Hello All,

Good Day!

Just checking if there is anyone from Japan here and has any experience with online gambling in Japan and the usage of bitcoin.
We are just starting to open this market and would like to hear your feedback (i.e games, crypto payments) if possible.  Thanks in advance!

Cheers,

Connie

I just want to add a suggestion although not sure if you will receive some massive feedbacks there but no harm if you will try. Smiley

My suggestions are always to be "provably fair" and have a help desk that's quick to respond to any issue on any social media platform you advertise on (including here).  With regards to BitCoin adoption, promoting Lightning Network is one I always champion because you can run a LN App on your Android or similar device and can top up your gambling account on-the-go while playing at a Casino that has a working App/Website.

If you can work out a "provably fair" version of Pachinko then you may have a captive audience.  (not sure what other games the Japanese play or favour, I've actually played live Pachinko in my travels - it's a fun distraction)

I hope that your new venture goes well for you but as far as I know Japanese people are not that much into gambling. In many poker rooms I have played I rarely have seen Japanese Ip addresses there.May be they play with Vpns but again I don’t know the Japanese people as people who like gambling a lot but maybe I am mistaken.Regarding gambling with bitcoin if you find users for your casino in Japan bitcoin is better known from a majority of the country compared to other countries.

If I'm not mistaken, gambling is illegal in Japan. Isn't that right?

On the other hand, they are definitely obsessed with Pachinko and why don't you develop something along those lines? An online Pachinko game that supports Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies? How's that sounds?  Wink

Yes, according to the Penal Code of Japan. All forms of gambling are most banned but there are some exemptions of banning.

Pachinko and poker are classic yet a very popular game therefore I suggest that it will also get a positive response once you include these two games some may be hesitant at first but once they get used to it and feel the thrill or the excitement then it will be passed through words. For Bitcoin adoption, it is really a nice thing and Lightning Network will be the best for me because you may access it anytime or anywhere you want. Probably, the help desk will be an advantage and can create more players for they will know that they will be heard if needed.

I agree, that gambling is illegal in Japan, but for some strange reason, that's why majority of Japanese gamblers venture to its Asian neighbour just to play in a casino.

But as far as online, Pachinko (for the young crowd) will be one candidates that they are looking to play online, and of course, Mahjong (for the old and traditional), this is not just a favourite in Japan, but across Asia as well.

If you look at the link I provided for Pachinko https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pachinko you will see the loop-hole is that the ball-bearings (or tokens) used are exchanged twice outside the gaming area.

Pachinko machines and the classic American pinball machines have a lot in common - the balls are sent into the playing field, they land in various shoots of hit targets and accumulate points.  Those points are your winnings - pin-ball you usually "win" a free game and the venue keeps the proceeds.  Pachinko the winnings are smaller and you get to keep those winnings.  I've actually seen on eBay adverts for engraved or stylised ball bearings you can use to play on the machines.

Anyone setting up a Pachinko game would have to factor in ball movement and frequency of wins that are "provably fair" (not to mention the "House EEdge") - It can probably be argued quite successfully that your crypto is buying game plays in the same way you buy three or five (or however many) balls when you play pin-ball and your winnings are more game plays which you either "cash out" or continue playing.  (a similar argument can probably be made concerning Live Casino poker chips - you "buy" the chip and you that token to place your bets.  If you win those chips are either cashed out or used to place more wagers).

Actually yes, But still offline gambling store on prefecture Osaka like Umeda and Namba has pachinko building crowded on every street I have seen. although in pandemic conditions, gamblers are still in line to play pachinko. Not surprise, still Obachan domination. genki desyo

Interesting that no one I can think of has actually tried the Japanese gambling market but I remember last year when Monacoin was used in some gambling apps (Monacoin is a Japanese altcoin).

I'm curious about enforcement if it's illegal in Japan, whether the authorities actually crack down. My feeling is that they don't.

Well, the Monacoin in pachinko will be great since these two are both accepted in your country and you will have a seamless start on your new venture. In Japan, --they are really strict in gambling but some sports betting are allowed including Pachinko where in this game noncash prizes can be converted to cash through a third party outside the establishment and that makes the reality that Japanese still do gambling. Monacoin is another form of altcoin that can be used for online transactions with this it is really possible that it can be used in online gambling but nevertheless those sites came from a different country. No government or authority is perfect it may seem that Japan is quite good at implementing their rules but at some point we may just think that rules are still being implemented in the local areas by an individual or a group and may also break it under some circumstances.
