Recently a piece of information was shared via Telegram that Bitcoin Wallet Tracker enables electrum users to connect to bitcoin core directly without using electrum server

https://github.com/shesek/bwt#electrum-plugin

So I just want to know whether it is better to connect my Electrum through Electrum server or through the BWT plugin. Is there a difference between the two?

Bitcoin addresses contain a checksum, so it is very unlikely that mistyping an address will cause you to lose money.

-snip- So I just want to know whether it is better to connect my Electrum through Electrum server or through the BWT plugin. Is there a difference between the two?
I haven't tried the plugin yet. Even if you want to try it, use the testnet version first. As far as I know, if you use the BWT Plugin, then you run the full node on your Electrum.

-snip- that embeds the Electrum server into the Electrum wallet.
If you use the Electrum server (external), then only as a "Light client" so you don't need a lot of resources to download and run the full node.

It seems a new feature for Electrum 3.3.8 low version of Electrum doesn't have this feature under plugins.

They get many issues after published a few days ago according to their issue page. Does it seem that this plugin is not included in Electrum 3.3.8?

So this new feature still in beta testing and you will still get some issues on using it. So try it first on testnet(Like the above said) but I believe you will still receive some issues using it like the other users who already use it.

is something like this even useful for an "Electrum user"?
if they run Electrum then they are not running a full node of their own and if they run a full node they don't have another wallet like Electrum.

P.S. it seems to be an "alpha" version and not for "users" but for only developers.

I didn't have much idea about it, thats why I asked whether it's better than connecting to Electrum servers. Didn't know that alpha version is for developers. So guess I'll stay away for now.

in the world of programming you sometimes see the same concept being defined in many different ways that sometimes don't make much sense either. i've seen beta programs released as alpha, version 1 as beta,... take bitcoin core for example it is still using a beta version even though it has been running for 11 years.
in this case it seems to me that they defined alpha the way i said Roll Eyes
