Both of them definitely wanted to win by KO but nothing happened in that match, I saw Berlanga who had fallen but he was still able to express that he still had high spirits by fighting both of his hands and I had time to laugh seeing this. Although Berlanga failed to win the match but I salute him because when the final bell rang he shouted as if he was satisfied with the match even though the result was a loss.
Cancelo who was indeed superior in experience made it difficult for Berlanga to be able to hit his KO. But I think in this match Berlanga gained additional experience for himself. And honestly I previously thought that Berlanga could beat Cancelo but indeed experience cannot lie.
Fight from the start has shown that Canelo is far superior and indeed Canelo managed to make Berlanga fall but it was not blow that made Berlanga really unable to continue the fight, it is clear that Berlanga is not worthy opponent for Canelo but yes we know about the negative hype about the Canelo fight that chose Berlanga.
This victory also makes Canelo still retain the title as well as the WBC, WBA and WBO super middleweight championship belts so that in the future we can see Canelo fight again for the championship title, I wonder who will be the next fighter whether the mandatory challenger or the fighter chosen to make it easier for Canelo to retain the title.
But you are right that this fight provides lessons and experience for Berlanga, he can learn and start preparing himself again if in the future he gets the opportunity to fight for the title again, experience is everything and with experience boxer will be able to measure his ability to fight better.

Think that Canelo is going easy way again? I was thinking, that after a declass against Bivol, Canelo needed to rebuild reputation, maybe get some confidence. He had some easy opponents after Bivol, and I suppose it is time for him to get a real deal. On the other hand, look on his division. He has fought nearly everyone decent. Who should he face next if he wants to improve? Fighting guys like Berlanga is just building win record and fulfilming contract duties. He urgently needs to face top opponents of other divisions. Or it will be boring to watch him winning another young blood.

Canelo has become very much boring similar to much of the boxers after they have become older. I reckon there are 2 fighters who has created excitement in their older age, this is Floyd Mayweather and the Philipine Pacman.

You are correct, Canelo should stop avoiding David Benavidez heheheh. This is a very big risk, however. Another boxer who wants to fight him in super middleweight division is also Bivol but Canelo is also scared of this because very risky heheheeh.

Bivol is about to fight Beterbiev. Bivol is now running divorce process and his wife is raging in social media, so it going to be tough, painful and long for him. With all that, it might be that Bivol will be available for a next fight in half a year or a year. Would Canelo wait for so long for a rematch? Or would rather get someone ranked top#11-20 to fight against in his division? Cheesy Canelo talked so much about his legacy, but keep on collecting above average quality skulls Cheesy Definitely he is going against someone who he will definitely beat easily by points.

On Bivol and Canelo rematch, it was Canelo who mentioned this after his loss in light heavyweight division against Bivol. After Canelo's mention, Bivol replied that he will agree on a rematch if the rematch is in super middleweight division and Canelo should risk his championships if he demands this rematch. Canelo was very much in silence after this heehehehe.

He is also very much silent on David Benavidez heheheh. I reckon Canelo should accept the challenge from Bud Crawford. This is a superfight that he certainly can win.

He remains silent on Benavidez and Bivol, likely because they are tough opponents to beat. I agree with you, mate, that a superfight with Bud Crawford is probably his next move. Crawford is older and smaller, and this fight doesn’t need much promotion since both are already big names in boxing.

Or, Canelo could have an exhibition fight Cheesy Or a non-title fight but in his division. I know it sounds crazy, but while waiting for convenient opponent (Bivol to become weaker for example Cheesy) he could have a joke fight against someone more media than him. After all, Tyson Fury had that non-title fight against Ngannou while both being heavyweights Cheesy Or a fight like Mayweather had against McGregor.

It's doable but Canelo wanted more money, and I do not think that Turki is willing as we have remember that they have been at odds lately as HE is criticizing Canelo as he doesn't want Canelo doing his business or something like that. So there is a verbal tussle, that's why in the post fight interview, Canelo says "no comment" on the Crawford fight.

And I reckon that Canelo will reason out that he doesn't need Crawford as he had his legacy already.

@TopTort777 - maybe his next fight will be like a exhibition match, it is going to be a title fight, but Canelo will obviously choose a fighter that he can beat easily, so no more risk for him moving forward.  Cheesy. No Bivol, no Crawford, and no Benavidez.

And according to reports, this are the numbers on this fight,

Quote
Sports Business journal reports Canelo vs Berlanga did:

$17 Million live gate

650,000 PPV sales.

Thoughts?

If all accurate great numbers for boxing considering the competition on the same night.

https://x.com/BOXINGnBBQ/status/1836502475869970543

And what do you think of the numbers? If this is accurate then I must say that it's a good numbers as it also against a UFC 306. And again, it just shows that Canelo is still the cash cow of boxing no matter what his critics did say about this fight.

^^ Great numbers in my opinion, and I do agree, Canelo is still the cash cow and if he can have this consistent numbers moving forward, it will justify his $35 million guaranteed price for his every fight. And this numbers is similar to what he did against Munguia, 550,00-560,000 PPV and 21 million live gate sales.

Although Canelo is running out of dance partners to have this kind of numbers in the future. He had clean up the division, he doesn't want to fight Benavidez, and if he is going to fight Bivol, he wanted it at 168 lbs, and then Crawford, I don't think that he will be paid at least $100 million or up as this is what is being reported as his asking price.
