With literally thousands of nonprofit agencies seeking funding worldwide, and many conducting numerous successful and yes, unsuccessful, fundraising drives, there's no reason, at all, for not having several--eventually hundreds--of them incorporating a Bitcoin donation option, complementing their current income stream.
In the offering up of this beneficial solution to augment selected nonprofit organizations, I propose the following: Bitcoin100:
Bitcoin100 is nothing more than at least 100 supporters pledging then, hopefully, honoring at least 1 BTC prior to each time a charitable organization expresses interest in embedding a Bitcoin donation button, or acceptable equivalent, onto their website.
At first, there'll be no need to necessarily donate Bitcoin. What's desired, at the onset, is more than 100 individuals stating that they'll pledge (without having to gift at this stage) at least 1 BTC to Bitcoin100 then, eventually, honoring that pledge toward only causes they're most comfortable with, for this endeavor to fully function accordingly--as I currently envision it. The reason for requiring a minimum of 100 supporters is to guarantee, optimistically, that at least 100 BTC rests in the initial wallet when charitable organizations are ultimately approached.
So, to get started, simply state that you would like to pledge to Bitcoin100 and your name will be added to the supporter's list above. As we approach the 100 BTC mark in the wallet, we'll collectively vote on which organization we want to target first. Once over the 100 supporters threshold, the requests will go out to those on the list, to begin honoring their at least 1 BTC pledge. When the at least 100 BTC goal is reached, Bitcoin100 approaches the voted upon charitable organization with Bitcoin in hand. If they decline our gesture of goodwill, the next charitable organization is approached with the exact same offer, and so down the line, until one eventually accepts the simple terms, thereupon transferring the already funded wallet to their nonprofit corporation's Bitcoin account. After the first prospect comes aboard, success will become easier during the pursuing of others.
Ideally, it would be nice if each person who pledges to Bitcoin100, does so with the knowledge that they may be donating to at least 100 charitable organizations during the upcoming year. But it's not a deal breaker if one pledges only 1 BTC now then, at a later date, only exercises the honoring of said commitment. I firmly believe that after the act of simply building the supporter's list for Bitcoin100, the rest will take care of itself.
Gaia willing, when Bitcoin re-bubbles, you can always adjust the at least 1 BTC donation option, thereby better suiting your financial position and resources.
~Bruno~
