Angry  I ordered bitcoins from Simplex.  They hit my bank for the money right away, but rejected my request because they said my driver's license photo was not clear enough.  I spent hour trying to get a perfect picture, and they kept declining me via email.  So, I went out to their web site and did the web chat to see why they kept rejecting me, and why they wanted the picture.  The guy said my picture was still too difficult to read.  I could read every single letter on the license in the picture I sent.  It became clear that they wanted a perfect picture that they could use to steal my identity.  I told him to cancel the order, then quickly called my bank and told them not to let the transaction clear.  Luckily, I got it canceled in time.

I see that Reddit is full of complaints by people who were scammed by Simplex.  I wanted to make a post out there, but all of the posts have been archived and don't allow new posts.

Stay away from Simplex!  It is not only a scam, but they are trying to steal your ID.

As long as the morons keep wasting time to KYC exchanges, these shits will continue.

Explore Bisq.io. If it seems difficult, try LocalCryptos.com or HodlHodl.com for FIAT to Crypto conversion and vice-versa. For ERC20 tokens, use Uniswap Exchange or Kyber Network.

Use only exchanges that allow you to order without even asking for KYC like Binance. The KYC is only required if you want higher orders and limits.
Avoid the uncommon exchanges.

Thank you for the responses.  I had to Google KYC, but understand it now.  The guy I chatted with at Simplex said that they also sometimes require the customer to do a web chat and hold up his/her license so they can see it, and sometimes required the customer to do a web chat and repeat sentences.  All that for $200 worth of bitcoins.  I just bought a vacuum cleaner for $200, and didn't even have to show my license.

It's nothing new in crypto space. Suggestion wound be just keep distance from such unfamaliar exchanges.Don't make your identity so cheap. It could be dangerous. As far as I know kyc only necessary for bigger amount of withdraw. So it's totally scam idea to take peoples kyc just for withdraw. Just keep distance them.
