ICO is not about to die soon, it's already dead, if you come across any new project using ICO it's because the team lacks behind, I'd even avoid such project because it's possible that the team don't know what's happening in crypto space presently or they don't want to raise fund through IEO since there will be some screening to make sure the team are real

Crypto projects are most times unpredictable, I have seen projects that offers good services and have good background, better use case and partnerships too and the project died two years later, research is a part but won't safe your ass every time, only investing what you can afford to lose will safe you.

If I want to invest my money, I would like to invest on a known and trusted project. If the company or platform is unknown then I will try to see its Roadmap, previous history and other investors. If it fascinates me, then I will try to see its review.  if everything will be ok then I will decide to invest there. most often I invest on known and big platform, cause if I invest a rich amount of money, IMO even if the profit is low, no risk should be taken.

Yes you are right and just like 2017 the scenario will change once again and soon icos or ieos will again find the lost hype and will start to be profitable again but it will need the market to change the sentiment completely from negative to positive.

I agree that research is important if we want to invest in the long term, new projects need a long time to produce products that can generate income and without in-depth research, we will get stuck on projects that are only pump and dump

This is what i keep telling my friends who are just considering getting into the investing business. Nothing's for certain but we can atleast lessen the chances of wasting our time, money and effort if we conduct the sufficient amount of research before investing in "promising" projects.
