I think this is the most important part in gambling and investing. Having a clear perspective of the game you play or stocks you invest in and being able to live with the loss is so important. I would correct your point a little if I may. In the rare cases when I gamble I follow this rule.

Determine in advance the amount you want to spend when gambling. And never go beyond it.
And best of all, if you go to the casino, take only this amount of money, and leave the rest at home.

It is really hard when you are out of control and never knows how to stick to our limitations.
As usual, gamblers will mostly suffer losses than of winning against the house and that because we are chasing to win even though we can't. Even though we have those OP's with us but keeping it and following it all the time is really a big challenge for everyone. Why?
