What was your experience trading cryptocurrency?

Been trading for quite a while now and it took me time to get to where i am today coming from a noob in trading. Trading cryptocurrencies was one hell of an experience for me .

The first cryptocurrency i traded back in late 2018 was bitcoin and i lost a whole lot of money trading it. I guess i didn't learn enough about the crypto market and the volatility involved before delving into it  .

Ever since then, i picked another instrument of choice. I went into the FOREX trading. I plan on coming back into trading cryptocurencies but for now i'm still learning about the crypto market. 

It was a painful experience though

As every trader says, trading isn't for everyone so if you are into looking forward to high profits having a lack of knowledge and experience, trading isn't for you. Good for you that you were able to make in other markets as you say, the forex.

My experience was the same as yours, didn't made that much on my beginning days. Until I've decided to stop it and just focus in holding. I guess you can consider that there's still trading in it but, it only happens when you want to sell at a higher price or buy when the price was a bit low but you have to wait again. So it's a combination of patience and target selling/buying.

As I tell everyone who asks me at my day job ( investment advisor by trade ) you should only be trading money that you first off can stand to lose.  Secondly, only those with a great deal of experience, those whom have mastered fundamental analysis and have a good grip on technical analysis should be "trading" cryptocurrency.  It's one thing to trade crypto, let alone regular equities (stocks).  More volatile, more "unknowns'.

Hodling also has its downsides. I invested heavily in so many projects back in 2017/2018. I was hoping one of them will be the next bitcoin.
Even though i took partial profits, i literally lost most of the money i left on the table. Losing in crypto is outrageous; you get to lose a large % of your investment in just one day.

I believe everyone needs to know what cryptocurrency investment entails and invest what they can lose.

As I tell everyone who asks me at my day job ( investment advisor by trade ) you should only be trading money that you first off can stand to lose.  Secondly, only those with a great deal of experience, those whom have mastered fundamental analysis and have a good grip on technical analysis should be "trading" cryptocurrency.  It's one thing to trade crypto, let alone regular equities (stocks).  More volatile, more "unknowns'.

Hodling shouldn't be the thing to blame here but your mindset and thinking. There is no project from 2017/2018 that can be considered as the next bitcoin. It looks like you just got dragged by overhype.

Trading saved me multiply times by now back when I had nothing left but my alt-coins that I bought it gave me hope because those alt-coins suddenly pumps up.
And most of the time I would just hold them until I really need some cash or it already hit the price that I am aiming for so yeah trading saved me so many times when it comes to my financial crisis.

Been trading different alts for quite number of years already. And one important factor for me is the reputation of the exchange. I always checked the feedback of users, because what's the use of making a good trade if you can't get your funds out? That you will wait for days and days before they will send your coins, it is like waiting in vain and you don't have idea if they will ever credit your coins to your wallet. So that's one important factor for me, if I can deposit and withdraw coins smoothly. Also, the liquidity is important, because as a trader, I want fast turnover and not wait for my orders to be filled.

I first came to Crypto Currency through an online friend, first I had 100 100 + invest in a revenue share site called Mypaingads, but unfortunately I lost the first 100 $ bitcoin of my life by investing in that site. And now, there’s a huge chance of a price returning to 3.5 K. Here I think there’s nothing to think of, the market goes in a sine wave, if tomorrow the price is maximum, then in a month or in a few months, the price will be at minimum. The most important experience should be to maintain psychological health, and this can only be achieved with successful trading.

So i've change strategy to holding long term instead of day trading.

I really only traded on major exchanges with a lot of volume.

Those upcoming exchanges are never the best when it comes to trading as you might not get to sell your crypto holdings in profit due to little trade volume.

Actually, on the contrary, i know successful traders in the crypto-space. There is a way to go about it.

successful leveraged crypto traders get to enjoy high Risk to reward ratio compared to Hodling.

What matters is finding an edge that works in the crypto market and using proper risk management alongside.

A lot of us really don't accept the risk involved in placing a trade more the reason psychology plays us.

I did virtual trading before I put a large money on my real account and I thought that I was fully ready but when I put real money, everything is different. When we do trading, emotions are main factors and it can affect our decisions and it is the reason why we should be aware on our thoughts, ego and our current state of mind.

It is hard to trade especially for beginners because it still the start of adapting the volatility of the market, but time will past and we can get used to it. Cryptocurrency trading can become consistent if we will commit to our mastery.

I would say that I also have a so-so performance when I was just a newbie trader. Every trade was a nerve nerve wracking to me. Specially thinking that if I did the right move and even withdrawal or deposit back then was causing some stress on me, Lol. But it give me some confidence and experience to continue and ways to look for more profits.

As what other traders have been experienced in trading, I had lost my money from doing it, I tried trading before when I was don't have enough knowledge about it, I became interested from it because of some videos I watched on YouTube, it seems like easy money when you watch it on YouTube but if you are going to try reading, it would be hard for you to make your money profitable especially if you don't have any skills and knowledge about it.
After losing that money, I quit trading, I didn't explore it anymore because I don't know where I can get skills about good trading.

We had different experiences about trading, some have good and bad experiences, on my own experience, I can say that it's not that good for me, I had some trading experience where I won and there are also some trading experience where I had lost money, but if I am going to compare both things I can say that I lost my money in trading.

Bu leaving is not my option, I am still trading as of this days, even though I already lost huge amount of money from here, I still working from it because it finds so good for me I always entertained when doing it. May be I don't have still enough knowledge and skills about it so I always ended up losing it.

Yes I lost money from doing it as what other beginners had experienced before.

Starting ones trading journey from the right source is very key to reaching consistent profitability quickly.

Often times, novice are sold the dream of trading.
If you go on social media, you find a lot of "traders" flexing super cars and it makes you see yourself in their position in a short period of time. (although most of the so called "successful traders" usually fake it!)

To begin with you should probably move this thread to the trading section of the forum since that section seems to be the right section for this topic.

My experience trading bitcoin has been in fact positive but that is because I have dedicated an enormous amount of time to try to learn how to trade, anyone that dedicated just a few days or weeks is bound to eventually fail, trading is a very deep subject and there is no one that can master it so quickly, not only that even if there are many ways to trade that could be profitable there are only a few that could be right for you, also it takes a lot of time to backtest your strategy so you make sure that it actually works, when you combine all of these factors it is really no wonder why so few people are successful, so my recommendation is that before you pick a new instrument to trade that you try to find the reasons of why failed and then you correct them.

Everyone has the same mindset way back those years because it's the era of ICO. Many thought that there will be something new that can kick bitcoin out of its place but it's proven to be a wrong mindset because bitcoin will remain at the top.

Those lessons and experiences that we've learned during those times are helpful if you apply it in today's time. Investors, trader or holder, there's always an attached risk that we have to remember.

Forex trading is fraught with risk if you don't know the mechanism of trading on Forex. Unlike trading in cryptocurrency, when the price of an asset drops, it will remain in our account, but its value decreases.
Many of my experiences in cryprtocurrency trading, profit and loss have become commonplace, have withheld several altcoins and did not provide any benefit. Until now I am still active in the world of trading, and now I am switching to the Future Binance Trading platform which is more efficient but still has a high liquidity risk.

Not all has a good experience in trading though. And it's not an easy way to earn actually it is a complicated field. you have to learn many tools like fundamental and technical analysis buy yhat doesn't guarantee you 100% to make a profits all the time because our enemy is the volatility of the market.
 
 I wanted to turn into another field which is Forex tradingz too. But I know myself that I am not yet ready and still having a hard time into crypto tradings. If by a good chance, I am confident enough to say that I am a good crypto trader then by then, I can try forex trading.
 
 Just do not rush things and remember that trading is not easy and needs time and effort.

Trading is good, but technical analysis is something I'm finding difficult to do. It's not that I am lazy, I don't think I am, but because I'm always busy and I don't get the time that's needed to learn all that and get perfect in it. I have job I'm doing already and I spend most of my time working and only gets a short time to look into cryptocurrency, read news and do other things I want to do, so doing technical analysis is like a big stress for me so I don't look into it, and that's why trading is not really my thing.

I have tried options trading and forex trading, and I have also tried cryptocurrency trading. Right now I'm just an investor, and I invest and wait for long term before making profit.

We were all manipulated at the beginning and some of us are still being manipulated.

 I wanted to turn into another field which is Forex tradingz too. But I know myself that I am not yet ready and still having a hard time into crypto tradings. If by a good chance, I am confident enough to say that I am a good crypto trader then by then, I can try forex trading.

Trading is good, but technical analysis is something I'm finding difficult to do. It's not that I am lazy, I don't think I am, but because I'm always busy and I don't get the time that's needed to learn all that and get perfect in it. I have job I'm doing already and I spend most of my time working and only gets a short time to look into cryptocurrency, read news and do other things I want to do, so doing technical analysis is like a big stress for me so I don't look into it, and that's why trading is not really my thing.

I have tried options trading and forex trading, and I have also tried cryptocurrency trading. Right now I'm just an investor, and I invest and wait for long term before making profit.

I went a long way since I started trading. I fisrt got into trading altcoins because I thought I should differentiate and hold more than one coin and Bitcoin looked expensive.

Later I grew up gained experience and begun to understand the market better. Got rid of most altcoins that I held and bought Bitcoin. I feel you. There was a time when I was only using Bitcoin, and it's been for about two years. Then 2017 came, and the altcoin market started flourishing. So I've made a couple of mid-term investments: Ethereum and Litecoin. Both were a huge success. Then during the most bullish times I started investing at other altcoins and tried to do a bit of trading. Needless to say, I lost pretty much everything when the prices rapidly went down at the beginning of 2018. I invested a very small amount of money, though, so it wasn't a big loss for me. But trading seems too hard to me. It's way easier to just buy something and hodl. It's also more profitable from my experience, but the times are very different now.

I believe that if you're good at it you can trade anything. Some coins are simpluy not worth trading because they continue to go down. You need to first decide which coins have the potential to go up. Some altcoins had its boom and since then continue downward despite a general consolidation trend on the crypto markets.

Yeah, that will depend on how we can control ourselves if the market is going down. Calm down while the market is down will be better than to panic sell because we don't know if the price is down for a few minutes, and then the price will increase so high. If you can control yourself, you will see the chance to make a profit from the various coin. my friend will always say that one should get the right knowledge before embarking on any kind of adventure. If any crypto fan wants to adventure into crypto trading, i will advice the person to seek adequate knowledge on crypto currency before taking a leap into it. it has been a bumpy ride without the application of the required knowledge adn funds have been lost to the volatility of the market and the funniest part is that nobody gets to answer to you how it got lost.

Mine was painful. whenever I am starting a leverage trading to be specific, I always win on the first or second day and after that the loss will really hit me hard on the following days and I will just ended-up losing my funds for my trade. On the normal trading, I am just aiming for long term there, but yeah, the leverage trading is risky and I am always losing there. My advice for you guys is just take leverage trading if you have extra money or you are just really good in trading. 

To be frank leverage trading is just like gambling as you really cannot predict what the market situation will be and unless you have a complete understanding of the market on what signals you need to take positions even still you might mess up once in a while and it all depends upon luck as once in a while whales will mess your perception of the market in leverage trading.

My first experience wasn't easy and so successful, I have to admit that. But that was years ago, I didn't know much about trading and felt kind of lost in crypto market. With time I learned a lot, especialy on my own mistakes and now I'm much more related and have positive opinion about trading. People who come to crypto many times do not understand how a wallet works or understand how Exchange DEX, CEX, fees, etc. work. and they want to start trading.

At the start, I was looking for some trading bots, cause they are working much better than people. I had only few USD in crypto so there was a minimum of bots which were able to trade my money. Then I had a few months break and started to trade on my own. I had a strategy to buy tokens with the highest looses and looked at its graph if it has stopped falling and rising. My experience trading bitcoin has been in fact positive but that is because I have dedicated an enormous amount of time to try to learn how to trade, anyone that dedicated just a few days or weeks is bound to eventually fail, trading is a very deep subject and there is no one that can master it so quickly, not only that even if there are many ways to trade that could be profitable there are only a few that could be right for you, also it takes a lot of time to backtest your strategy so you make sure that it actually works, when you combine all of these factors it is really no wonder why so few people are successful, so my recommendation is that before you pick a new instrument to trade that you try to find the reasons of why failed and then you correct them.

I also tried trading bitcoin, last time I tried risking at poloniex. It is an online bitcoin trading website. In trading you cannot be sure of the future of your bitcoin. In trading you may win and you may lose. Many people say that it is out of lack. But then in bitcoin trading you may gain more if you also trade more. You may lose more if you trade more. You may win less if you trade less and you may lose less if you trade less. That is the idea of trading. You have to risk your money to gain. It is a bit hard in maintaing and watching the charts and trades. If you have the passion and enough knowledge in trading, you will surely enjoy trading. But if you do not have a passion I doubt you will earn more in here.

Trading cryptocurrency is a bit fun and exciting; however, its risky knowing that you are playing real money.

Basically the idea of trading is that you should not lose yourself with the intense mechanism of the market especially trading with
very volatile and liquid market like BTC and ETH. In fact, I created a lot of techniques from creating my trading set-ups out of technical and
fundamental factors, making my own strategies to lure out fake walls, FOMO "ing", fake price reversals then suddenly pumping the price along
with our peers and groups(mostly for low volume market).

Well, everything should be played within the market to maximized profit, right! However, I settled with consistent losses and the saddest part,
I end up cutting my losses. Although, it kinda exciting but time will come up that you need to think a little bit further, cause you are not only fighting with the price
but rather controlling one`s fund and fighting with your own emotion. The concept of trading for me is self-discipline. And even if it is fun, it kinda kills my time and ends up having profit and losing at the same time.

That is why it is important to remove our emotional attachment to our money especially if it is our hard earned money. Make sure that amount that we will put in trading is the money that we are willing to lose which means that we will not get depressed if we will experience losses. Fear is normal at the beginning because we are still do not have enough confidence to ourselves, but if we want to be a confident trader then we should have courage and determination to study and have knowledge about trading.

It is normal to have ups and down in trading because there is no perfect system. Losses are inevitable but we can lessen it if we have a proper risk and management. Being a trader is fun because I always surpassing my limits where I constantly learning and growing.

I started trading indices and forex in 2010, with a health related break between 2012 and 2014. Even though I knew cryptos since years prior, I just started trading them in 2016. The procedere remaind the same, just as much as the basic principles like never investing money you can´t afford to lose, never go too high in leverage, never enter a market you have no idea about, never enter a trade without a plan or never enter a trade without a stop loss. I kept writting a journal when trading cryptos just as with trading the S&P500 or the German DAX  but completely quit trading in 2018 because of a change of focus to building that DEX startup.

We can talk about high, medium and low risk investments but there is no investment (in crypto or in anything else) that can guarantee you profit. Even in the long run. At some point (maybe in a year, maybe in 100 years) Bitcoin price will reach it's maximum and a person who buys that maximum will never have profit of that investment. I lost money, but the money I lost is a minuscule compared to what I was able to make later. I started buying bitcoin in 2014 and I wasn't serious with it back then, so I didn't invest much. The funny thing is that I still lost this little money I invested in cryptocurrency. Then I wasn't really good at it. This is the issue with most newbies. Before risking any amount, it is so much advised that you make a thorough research. There are online courses for those who want to trade, you can either start one (and of course finish it) or you make researches and ask experts question. Trading will be difficult if you do not have enough knowledge because cryptocurrency trading does not only buy at low prices and sell at high prices. The pump group will allow you to earned at the beginning of your subscription letting you to feel that they are really
doing good at this kind of signals, without knowing that they are just for you to

These kind of groups were very famous back them and most of them used to run on telegram, slack and on IRC channels. Now people are more aware about these pumps and dumps and don't fall for it usually.
I also used to hunt bounties and airdrops in the past, the most profitable for me was of Decred, I earned about 1.5btc from that single airdrop. But my first experience in trading was with Cryptsy which was the biggest exchange in my starting days and also having the biggest volumes but due to many hacks it ran out of business.

We do have freedom in trading, there are many opportunities, but if we do not have the ability to analyze the market, then we cannot see any opportunities. We will not get anything if we only rely on feeling, technical and fundamental analysis must be done, depending on which strategy you like and understand. We also have to remember that nothing is instant, everything requires a process. We never know what successful traders have felt in the past, who knows how many times they have lost, or how many times they have become pessimistic, but it is all a process that must go through to gain valuable experience.

A perfect example of how FOMO spoils people's lives. Your example is most indicative, since you already had a positive experience, you were able to make good money on bitcoin.

You need to have big cox to trade altcoins.
Given that they themselves have certain characteristics in pricing, they in addition depend on bitcoin, which can turn the game plan at any time.Trading bitcoins is very difficult, and doubling altcoins.

Generally I have done quite well from trading, certainly making more profits than losses.
