We are the same mate, I supposed not to follow my friends before and thinking that Bitcoin could just be scam way. But this is also my big regrets coz I'd found it late and if I allow that recommendation drives me, I already got a lot. It was a lesson for me and think that we shouldn't have to close the door for any opportunity that will knock on but leave it open for they will come soon.
It was difficult to trust crypto at first as you can hear bad reviews but actually it is different when you are there. I think you should understand the market first before investing. Many people have different opinions about cryptocurrency market and most of them just making worthless comments. I think he should not expect again what happen to bitcoin. Its hard to do for a certain token to rise really high just like bitcoin. 
@OP you should also do your own research, I must say that your friend really good in searching new token. Its not possible that you can get profit in what token you would like to invest, but just like bitcoin, it also takes a years to see that it really growing. Patience is very important, don't do the same mistake that you already done.
