Free TON Blockchain and tokens are launching today by the decentralized community, which claims that Telegram needs to step away from the project.

The Free TON community, an independent group of software developers, validators and users are launching the "Free TON Blockchain" today, May 7.

The blockchain would appear to be based on the Telegram Open Network, the blockchain originally created by encrypted messenger app Telegram.

The TON community had previously declared that it would release the network, despite Telegram's long-running legal dispute with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission and the agency's continuous efforts to block the network's launch.

According to an announcement shared by TON Labs, the community will launch the Free TON Blockchain along with free "TON" tokens to be distributed to users.

Interesting. Are they in anyway connected to Telegram? Or are the community members not happy after contributing to the Telegram ICO and not getting anything in return? This will be interesting to watch. Hope it's fully decentralized Telegram.

With what I have read from op's reference, it's more of this. They probably sick and tired of the project through the management of Telegram. It's their project and they should be the one who's working on it. This is shameful on their part that the community they have built steps on and says that get out of the project so they can turn over and control the progress which should have been done even before. I've seen this project and it's like a mute but popular named project.

TON has been integrated with Telegram app. You can access TON wallet @wallet within Telegram app. Same for Tonspace Dex/wallet deployed on TON blockchain but you can access thru @wallet TON bot.
