC from the perspective of mostly US media (CNN, CNBC,FOX, Bloomberg), and in fact they all have one thing in common, they had no idea at the time what BTC really was (with a few exceptions), and the situation is almost identical today. One should be aware of the fact that the media are the ones that shape public opinion and are controlled by 4-5 large corporations at least as far as the USA is concerned.

In fact, not much has changed in this time, except for the price of course.

Sounds both good and bad when you say "old video (2013)", I feel old but semi-OG at the same time Those were very exciting times to be honest, I turned from a newbie who had no idea what cryptocurrency even means into a BTC fanboy in a matter of hours. Although today it is more adopted than it was back then, I still believe 2012-2016 were the largest boost Bitcoin had when it comes to adoption, price, number of wallets/investors/hodlers, mining rigs and whatever else you will.

I am just not sure if similar times are coming in the next few years - maybe only if something truly revolutionary happens or suddenly lots of people decide to take their financial freedom back. Anyways, with all these ups and downs it's been so far probably one of if not the most fascinating timeline of my life

Prior to that, Bitcoin was certainly something only few people new, but this was its first publicity, and it wasn't a good one. So it's natural that with black markets as the main use cases and the FBI doing its best to shut them down, Bitcoin could seem like something that will be shut down or will just die out because of being useless. 10 years+ since its inception, these so called financial experts in mainstream media is still raising the same issue. Regulation, KYC, Terrorism, Money Laundering, Illegal Gambling, you name it.....and yet Bitcoin still remains.

Nice compilation! Time is flying so fast, it's hard to realize that these things were 7 years. This video bring some strange feelings. Bitcoin skyrocketing at $240 . What a time it was. And mentioning Mt. Gox or Silk Road, well, that's history of Bitcoin.
And I wasn't aware that Bitcoin got so much attention from mainstream media back in 2013. But yeah, it's obvious that back then people had very little knowledge about Bitcoin and this is why it was a lot of FUD in media. Now situation is better in general, but still most people have no clue about Bitcoin...

It is very natural if this happened, especially at that time, Bitcoin was still not so popular, the term may be just "rising star". Moreover, it is likely that many people who did not like and are anti-Bitcoin and assumed that Bitcoin is just a technology that will be in vain. It is really funny showing those people who don't believe on bitcoin and keep saying that it would be going to be shut down by the government but now they are using it, before when the bitcoin is not that too valuable people see bitcoin as nothing so they don't explore it and that is what their biggest mistake because when they had started the bitcoin since then, I think they are now rich.

It's funny that you can see Roger Ver in the video as well, back then he will still a proponent.


Obviously, the price did change a lot, but I'm talking about the misconception about bitcoin specially by social media giants. And it only goes to show that the growth was not smooth sailing. Many discredit it back then, but bitcoin has move forward. We may see the same attacks in the media for the next 10 years again, but bitcoin has already proven that they are all wrong.

The man simply knows how to identify the right opportunity, which proved not only in the case of BTC, but also in many other investments. In two and a half years we will see if he will be right or if he is just lucky for the first time

There were lots of misconceptions and fake news about bitcoin and its use. Back then, our media would report that Bitcoin has been used to be a requirement of mass consumption or use during the pandemic because of the lockdown. It was of course denied by the presidet and that's when I thought social media contains lots of really misleading information. But when a local, popular, and rated media network reports about Bitcoin, people would not question its authenticity so whether it was good or bad, the people would believe it.

This show however made Bitcoin something useful for the people but let us see whether this will continue or not.

Well back in the day there is a huge doubt on bitcoin since it is new for most of us and we didn't think of what it could become in the next 10 or 20 years of existence that's why most people are not into bitcoin.
Now that bitcoin has become a huge thing in the investment, I really think that people who doubted it is now into it especially these days where markets are down and bitcoin is soaring.

Media care only about stuff that makes their viewer interested on which case from bitcoin back then there isn't that much of interest. I'm glad now that they started noticing it.

2013 was the year I started using bitcoin. That was the time many people knew about bitcoin for the first time as many media covered the news about rise in price of bitcoin. I came across bitcoin looking for alternatives to traditional payment gateways and found bitcoin among internet articles.
Bad for me, I didn't watched the prediction video and was not able to hold enough coin to be glad of being an early user.

From the beginning of the bitcoin-only, a few people support this kind of coin but some of them are going against to the use of the bitcoin because it is just new and they cannot see the possibility and the possible outcome of the bitcoin to make more profit and by the time goes by the government forget about the use of it until the market price of the bitcoin reaches its highest market peak season and now they getting curious what is all about bitcoin.

By the people getting millionaire and rich because of the bitcoin many people follow their steps and dreams to be one of them the bitcoin proves all the things it can do just to make huge popularity,respect, and trust of their users. There are a lot of times that the market fall and rise because it is volatile but even it is quite risky many people still support this coin but the government sees the potential of this kind of transaction getting abused so they make rules and regulation on some of the highest crypto exchange and wallet to get a KYC or Know your customer to avoid getting Anonymous.
