I am from Africa and I am not seeing this revolution that they talking about, I have not seen many African governments speaking well about bitcoin and I have not seen many African governments accepting bitcoin. so where is this revolution that are talking about? in my country for example there are thousands of young people who have a smartphone and use it to get on instagram, facebook and whatsapp, but don't worry about wanting to know about bitcoin. I think people who find out about bitcoin are people looking on the internet for ways to earn money or looking for places where they can invest money. Because from what I see of the young people of my country, they are still skeptical about making money on the internet, maybe that is the reason why bitcoin is little known and few people used in my country.

So probably there is a lot of hype around Africa as of late, but then again there are a lot of issues that the government is facing but I do hope that bitcoin will have its place in Africa and help the population, specially those unbanked.

It's a good thing to see a documentary on bitcoin revolution in Africa. From what I have seen bitcoin will help Africa grow financially because so many people lost interest in Africa when the credit card scam was recorded to come a lot from African countries. Now bitcoin is here I think people will trust having deals with African's at least we can entrust everything on escrow.

How can it possibly help only Africa ? I think Africa is even behind from early adopters or investors from other continent.

Those who sold their bitcoin for exchange of pizza are not in Africa I guess.
Those who bought at the early stage when price was still in satoshi are not in Africa I guess.
Those who bought when price was just climbing to few hundred of dollars are not in Africa too I guess.

Therefore, Africans are late adopters and even at the moment, I believe Africans who have few bitcoins are those in this forum and maybe acquired from signature campaign (maybe). The real African investors are just getting to know about it or are still preparing to make their minds up to invest in it while price keep moving up (of course it won't wait for nobody).

This means for me, if price stays at what it is and we don't see a new ATH, bitcoin won't help Africa or any other person who buys and only hodls, in expectation of an increase. Because talking about helping or profiting, we have to see a considerable difference in hodling price or cost and actual price at a certain time.

Maybe Africans should hope for a new ATH therefore    

I am from Africa, Many of your narratives are true because truly African are not early adopter. But this is not what the documentary is all about. It is about the way crypto is helping Africans especially in many part of Africa with low standard of living. For instance, before this bitcoin revolution, it is very difficult for many Africans to pick up a freelance job because many of the platform such can be access do not offer payment options that is available for Africans. It is a rigorous process with a lot of charges when you get paid with check. But today with the help of crypto, Africans can now compete with other freelancers around the world and also work and get paid online. In some countries like Nigeria, crypto have put smiles on the face of the people than the government. You can not work a kilometer in many domestic place without seen banners about cryptocurrencies. This is why I'm interested in the documentary even with the trailer showing something that I already saw from other documentaries, I'm interested why are they doing a documentary about Africa, what's makes the country special in terms of cryptocurrency that it deserves to be in a full length documentary. Read your comment and thought about how it make sense, geography of a country affects crypto revolution. I'm so interested in knowing more. I hope the docu won't revolve around topics that we already know about bitcoin, we want to know more about how crypto is affecting Africa. Already read some comments from other who lives in africa that they don't see the revolution the docu is talking about, I hope the docu will cover both sides.

Last time i watched this excellent documentary from the award winning producer/director Torsten Hoffman "new Cryptopia: Bitcoin, Blockchains and the Future of the Internet" it is very intense and detailed doc about the entire industry

i watch this video but there are many problems. In this epidemic situation all wants to keep money in their home or pocket and withdraw money from bank account. If everyone tries to do this then the bank or govt how can return these lot of money to holders? It is not possible. Like this btc is a virtual money and no one can use btc directly to any where. At first we need to convert btc to real money than to buy something. It remains same and give pressure to real money. We need to establish to use btc directly to buy or to use anywhere as like real money in our real life. And we can be more safe cause real money can transfer virus/bacteria or any other disease but btc is totally online system and we can be ahead one more step about safety.

Haven't watched the documentary so can't really comment but if it's like most other discussions about blockchain and crypto used in emerging economies, then yeah, it's usually overstated. I'm not from Africa but also from the Global South and have worked most of my life in various parts, including East Africa.

There are some revolutions there, monetary wise, but we're talking about Mpesa and other types of low-fi money systems but when I DID see a crypto/Bitcoin ad, it's usually for trading, speculation or some fake ponzo shit.

I am looking forward to this documentary focusing on the many possibilities, potential and hindrances that Bitcoin and cryptocurrency can be facing in the big continent of Africa. Certainly, this is a big frontier for Bitcoin and there is a big market waiting for the many things that cryptocurrency-focused entities can offer. In Africa, a big number of people are not being served by established banking system and this can open up new opportunities for platforms wishing to establish a name in the region.

When I was new in the crypto space, I've already read a lot of article about how useful bitcoin in countries where there less or no bank at all, and they have remittance certain but taking advantage of the situation charging high fees, they are the sharks in the remittance industry, with bitcoin, they can transact inside and outside the country as long as they have the internet, so if this country's economy will grow because of bitcoin, I will be very proud that I have invested and supported bitcoin as that simply means more adoption to come in the future.

About the trailer, it is good as far as potential of bitcoin is considered in the country like Africa. I'm not cocnern about south Africa since it is far developed in terms of bitcoin.

However, it is the north and middle Africa which needs to be pushed down the road of crypto currency. :-)

Wait, so if you go on Paxful you can buy $100 for 85 or even 75 dollars? I can't see that option, is it because it's only available to your region? Why would anyone sell something like that below price, doesn't make sense... Or is this if you buy it with Bitcoin?

Saw the title and was doubting if it'll actually show the real deal but since I saw Luno in support of the video, I can vouch for the documentary to be worth watching. Luno has done so much for the industry in a very short period of time that no only company has been able to do. Prior to Binance introduction their support for fiat withdrawal in Nigeria, I have been benefiting from withdrawal from Luno effortlessly without much issue. Some months ago they even upgraded their processing time that it makes it easier to get your withdraw within minutes of withdrawing the your Local currency.

I haven't watched the documentary although I'm not planning to do so either. I think we have a long way to go in regards to bitcoin addition in Africa, we still don't have steady light, water or internet connection at the moment and for most areas where those things are available they're costly.

I think it is very help-full to see such documentaries especially in Africa , as am an African resident , the bitcoin use is increasing day after day . Most of people are trading now with bitcoin since it is easy to obtain and there are no regulations about it . Contrary to traditional banking systems which hare not so developed as many other countries.

That video is way too helpful and motivational because it can serve as an inspiration to other countries and also to our fellow crypto user on how does the bitcoin adaption in Africa got successful. It can also be an eye opener to each and everyone of us that nothing is impossible if we start striving to reach our goals.

It will be on Amazon Prime though, this is going to be interesting to watch. We all know that Africa is a prime example on how bitcoin can be adopted. And many services and platform are targeting this continent.

I also, think that bitcoin can really bring a lot of opportunities for the people in Africa such as helping them to have financial access since a lot of people still have no access to banks and other services. I have also heard several projects aiming to help Africa and I think to be successful with this revolution, spreading knowledge, and awareness should come first so they can adapt and understand what is this all about.

I have watched the documentary because I'm curious but also skipped some parts and it's more on interviewing about the good things that bitcoin and blockchain can do in Africa.

Of course it's a good step, as long as they adapt to the advancement of technology, probably it'll gonna cause something good in their country. These changes in technology will surely develop their economy, that'll be the stepping on that. Even here in my country, Bitcoin gives me an opportunity, not only about the profit but the knowledge you'll learn on it.
