An ASIC outperforms a FPGA, that's why everybody stopped using FPGA's to mine BTC a long, long time ago.
The only reason I see to use an FPGA is the one that you would like to change cripto and alghoritm because one could be more profitable than the other on a specific day/period.
A specialized machine won't neìbe flexible enough but I agree that performances cannot be higher.
That's true, but it doesn't hold for POW algo's for which ASIC's have been developed. This specific
scam miner claims to outperform ASIC's for the sha256d POW algo and the scrypt POW algo, that's simply impossible.
If they would have come up with realistic numbers for ASIC resistant POW algo's, they would have had a strand of believabilety, now they do not.
EDIT, i've just read their FAQ, this is a prime example of the quote "if something is to good to be true, it usually is"... Wow
Beside from the fact their FAQ is basically avoiding all "difficult" explanations as to how on earth they succeeded in making a FPGA so unbelievably performant, they also claim following (absurd) things in their FAQ:
- They'll cover S&H... To my knowledge, that's the only miner company that's doing this
- They'll cover the custom's fee... Really?
- 7 working days delivery time... Wow
- The product is completely plug and play, you don't even need physical network sockets, wifi will do
- Everything is in stock, it'll be sent right away... That's a first...
- Covid-19 doesn't impact the delivery time
- They have a very complete warranty
- The miner doesn't mind humidity... Apparently
- 10 kb/s minimum network speed...
Even if i had no other info, based on this FAQ alone, i'd still call this product a scam...
