After Jun 10, Bitmain will no longer repair these Antminers: S11, S9, T9+, etc..

Bitmain is sending this message to customers, quite surprising and at the same time worrying. I didn't know you could still send an S1 for repairs...

In order to better assist you to meet the challenges of market changes and technological innovation, we will stop providing maintenance services for the following models from May 10, 2020:
 
A3, B3, D3, DR3, DR5, G1, G2, L3, L3 ++, L5, R1, R3, R4, S1, S3, S5, S7,  S9, S9I, S9J, S11, T9 +, T11, V9, X3, Z9MINI, Z9
 
In addition, we will stop providing maintenance services for E3 from June 10, 2020.
If you have maintenance requirements for the above models, please create a repair ticket before the deadline and send the machine to our repair sites according to our After-Sales Maintenance Policy. Although we will stop the maintenance service of the above models, we will still be happy to provide you with product consulting services, including online and hotline customer service. At the same time, you can also get the product-related FAQ from our knowledge base and community.

You gotta love how they phrase is as "to better assist you" when they are actually assisting you less. It is surprising to see the S9 in there, given a recent article that states 23% of the current world hashrate is still being produced by S9s...

While some of the models are really old, some like the S11 are surprising to see being dropped.

Sure they just want to focus on the S17, whatever. Hopefully more people will now offer independent repair services.

So if you still have some of those models and you want THEIR repair service, better send them now...

I have received the same email, honestly, none of the gears mentioned here are worth sending to Bitmain for repair anymore, the cost of shipping outweighs the miner's price in most cases unless of course, you live next to their warehouse/facility, for me shipping from china is expensive, shipping TO china is even more expensive, the nearest location I could send to is the one in the Netherlands, and that still costs way too much, I usually either fix my own gears or simply get rid of them.

Sure they just want to focus on the S17

Maybe it's not just that they want to, they may have no choice, with 30% and more failure rate on these 17 series (Many still under warranty), and since Bitmain promised the large Chinese mining farms to even send their technicians to fix those miners on-site, they probably are running out of technicians, 30% of tens of thousands of gears to be fixed are enough to keep Bitmain busy.

I agree with Mikeywith. When i bought my t9+ it was still profitable but had a bad chain. They absolutely refuse to send you parts out of warranty and it would have doubled the purchase price of the miner to have them repair it.

Bitmain repair has always seemed like a shit service to me from the start. I must say I am shocked they didn't just raise their price for repair to an absurd amount so that most people wouldn't bother and they could still be greedy and grab every satoshi. Odds are they just don't have or want to stock parts for these models.

Honestly, If I were Bitmain's CEO and I see newbies still buy my S19 for $2000 for end of August delivery with a daily profit of $6.9 before the power bill, so that's over a year to ROI if you have free power, I wouldn't bother with the warranty to start with, thanks to all those who want to get rich quickly, Bitmain doesn't have to bother with anything, just slightly overclock their S19, call them S21, sell them for $4000, and people will still buy it.

if i buy a lot of some gear. i often order spare parts.

i have s15 psu, s17 psu ,a few spare controllers.
