Which "new" crypto currencies are you talking about? I mean what currency did your friend suggest you to invest on? People sometimes tend to be biased towards the coins they have invested on, so might suggest you to invest on that coin even if its a really shitcoin. You probably should be doing your own research and decide if you should invest or not.
But remember, most of the "new" coins are all bad, like really really bad. So just be careful when investing on those.

Definitely I will not risk with any new cryptocurrency if I were you. I will again go with only bitcoin investments but this time definitely for long-term planning. Honestly I could not get your level of risk taking capability because you are basically sounding like you are a high level of risk trader rather than simply looking for making huge profits out of investing only with bitcoins. If the cryptocurrency that he's telling have already reputation in crypto world. I think there's no doubt to invest to them quickly. Your right, he must do his part also by researching about the quality of the cryptocurrency that he was telling about. Don't try to ride to them, they will immediately straight down which you might able to withdraw.
